I.B Students and Graduates
I.B.1 The Program will demonstrate efforts to maintain or improve the quality of the applicant pool and students entering the Program.
Partially Met Concern
2. During the self-study year, the program accepted 93% (71 of 76) of completed applications compared to 58% (67 out of 114) during the prior academic year. This change in standards was in part imposed by the legislature to improve minority admission. While the program adopted a more rigorous admission standard after the self-study year, the quality of the applicant pool during the self-study year had decreased. Lack of data makes it impossible to assure that the admission criteria are being fully applied.
Criteria Related Recommendation
2. The program should continue to strengthen the admission criteria with the goal of improving the quality of applicant pool and implement a data system to assure that criteria are adhered to.
I.B.2 The Program will engage in activities to generate an applicant pool of qualified individuals sufficient to provide diversity in the student population, and will give full opportunities for the study of health administration and entry into the profession by qualified individuals regardless of race, ethnicity or gender.
