How to display it?
Click Status in the left pane of the main STORServer Virtual Machine Backup window.
You can also display this tab in a separate window by clicking the Tear Off button on the Status toolbar.
The Status tab provides status information for each schedule and on-demand job
(collectively referred to as jobs) that ran during the log retention period, which is defined at the job level. The default log retention period is 7 days. Once that period has elapsed, status information for that period is deleted.
By default, the most recent 25 jobs are listed. You can advance or back up through the list using navigation buttons. You can also filter the list by job status and time period.
The status that appears in the upper left corner is an overall status for all current jobs.
Possible statuses are:
l Good — All jobs completed successfully.
l May Need Attention — One or more jobs encountered at least one warning.
l Needs Attention — One or more jobs failed.
Icons are used within the list of jobs to indicate the current status of each job. (See the List of jobs description below for more on status icons.) Expand entries in the jobs list to access job-specific status information and associated logs. Hover the mouse pointer over any job entry to view a brief status.
From this tab, you can determine which jobs are pending, running, or completed, and whether they have succeeded, failed, or completed with warnings. You can also view and annotate both job and client-specific logs, and export them as needed. This tab can be displayed as a separate window, allowing you to keep it open at all times while performing other tasks with the STORServer Virtual Machine Backup (VMB) user interface.
The Status tab has these features:
Show jobs with status [ ]
Filters the list to include only those jobs that match one or more selected statuses. The button label changes to Custom when more than one status is selected. Select All to restore the full list of jobs.
Show status for [ ] days
Filters the list to show only those jobs that ran during a specified number of days since today.
NOTE! Status information is retained for the number of days specified by the log retention period, which is an attribute of each schedule and on-demand job.
Although you may specify a period of up to 999 days here, only available status information is shown.
Status toolbar
A row of graphical buttons whose actions primarily affect the list of jobs that appears on the Status tab. Toolbar buttons are as follows:
Apply Filter refreshes the list to include only those jobs that occurred within the specified number of days. Note that status information is available only during the log retention period that is specified for each schedule and on-demand job.
Tear Off displays a copy of the Status tab in a fully functional, separate window titled Job Status, which you can resize and reposition as needed. This allows you to keep status information visible while performing other tasks.
Refresh Page updates the information on the Status tab immediately. By default, this information is updated every 120 seconds.
Tip! You can change the refresh frequency on theGeneral tabof the STORServer Virtual Machine Backup Settings dialog box.
Expand All expands all entries in the list of jobs. This allows you to access more information on each job.
Collapse All collapses all expanded entries.
Items per page
Defines the maximum number of jobs to list at one time. This default value is 25. You can increase this value by clicking the down-arrow next to the number of items and selecting a different value. Use the scroll bar to view all jobs on the current page, and the navigation buttons to advance to the next page or return to the previous page.
and buttons
Use these buttons to advance to the next page of job listings or back up to the previous page (respectively). These buttons are dimmed when all jobs are shown.
List of jobs
The list of jobs on the Status tab includes an entry for each scheduled and on-demand job that ran or is running during the specified log retention period and matches the status filters. Entries include the start time while the job is running and the finish time after the job completes. These entries are arranged in descending order by date (from most recent to oldest).
You can hover the pointer over each entry in this list to display a "quick status" (type of job, start, end, and duration times, and the final status) for that job.
One or more of the following buttons may appear on entries in this list:
Expand Panel (located on the far right side of each entry)
expands the job entry to reveal more details. You can also expand an entry by double-clicking within the blue panel.
Collapse Panel (located on the far right side of an expanded job entry) collapses the entry. You can also collapse an expanded entry by double-clicking within the blue panel.
Stop Job (appears only when a job is in progress or pending) cancels all currently running and pending client tasks (backups, for example) associated with this job.
The following status indicators are used to indicate the current or final status of each job:
Success indicates a final status of Completed.
Warning indicates a final status of Disabled, Cancelled, Timeout, Dependent Task Failed, Schedule Already Running, Warning, or Cancellation Pending.
Failure indicates a final status of Failed.
In Progress or Pending indicates a final status of Started or Pending.
Changed to Success indicates that the original final status was manually changed to Success. SeeChanging the final status of a schedulefor more information.
Changed to Failed indicates that the original final status was manually changed to Failed. SeeChanging the final status of a schedulefor more information.
Expanded job entries
The following features are visible when you expand a job on the Status tab by clicking (the Expand Panel icon) on the far right side of the job entry.
