(for example, if you mail the deposit), funds from these deposits will be available by the second business day after the day we receive your deposit.
5. Availability of Other Check Deposits Made at U.S. Branch Locations
The first $750 from a deposit of other checks (e.g. personal checks, business checks and payroll checks) will be available on the same day that we receive your deposit. The remaining funds will be available by the second business day after the date of your deposit. For example, if you deposit a check of $1,000 on a Monday, $750 of the deposit will be available on Monday. The remaining $250 will be available by Wednesday.
6. Availability of Deposits Made at ATMs, Shared Branching Locations, and WebDeposit24
The first $200 from a deposit made at ATMs that we own or operate, via WebDeposit24 (home banking), or at shared branching locations, will be available on the same day that we receive your deposit. Funds from deposits of U.S. Treasury checks will be available on the first business day following the day of your deposit. Funds from all other deposits will be available by the second business day after the date of your deposit. All ATMs that we own or operate are identified as our machines.
7. Longer Delays May Apply
We may delay your ability to withdraw funds deposited by check into your account an additional number of days for any of these reasons:
• We believe a check you deposit will not be paid;
• You deposit checks totaling more than $5,000 on any one (1) day;
• You deposit a check that has been returned unpaid
• You have overdrawn your account repeatedly in the last six (6) months; or,
• There is an emergency, such as failure of communications or computer equipment.
We will notify you if we delay your ability to withdraw funds for any of these reasons and we will tell you when the funds will be available. They will generally be available no later than the seventh business day after the day of your deposit.
8. Special Rules for New Accounts
If you are a new member, the following special rules will apply during the first thirty (30) days your account is open. Funds from electronic direct deposits to your account will be available on the day we receive the deposit. Funds from deposits of cash, wire transfers and the first $5,000 of a day’s total deposits of cashier’s, certified, teller’s, traveler’s, and federal, state, and local government checks will be available on the same business day that we receive your deposit if the checks are payable to you. The excess over $5,000 will be available on the ninth business day after the day of your deposit. If your deposit of these checks (other than a U.S. Treasury check) is not made in person to one of our employees, the first $5,000 will not be available until the second business day after the day of your deposit. The first $750 from a deposit of other checks will be available on the same business day
that we receive your deposit, and all remaining funds from a deposit of other checks will be available on the tenth business day after the date of your deposit.
9. Foreign Checks
Checks drawn on financial institutions located outside the U.S. (foreign checks) cannot be processed the same as checks drawn on U.S. financial institutions. Foreign checks are exempt from the policies outlined in this Disclosure.
10. Foreign Deposits
The check holds for deposits you make at our overseas branches are subject to longer check holds. Funds deposited by electronic direct deposits, wire transfers or U.S. Treasury checks payable to you will be available on the day we receive the deposit, as will cash, postal money orders, Federal Reserve Bank or Federal Home Loan Bank checks, state or unit of local government checks, cashier’s, certified, teller checks or traveler’s checks payable to you received for deposit in person by a Service Credit Union employee.
The first $750 of funds from deposits consisting of personal checks, business checks, payroll checks and checks other than listed in the paragraph above will be available on the date of deposit. The amount over $750 will be made available on the fifth business day after the date of deposit. Funds from deposits consisting of cashier checks, certified checks, state and local government checks, personal checks, business checks, payroll checks and money orders may have the following exception holds placed:
1. New accounts. A new account is an account that has been open
for less than thirty (30) days. The first $750 of the deposit will have no hold. The amount over $750 will be subject to a maximum hold of ten (10) business days.
2. Large dollar deposits. For a deposit of checks totaling more
than $5,000 in any one (1) day, the first $750 of the deposit will be immediately available. The amount over $750 and up to $5,000 of that deposit will be available in five (5) business days. The amount over $5,000 will be available in ten (10) business days.
3. Repeated overdrafts or returned deposits. Accounts repeatedly
overdrawn are those in overdrawn status for six (6) or more workdays in the preceding six (6) months. Accounts with repeated overdrafts, or accounts with returned deposit items will have a hold placed on the entire deposit for a period of ten (10) business days.
4. Reasonable cause to doubt collectability. If there is reasonable
cause to doubt collectability, the Credit Union can place an exception hold for a period not to exceed ten (10) business days. If the Credit Union does so, it will notify you of the primary reason. We can invoke the reasonable cause exception if (1) the check being deposited has been altered in some way, (2) the check is payable to someone other than you, and your endorsement is unverifiable, (3) a reason exists to question the authenticity of the check, or (4) if there is any reason to question validity or collectability.
5. Foreign Checks payable in U.S. Dollars. All U.S. dollar checks
drawn on foreign banks shall be held for a minimum of fifteen (15) business days, or as determined by the branch office manager.
