What is Success By 6?
United Way Success By 6 is the nation’s largest network of early childhood coalitions focused on improving school readiness through community change. Since 1995, United Way of Central Florida’s Success By 6 has focused on early literacy to help children enter school ready to succeed.If children don’t develop properly when they are young, they are more likely to drop out of school, become a teen parent, require governmental assistance and go to jail.
If we don’t take action now, we will continue to create a segment of society who cannot participate fully in community life. We will all face higher taxes to support programs for people who are dependent, an increase in crime and a decline in the USA’s ability to compete in the world’s economy.

this year the early literacy program, ReadingPals, will be offered in 14 elementary schools in Polk
and Highlands counties. The program offers our community a wonderful opportunity to volunteer
directly with kindergarten students in the classroom. 200 volunteer ReadingPals are needed to read to more than 600 children, helping to ensure that more children will be reading at grade level by third grade. ReadingPals are asked to read one hour a week, every week throughout the school year. the hour you give will have effects that last a lifetime. Join this unique opportunity to
