School Reopening Phases

Phase 1: Reopen on August 13th with robust distance learning for all students.

Phase 2: As conditions permit, bring subsets of students back for support and/or SEL activities.

Phase 3: As conditions permit, bring all students back in-person in a part-time/Blended model.

Phase 4: As conditions permit, bring all students back in-person in a full-time modified or normal schedule.

Note: It is impossible to predict a timeframe for each phase - timing will be dictated by

community health conditions and guidelines. It is also possible to revert back to previous

phases if conditions dictate.

Departments and the Tech Department for going above and beyond to ensure students were in the right place at the right time.

The Weekend in Between

A number of LGSUHSD staff, teachers, students, and their families were forced to relocate due to power outages and the

various fires in the Santa Cruz, Santa Clara and San Mateo

Counties.

Special Ed and Mentoring

● Every parent of a student with an IEP received an individualized Distance Learning Plan (DLP) prior to the start of school.

○ The DLP communicated the frequency/duration of services the student will receive during remote instruction, as well as a list of accommodations and modifications based on the last signed IEP.

● General Education teachers received a list of accommodations/modifications for every student with an IEP and Section 504 Plan.

● Mentor Program Updated:

○ 20 Mentors were trained on August 17th. Training covered the following topics:

■ Expectations, phone/email script when communicating with mentees/parents, CANVAS, AERIES, CASSY, phone tree, and documentation log.

○ Mentors will be paired with an admin/counselor team and meet weekly to discuss caseload and review documentation log.

○ Students may be exited at the 6 week grading period, with others possibly being

added as early as the 3 week grading period.

Transition to Phase 2

Schools may reopen for in-person instruction after Santa Clara County has been off the county monitoring list for at least 14 days. Formal reopening decisions and processes will be made in consultation with SCCOE.

Phase 2 Measures:

● Develop protocols for who will be brought back to campus and in what capacity

● Provide protective equipment to comply with CDPH guidance for students and staff

● Develop a plan that ensures physical distancing among staff returning to sites

● Provide returning teachers and staff with support in finding childcare

● Set limitations on access to school sites, including screening of students, limits on non-student, non-employee access, and safe arrangement of facility use

● Plan for surveillance testing of staff based on the local disease trends

● Develop strategies to limit physical interaction during meal service

● Regularly procure the necessary sanitation supplies for preventive disinfection
