To the Designers of our Future,

we live in extraordinary times: the environment, technology, politics, the economy and society are changing faster than ever. In today’s international environment it is more impor-tant than any time in the past that companies generate new, forward-thinking business ideas, and implement them at a high speed. In the creation and delivery of products and ser-vices, Supply Chain and Operations Management plays a cen-tral role, driving innovative design, management and organi-zational development.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Holger Günzel

Head of Department of Business Administration

Dear prospective students,

the successful implementation of an operations strategy requires discernment, experience, creativity, and a measure of luck. Because these things can hardly be taught, our part-ner companies bring challenging projects to enable practical experience of the concepts and tools.

Seize this unique opportunity to gain the skills and abilities for future-oriented design of international supply chains as a foundation for your future career.

(4)

The Master in Supply Chain and Operations Management is very different from other programs with substantive, method-ological and didactic aspects:

Holistic approach to value creation processes for

products and services

Focus on model-based decision-making

compe-tence for the generation of future-oriented business

models

Hands-on project-based learning and course-related

cooperation with companies

Genuine internationality through an integrated

semester abroad at prestigious universities to

obtain a double degree

(5)

In an international IBM-CEO study in 2010, the majority of over 1,500 CEOs interviewed cited the subjects of creativity, cus-tomer relations and operational agility as main responses to the increasing complexity of the future.

Creativity means finding solution-oriented approaches based on essential future factors, whilst still in the strategic phase. Sup-ply chains for products and services should be designed flexibly enough to withstand a degree of uncertainty from the outset. This requires the Operations Manager of the future to demon-strate not only expertise, but also practical and methodological competence, combined in such fields as modeling, simulation, future management along with creative leadership and a high degree of personal and social competence.

In addition to the substantive mediation of an international framework, implementing projects successfully in cross-func-tional and internacross-func-tional teams requires the acquisition of strate-gic development skills.

The target group for this Master’s Degree program are university of applied science and university graduates of Bachelor’s Degree programs in the fields of business administration, industrial engineering or information systems, with a solid grounding in supply chain and operations management.

* Companies and topics might vary for each student batch; consult the web pages for the latest shortlist. A practical requirement in the field of international Supply Chain and Operations Management is a considerable degree of competence, i.e. the ability to apply learned knowledge in new contexts with a significant degree of uncertainty, and remain capable of making decisions.

Knowledge acquisition is to be completed to a large extent through practical experience in and around the field, utilizing resources such as case studies, practical reports and research facilities. The program is supported by a pool of companies, which provide students with practical projects and special-ist advisors to achieve the objective of integrating theory with practice.

Cooperating may include companies like*

 BMW AG

 CCR Logistics Systems AG  Dachser GmbH & Co. KG

 Danone GmbH

 MAN Truck & Bus AG

 REICHHART Kontrakt-Logistik GmbH  Siemens AG

 Wassermann AG and many more...

Studying in Munich

In Munich, tradition and innovation, industry and science, cul-tural and tourist attractions all contribute to the outstand-ing quality of life the city offers. Companies includoutstand-ing Sie-mens and BMW have their headquarters, in the city, which is a vibrant centre of cultural activity – a city of theatre and music, literature, film, museums and festivals. Situated close to the Alps, the city is a great starting point for almost unlimited out-door activities. In fact, Munich ranks among the top ten most livable cities in the world*.

Pasing Campus

Studying at the Pasing Campus is like studying in a world city in the countryside. Along with the faculty for Applied Social Sciences, the School of Management is directly next to Pasing Park. With a combination of old and new buildings, the cam-pus has an inspiring yet familiar atmosphere. Pasing is located in the southwest of Munich, and is easily accessible by public transportation (subway, bus).
