The Home Position (Front View) The Home Position (Side View)

The home position is the very center of your kick boxing training.

Your lead hand should be in front and guarding your face.

Your hand should be just over mouth level around 10 inches in front of your head.

Your other hand should be chambered, and ready to deliver a blow It should be however ready to guard if need be.

The blocking hand in street self defense

Do you remember in ordinary boxing when you held your hand in front of your face protecting your head with a fist and glove?

Well in a street situation this is not recommended because if you do not have boxing gloves on.

You can break the bones in your hand by blocking a punch in this way.

For a street defense situation you simply reverse the palm position of your hand.

You hold your fist in front of your head, but you hold your fist in front of your face palm out.

The soft side of your hand will be more than enough to absorb the shock of most punches or blows thrown at you.

Proper hand blocking position for self-defense

Always keep the knees slightly bent; this of course helps you to duck under an opponents punch, but also

Forward Punch

For a Front Punch Chamber the front arm with the palms pointed toward your face in the punch grip on your hand and take a step forward.

As you are stepping forward Straiten your hand so the first two knuckles of your fist are in line with your wrist

Twist your hand in an upright position. And twist your upper torso! In the direction of your opponent and strike The striking surface of this technique is where the very front of the first two knuckles of your hand.

You are walking down the streets of your hometown and suddenly, you are confronted by a thief or a mugger.

This thief is the size of a large giant.

I don’t want you to consider the size of this thief.

I want you to block out this thief all together! Instead I want you to concentrate on the front of the thief’s head.

There are a large number of target areas there.

I want everything else to vanish from your mind, but the large bull’s eye on the head of your adversary.

Forward palm heal strike (DANGER! This is potentially, a decapacitating strike)

For a left palm heal strike, assuming your hands are at your sides, fold your left arm upward (Open your palm but clench your fingertips) and make a upward angle motion like a cobra jumping strait up out of a basket.

And smash the front of the face with an upward striking motion with the palm of your hand.

The striking surface of the palm heal strike is the lower portion of the hand.

Target: Anywhere in front of the face or jaw

As big as your adversary is, his or her nose or jaw will still be the same size as yours.

And a blow to the head with the palm heal strike will temporarily stun a foe and send him reeling back in agony.

Forward Jab to the lower jawline (DANGER! This is potentially, a decapacitating strike) For a left forward punch, assuming your arms are at your sides

Quickly bring your hands into the kickboxing home position

Now quickly perform a forward punch to the tip of your adversaries jaw.

You wish to twist your wrist so the striking surface on your hand will be The first two knuckles of your fist

Target: The tip of the jaw X

Front Kick

Target: The upper thigh, the pelvis, or the stomach of an adversary.

For the front kick, assuming you are standing on your front left leg. Shift all of your weight to your rear leg And bring your front knee up as high as you can! If possible lean backwards a little.

Afterward. Straiten out your front leg and at the same time rotate your pelvis forward a little and kick outward.

The striking surface should be the front ball behind the toes, of your front foot.

Front Scrape Kick

Target: The lower shin and or foot of an adversary.

Bring the left knee up and point the thigh outward slightly, then bring the left thigh strait down The striking surface is the outside rim of the left foot to scrape the lower leg or shin of the target.

The Wild Horse Kick

Target: Anywhere on a down adversary (It is used to disable or even kill a grounded adversary) Jump up into the air with both legs and bring both knees close to the chest as possible while in the air.

And then while coming down extend them, Heel first! To the target in a downward stomping motion.
