You enjoy the following discounted rate on Avis services, based on your Multiply status:

Benefit rules
Car rental booked through Multiply is for leisure purposes only.
Only the Multiply principal member and their spouse/partner qualify for this benefit.
Discount applies to the best available rate at the time of the booking.
Bookings must be for a minimum of three consecutive weekdays, or two consecutive weekend days. Avis weekend rules at the time of the booking will apply.
You may not use this benefit for more than 40 days for each family member in one calendar year (January to December). After 40 days, you will receive a 7.5% discount for the rest of the year (unlimited).
Avis Chauffeur Drive and Avis Point 2 Point will count as one day per booking.
Members must be over the age of 18 years to rent a vehicle, must have a valid credit card and an unendorsed drivers licence, valid for at least one year.
Only the specified driver can collect the vehicle.
The quoted rates exclude any additional service charges.
A member can make a single booking of a maximum of 23 consecutive days at their Multiply status rate. A single booking of more than 23 consecutive days is recognised as a monthly booking and will be charged at the Avis retail rate.
This benefit is only available in the Republic of South Africa.
What the daily rental includes and excludes

How to use this benefit – booking your rental car
There are two ways to book your discounted car rental:
- Online: Book directly through Avis at www.avis.co.za, or
- Through the Multiply Travel Desk. Contact us by:

You will need your Multiply client number and ID number when you make a booking.
Your booking is non-refundable.
This benefit is subject to availability.
We will e-mail your Avis travel confirmation to you.
When you collect your car
Collect the rental car from the Avis branch you selected when you made your booking. Make sure you take along your:
- ID document,
- valid unendorsed driver‟s licence,
- Multiply membership card, and
- Avis confirmation.
Please note that only the specified driver can collect the vehicle.
Authorisation deposit
An authorisation deposit is the amount that Avis will “hold” on the credit card when they provide you with a specific vehicle for rental. For more information, visit

The authorisation deposit money is only reserved and not actually “taken” from the credit card account. However, this “hold” does reduce the amount of funds available to the credit card holder.
Once the vehicle is returned and the rental is invoiced, Avis will debit the credit card for the additional charges only (e.g. any petrol fees or other amounts payable other than the actual rental, which is pre-paid via Multiply). They will then cancel the authorisation deposit.
It takes about five days for the funds to reflect as available in the credit card holder‟s account.
For weekend rentals, Avis takes a credit card authorisation for the estimated cost of the rental, plus the following additional weekend authorisation*:
- Inland locations – R5 000, and
- Coastal locations – R2 000.
*The additional weekend authorisation will be waived on presentation of a valid airline boarding pass. This excludes Kaiser Matanzima Airport in Mthatha.
Paying for your rental vehicle
Please note that you can only pay with a valid credit card. Avis accepts MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Diners Club.
You must have enough credit on your credit card for the authorisation deposit amount (visit www.avis.co.za for more information).
Changing or cancelling your booking
If you change your booking, you will be liable for paying an administration fee.
Avis standard rules for changes apply to Multiply bookings. You do not get a discount on the cost charged for changing your booking.
If the new price is higher than the original, you will have to pay the difference. If the new price is lower than the original, you will lose the difference.
You are allowed to cancel your booking, but we will not refund you, unless for reasons related to hospitalisation or death (subject to proof). If you cancel for other reasons, you will have to use your booking on another date. Please note that additional costs could be involved.
The Multiply discount does not apply to the extra costs when you cancel or make changes to a booking.
General Multiply travel rules
We will always do our best to secure the best available rate for our members at any given time. However, some of our travel partners may have specials that they run from time to time, which are outside our scope and control.
You will only qualify for the Multiply discount structure that is
based on the service provider‟s retail standard rate and not on the provider‟s special rate or the travel partner‟s special web fare rate.
All car hire and accommodation bookings must be made at least three days in advance.
For any combination booking (flights and/or accommodation and/or car hire), a three-day or 14-day advance notice period will apply, depending on the nature of the booking. This can only be facilitated via the Multiply Travel Desk.
