The JRCNMT will hold its fall meeting October 28–29 in Oklahoma City, OK. Programs undergoing review were published in the June 2011 issue of the Journal of Nuclear Medicine Technology.

LIST OF ACCREDITED NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMS

The list of accredited nuclear medicine technology programs follows.

The list is updated after each board meeting. The list is also available on the Web site at www.jrcnmt.org.

The directory of accredited programs identifies those programs that have met or exceeded the Essentials and Guidelines for an Accredited Educational Program for the Nuclear Medicine Technologist. These programs have voluntarily undergone a peer review process established by the JRCNMT. Programmatic accreditation by the JRCNMT provides assurance to applicants that the program provides education based on recognized professional standards.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS Length

The professional portion of the program is 1 to 2 years in length. Institutions offering accredited programs may pro- vide an integrated educational sequence leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree over a period of 2 or 4 years.

Programs vary in length depending on the admission criteria. Some programs admit students directly from high school; others require prior higher education for entrance.

Prerequisites

Applicants for admission must have graduated from high school or the equivalent and have completed post- secondary courses in human anatomy and physiology with laboratory, general physics, college algebra, chemistry with laboratory, oral and written communications, medical terminology, social sciences, and humanities.

Curriculum

The curriculum includes methods of patient care, cross-sectional anatomy, nuclear medicine statistics, nuclear medicine and radiation physics, radiation biology, radiation safety and protection, nuclear medicine instrumentation, quality control and quality assurance, com- puter applications for nuclear medicine, diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures, immunology, radionuclide therapy, PET, CT, radionuclide chemistry and radiopharmacy, medical ethics and law, health-care administration, health sciences research methods, medical infor- matics, and pharmacology.

Standards

Accreditation standards are minimum educational standards against which programs are evaluated. Each new program is assessed in accordance with the standards, and accredited programs are periodically reviewed to determine whether they remain in substantial com- pliance. The standards are available on the Web site at http://www.jrcnmt.org.
