LAY CATHOLIC STUDIES

The Athenaeum of Ohio Lay Pastoral Ministry Program is sponsored by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and offers lay Catholics the opportunity to grow in faith, knowledge and skills in order to serve families, communities and the Church more effectively. Since 1975, the LPMP has equipped ordinary Catholics to accomplish extraordinary things in the name of Christ. Weeknight and Saturday classes fit into busy adult schedules, allowing participants to maintain job, family and community commitments while answering a call to deeper discipleship. Classes count toward catechist certification and serve as a prerequisite for application to the permanent diaconate formation. Interviews are now underway for fall classes at the main campus and Good Shepherd in Montgomery. We are offering a 25% lay tuition discount this year. Call 513-231-1200 for information or to set up an interview.

FAMILY CELEBRATION HONORS

HUMANAE VITAE

The Archdiocese of Cincinnati is teaming up with the Couple to Couple League to host a family conference this summer that celebrates the 50th anniversary of

Humanae Vitae. Mark your calendars for July 6-7, 2018

at the Sharonville Convention for "Families, become

what you are!" Great speakers, including Christopher

West and Janet Smith; Spanish track; full programming for children; Family Fun Day on Friday afternoon; family concert on Friday evening; daily Mass, Adoration. Visit

www.cclconvention.com for full details and to register.

All human beings are made in the image of God—free to choose good or evil. Given man’s fallen nature, our tendency is to choose evil. We Christians call the choosing of evil “sin.” As we all can watch from our home televisions and other media devices, the increase in sin is climbing at a rapid rate! How can we stop this increase in participation with evil? This proclivity to sin must be restrained through moral training and the formation of a healthy conscience. And the process has to begin at a young age — with an individual’s character shaped, honed, and encouraged by loving instructors, usually the family, and together with the faith community. As the conscience is trained and strengthened, the individual has a fighting chance to reject sin and choose to do good more often than not.

So, we encourage you to register your children for our Parish School of Religion (PSR) classes beginning again in September, 2018. The registration form can be downloaded from our website, www.sttm.org, filled out and mailed in to Kate at St. Thomas More, 800 Ohio Pike,

Cincinnati, 45245. Come and join us so we have families and church united together to teach our young people how to be disciples of Jesus Christ and how to choose to do the right thing. ~ Becky Ready, DRE

INVITATION TO SERVE

INVITATION TO SERVE

INVITATION TO SERVE

INVITATION TO SERVE

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a Catholic lay organization of men and women which help the poor and those in temporary need. We are not a social service agency. We are a person-to-person ministry whose members see the face of Christ in those who are suffering. You might be surprised to know that we have people who are suffering right here in our own parish.

The St. Thomas More Conference, a member parish of the St. Martin Deanery, was aggregated on December 7, 1964. We have been serving the people of this parish and surrounding area for 53 years. We work closely with other churches and social service agencies to address the needs of those less fortunate.

We meet every other Monday with the exception of July and August. During those summer months we meet once a month. Our meetings last a maximum of one hour unless home visits have been scheduled.

We currently have sixteen members and wish to extend to you an invitation to serve with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and put into action your Catholic faith to serve those who are in need both Catholics and Non-Catholics.

If you are interested in serving with this ministry, please call the SVDP line at 753-2561, leave a message and we will return your call. We appreciate

your consideration to serve.
