Printable Iron-on Dark

For use with inkjet printers only. Using with a laser printer may damage the printer.

Cutting Printable Iron-on Dark with the Cricut Explore

®

machine

Step 1. Once your project design is complete, load iron-on into an inkjet printer so that it will print on the correct side. Do NOT mirror the project in Cricut Design Space™, as Cricut® Printable

Iron-on Dark is transferred to the project printed side up. Step 2. Follow instructions in Cricut Design Space™ to print design.

Step 3. Let printed iron-on dry for 5 minutes.

Step 4. Position top left corner of iron-on, printed side up, in top left corner of Cricut®

StandardGrip cutting mat; load into Cricut Explore® machine.

Step 5. Turn Smart Set® dial to “Custom” and select “Printable Iron-on.”

Step 6. Press GO.

Application instructions

NOTE: To ensure best results, test a piece of Cricut® Printable Iron-on in an inconspicuous part of the

item prior to application.

Step 1. Wash fabric before applying printable iron-on.

Step 2. Peel off unwanted pieces from printed iron-on using the weeder tool found in the Cricut®

Basic Tool Set.

Step 3. Set iron heat between the COTTON and WOOL settings with steam setting OFF. Step 4. For 10 to 15 seconds, use iron to preheat the fabric where you will be applying iron-on. Step 5. Peel backing from transfer tape (included) to expose adhesive. Gently smooth transfer tape onto printed image.

Step 6. Use transfer tape to place image on fabric. Iron-on material should be against the fabric and transfer tape should be on top.

Step 8. Use both hands to press the iron firmly against the parchment paper for 40 to 60 seconds, moving iron slowly and constantly across iron-on until it has adhered to fabric.

Step 9. For 15 to 20 seconds, press tip of iron around edges of iron-on image to secure it.

Step 10. Let cool for 5 seconds; peel away backing. If iron-on is not completely fastened, replace parchment paper and repeat steps 8 and 9 until properly set.

Step 11. If you would like to make the image more vivid once the iron-on has set, cover it with parchment paper and iron for 3 to 5 seconds.

Printing tips

• Printable iron-on is NOT compatible with laser printers.

• Print results depend on quality of printer and ink as well as printer settings. Consult your printer’s manual to determine the best settings for the project.

Application tips

• Do NOT mirror the project in Cricut Design Space™, as Cricut® Printable Iron-on Dark is

transferred to the project printed side up.

• Printable iron-on material may discolor slightly when heated. Set the iron between COTTON and WOOL to minimize discoloration (iron settings may vary).

• Do NOT use steam when applying printable iron-on.

• When applying heat, always use the included parchment paper over the top of the transfer tape, iron-on, and fabric. This will protect both material and iron.

• Ironing on firm, heat-resistant surface recommended.

• Transfer tape may discolor during application; this is normal and will not affect the iron-on material.

Spot clean with mild soap and water. Should iron-on come loose, reapply it using the steps above (parchment paper is required).

Step 1. Once your project design is complete, mirror each mat that will be cut from iron-on. To do this, check the Mirror Image box in the mat preview of Cricut Design Space™. NOTE: You must

mirror each mat individually. If you do not mirror the images, they will appear in reverse when ironed on.

Step 2. Load iron-on into an inkjet printer so that it will print on the correct side. Step 3. Follow instructions in Cricut Design Space™ to print design.

Step 4. Let printed iron-on dry for 5 minutes.

Step 5. Position top left corner of iron-on, printed side up, in top left corner of Cricut® StandardGrip

cutting mat; load into Cricut Explore® machine.

Step 6. Turn Smart Set® dial to “Custom” and select “Printable Iron-on.”

Step 7. Press GO.

Cutting Flex Iron-on with the Cricut

®

machine

Step 1. Position top left corner of iron-on, liner side down, in top left corner of Cricut® StrongGrip

cutting mat. Load mat into machine.

Step 2. Select images and size; mirror the images. NOTE: If you do not mirror the images, they will appear in reverse when ironed on.

Step 3. Refer to Flex Iron-on Kiss Cut Guide table to adjust machine settings. A kiss cut is a cut that only goes through the iron-on and leaves the liner intact.

Step 4. Press CUT.

Application instructions

NOTE: To ensure best results, test a piece of Cricut® Flex Iron-on in an inconspicuous part of the item

prior to application.

Step 1. Wash fabric before applying iron-on.

Step 2. Remove unwanted pieces from the iron-on using the weeder tool found in the Cricut® Basic Tool Set.

Step 3. Set iron heat between RAYON and WOOL with steam setting OFF.

Step 4. For 10 to 15 seconds, use iron to preheat the fabric where you will be applying iron-on. Step 5. Position iron-on on fabric (backing will face you). Cover with a lightweight press cloth. Step 6. Press with iron for 60 to 70 seconds, using light pressure when moving the iron and firm pressure when the iron is stationary.

Step 7. For 15 to 20 seconds, press tip of iron around edges of iron-on image to secure it.

Step 8. Let cool for 5 seconds; peel away backing. If iron-on is not completely fastened, replace press cloth and repeat steps 6 and 7 until properly set.

Before you begin, designate a new Cricut® StrongGrip cutting mat and cutting blade just for your Flex Iron-on.

Tips

• To ensure best results, test a piece of iron-on on an inconspicuous part of the item prior to application.

• Wash embellished item inside-out in cold water. Do not use bleach. • For use with all Cricut® machines.
