Ceramic Cooling Tower Corporation (CCTC) is an industry leader with a global reputation for high quality cooling tower design and construction. CCTC is one of the world's premier manufac-turers of heat transfer and thermal energy equipment for air conditioning, refrigeration, and industrial process cool-ing. As an industry leader in research and development, CCTC offers an extensive product line of cooling towers, several of which are CTI-Certified.

OLUTIONS

Founded in 1947, CCTC quickly estab-lished the concept of the "permanent" cool-ing tower structure, while pioneercool-ing the use of non-clogging ceramic tile fill material. The successful marketing of this "perma-nence" concept evolved progressively to a family of long-life fiberglass cooling tower structures. This pioneering spirit, combined with years of research and development in materials and structures, led to today's state-of-the-art cooling tower structures composed of hi-tech pultruded structural members. Offering many advanced features available only from CCTC, these towers solve today's cooling tower requirements.

Lower Installed Cost – The simple support requirements, generally consisting of only two parallel I-beams, result from the heavy-duty construction and structural strength of the ULTRALITE®100 and PERMALITE®200

tow-ers. Rigging costs are minimized because the ULTRALITE100 and PERMALITE200 ship

fully assembled.

Long Life – Both towers use high-performance fill materials: PERMAGRID®tile for

PERMALITEtowers; and economical, lighter-weight PVC fill for the ULTRALITES. The use of superior mechanical components, high quality resin systems, ultraviolet inhibitors, and gel-coating results in factory-assembled cooling towers with impressive life-span advantages over conventional towers. Low Maintenance –The FRP structure will not rust, rot, corrode, or deteriorate, and the mechanical equipment requires little maintenance. The easy-cleaning, one-piece FRP basin is leak-resistant.

Compatible Design and Access– The eye-pleasing design of these towers can maximize architectural compatibility. Visual inspections and maintenance are simplified, and the removable louvers provide conven-ient access to the interior of the unit. Because of size and weight advantages, these compact towers enable easy and flexible placement.

Tough and Refined –ULTRALITE600 and

PERMALITE600 Modular Cooling Towers

com-bine a high-quality, heavy-duty fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) structure and durable mechanical components for enduring performance.

No Deterioration –The tough FRP structure is fire-retardant and self-extinguishing, with a flame spread rating of less than 25 per ASTM E-84. Its advanced fire-resistant design earns the PERMALITEtower both FM and IRI approval for use without a fire sprinkler system.

Long Life –These pre-fabricated, field-assembled cooling towers have impressive lifespan advantages over conventional towers. Both utilize high-performance fill materials – PERMAGRIDtile for the PERMALITE

tower, and light, economical PVC fill for the ULTRALITE. Exterior and interior surfaces incorporate a high quality resin system, hand-applied uni-directional fiberglass, gel-coating for long life, and ultraviolet inhibitors. All assembly connections utilize unidirectional fiberglass-reinforced members with stainless steel attachment hardware. Low Maintenance –These exceptional towers require little maintenance, demon-strate energy efficiency, and provide enduring performance far surpassing towers of similar size.

Flexible Placement –The towers are molded in sections for rapid field assembly in mini-mum space, including installation at grade, on a roof top, or even in a mechanical room.

ERFORMANCE

The ULTRALITE100 Series cooling towers are versatile performers whose lightweight design permits easy lifting to rooftop loca-tions, particularly for comfort cooling applications. Architectural integrity is built-in, as the attractive design needs no screening. Due to its heavy-duty construc-tion, support requirements are minimal, consisting of a hot-dipped galvanized steel base.

Rigging costs are minimized because the ULTRALITE100 ships fully assembled with

all motors and drives factory installed and aligned. The modular design enables units to be multiplexed for larger installations, eliminating the time and expense associated with field-erected cooling towers.

EADINESS

Each ULTRALITE100 Cooling Tower leaves the CCTC factory ready for immediate operation. The tower structure consists of a high-performance, fiberglass-reinforced polyester (FRP) composite laminate, engi-neered to ensure durability.

Tower fill consists of cross-corrugated PVC film supported by stainless steel or FRP members. Drift eliminators are wave-formed PVC with ultraviolet (UV) inhibitors. Both have a flame spread of 15 or less. The UV-protected fiberglass structure and basin are fabricated with fire-retardant resins, thus eliminating rust and corrosion.

PECIFICATIONS

The ULTRALITE100 Series is

available in two basic cell sizes: •The XL-36 measures 81" x 81".

•The larger XL-75 measures 98" x 128". Capacities range from 47 to 232 nominal tons per cell, and multiple cells can be used for larger applications. Confirming that the performance of these towers is commensurate with the quality of con-struction, the thermal performance ratings are certified by the Cooling Technology Institute (CTI) in accordance with their standard, STD-201 (96). The PERMALITE200 uses CCTC's PERMAGRID®

ceramic tile fill, guaranteed to provide serv-ice for 25 years, assuring a PERMALITE200

owner of thermal performance longevity. Tiles are stacked by hand in a predeter-mined pattern after tower assembly. The combination of a strong support system and the strength of the tile assures the preven-tion of water and air flow distorpreven-tion. PERMAGRID's hardness, density, strength, and composition eliminate problems that arise from fill distortion, which disrupts the designed water and results in inefficient water cooling and higher electricity con-sumption. PERMAGRIDis unaffected by UV exposure, water treatment chemicals, fungal attack, and temperature extremes, including icing.

TRUCTURE

The tower walls are fabricated of pultruded fiberglass members. The fan enclosure and basin are made of molded FRP structural fiberglass – a material of exceptional strength that will not rust, rot, deteriorate, or leak. The basin interior surfaces are tool-finished gel-coat (with UV inhibitors), have a flame spread rating of 25 or less per ASTM E-84, and are self-extinguishing. The PERMALITE200 is an extremely sturdy tower,

capable of withstanding winds in excess of 100 MPH, while complying with seismic Zone 4 building codes. Because of its practical and attractive modular design, multiple towers can be installed in minimum space for larger cooling requirements.

PERMALITE600 modular cooling towers

combine structural fiberglass construction, CCTC's "permanent" PERMAGRID®Ceramic

Tile Fill, and advanced technology to produce significant performance advan-tages over conventional cooling towers.

The PERMAGRIDtile fill is the most durable

fill in the industry, with a guaranteed mini-mum 25 years of service. Made from domestic clay to strict specifications, the clay is heat fired to create a fill that is immune to traditional fill deterioration problems. Because tile fill is unaffected by ultraviolet exposure and fungal attack, PERMALITEtowers are unusually well-suited

for harsh operating environments involving temperature extremes. Characterized by large openings, PERMAGRIDtile is an

excel-lent performer in the high-solid contents environment of dirty water applications.
