On the firdārīyyah of Mars

The firdārīyyah of Mars is 7 years, and indeed from the beginning he disposes one-seventh of these, namely 1 year. And it signifies that in a distribution of this kind he will be unfair and thoughtless, and he will fall into a great offense and a long fight, and his enemies will rise up against him, and they will defame him in the presence of princes and rulers, and he will suffer harm from his parents and he will be saved, and he will endure the fear of a wild animal or fire or iron or boiling water, or from hanging, or from someone hanged and those half-dead; in that year his seed will be harmed by water or submersion, he will even go on a distant foreign journey, and he will suffer a headache and pain in the eyes. But if Mars were with Jupiter or Saturn in the bounds of Mars, or in the bounds of Venus, he will be harmed by enemies and be saved.

Then the Sun disposes 1 year in the firdārīyyah of Mars (which together come to be 2 years).

And in a distribution of this kind it signifies that his brothers will be disposed inimically against him, and he will suffer harm from some one of his associates for 11 days, and he will have a pain in some hidden limb, and he will fall from a high place, and his wife will die, and one of his

children will be insane or die.

Then Venus disposes 1 year in the firdārīyyah of Mars (which together come to be 3 years).

And in a distribution of this kind he will persevere in singing and pleasant things, and he will live with prostitutes and will quarrel with his wife, and he will have familiarity with robbers and advantage from them.

Then Mercury disposes 1 year in the firdārīyyah of Mars (which together come to be 4 years).

And in a distribution of this kind he will have harms and he will go on a foreign journey and will be saddened on account of thievery or loss, and he will be inimical to his friends, and perhaps he will perish from some misfortune.

Then the Moon disposes 1 year in the firdārīyyah of Mars (which together come to be 5 years). And it signifies that in a distribution of this kind he will be confined, and he will fall into adverse things, then he will suffer expenditures and costs in buildings; and if he bought [a slave],[628] he will die or flee; and if his father were living, he will die.

Then Saturn disposes 1 year in the firdārīyyah of Mars (which together come to be 6 years).

In a distribution of this kind he will suffer evils and losses, and a quartan [fever] will come over him, and there will be a divorce between him and his wife.

Then Jupiter disposes 1 year in the firdārīyyah of Mars (which together come to be 7 years).

And it signifies that in a distribution of this kind he will overcome his enemies, and he will despise everyone, and he will have advantage on the occasion of contentions, and his revenues will be multiplied, and a child will be born to him, and he will rejoice in all things.

[Chapter IV.8: On the firdārīyyāt of the Nodes][629]

The Head of the Dragon disposes 3 years. And it signifies prosperity and riches from a contention, and friendship toward superior persons, and he will embrace judges, and will obtain good things, and his speech will have authority, and he will rule over many and will obtain advantage from an inheritance, and he will suffer harm by magic, and he will be healed.

Then the Tail disposes 2 years. And it signifies that in these years he will suffer evils, and he will be inimical with his own friends, and both he and his wife will be fined,[630] and they will fall into the worst illness, and he will be healed of it.

And if the Head were[631] in the Ascendant according to the root, the man himself will have a royal life in [those] three years. And if Jupiter or the Moon or Venus[632] were with it, his glory will be added to. And if the Tail were in the Ascendant, he will fall down into wicked things.

And if the Head were in the second,[633] he will get rich. And if the Tail were there, he will be impoverished.

And if the Head were in the third place, he will rule over his own brothers; but if it were the Tail, he will be the least of his brothers.

And[634] in diurnal nativities the aforesaid Nodes dispose after Mars, but in a nocturnal one after Mercury. But once the 75 years are completed, the distribution of the firdārīyyāt is restored to the planet from which the firdārīyyah at the beginning of the nativity began, according to the above-stated order, and the determinations of the outcomes proceed just as we have made clear before. And if the his life passed beyond 75 years, or the number reached [something]

less than that number, his death will be in thefirdārīyyah of that planet which it touches according to the teaching laid out for you before.[635]

And these are the significations of the planets in their firdārīyyāt, in themselves and in association with the others. But in addition to these it is good to consider their significations according to the nativity (if they were of a good condition or a bad one), and according to the dispositions[636] which they had at the beginning of the nativity, and to make a determination concerning the particular significations of the outcomes.
