(Ricky Manalo/ Pia de Leon)

1. In the presence of our God, as we gather here in Christ,

Feel the Spirit breathe upon us, the breath of life, graced and divine. 2. We have come to break the bread; we have come to share our lives.

Let us bring these fruits to the table, the love of God, yours and mine! Refrain: Ang Katawan ni Kristo (2x)

Behold the Body of Christ, Jesus our Savior and Life! Rejoice, O people of God! We are the Body of Christ

3. When we gather in our homes, through our prayers and our meals, We are fed and nourished together, our families, broken and blessed. 4. In the household of the Lord, where we come to share the meal,

We are fed the words of our Savior, one family, strengthened and healed. (Refrain)

Bridge: Is not the meal that we bless and share a communion in the life of Christ? One bread, one blessing, one cup makes us one body in our Lord. In the presence of our God, by the justice that is shown. We will build a kingdom together, the love of Christ given to all. (Refrain)

The images are placed on a gentle HAND OF GOD the Father, in a bold -accented brown lines, from whose Uncreated Wisdom has planned that all these events will be unfolded according to His will, giving us the whole picture of what we are to celebrate now, the 500 years of our Christianity.

Indeed, we are Gifted to Give.

500 Years of Christianity Meaning of the Symbol

THE ELEMENTS . Source: CBCP Sept 18, 2020

The CROSS signifies the Christian sign of salvation. It is well depicted as the Ferdinand Magellan’s cross.

The SHIP, in a subtle depiction of its tip, signifies the navigators or the

expedition who brought the faith in our native land. More so, it also signifies the Church likened to the Ark of Noah or as the boat of St. Peter, the sacrament of our salvation.

The HOVERING COLOR OF BLUE shows various symbolisms.

It depicts the Holy Spirit in a form of a dove. Its circular pattern of the Holy Spirit shows that it navigates all around the world as God is a missionary, God who commissioned the Church for world mission.

The central figure is a graphic art, depicted from the painting of Fernando

Amorsolo’s “First Baptism in the Philippines”

The background is the “PHILIPPINE SUN” it is derived from the Philippine

flag, as it upholds the idea of our country being the pearl of the orient sea. The sun also signifies new life, new beginning, and the Risen Christ - the hope of our salvation.

Underneath is the “ICHTHUS” or the fish which symbolizes Jesus, as the

early Christians would use it to introduce themselves to fellow Christians. The red color signifies that the blood of the martyrs had been the seed of our Christian faith in imitation of Christ

The blue beads depict the HOLY ROSARY; we are a nation in love

(Freddie Aguilar)

Koro:

Ibon mang may layang lumipad/Kulungin mo at umiiyak. Bayan pa kayang sakdal-dilag/Ang di magnasang makaalpas. Pilipinas kong minumutya/ Pugad ng luha at dalita

Aking adhika, makita kang sakdal laya.

(Freddie Aguilar)

My country, The Philippines / Land of gold and flowers Love bestowed to her/ offered beauty and glow.

Due to her beauty and grace/ Foreigners are tempted. My country, they enslaved you/Gave you endless suffering. Chorus:

Even bird that flies freely will cry once caged. My land so fair yearns to break free.

Philippines that I so adore/ Nest of tears and poverty. All that I desire to see you rise and free.

2021 YEAR OF MISSIO AD GENTES

MISSION PRAYER

God, our loving Father,

You sent your Son into the world

To proclaim the Good News of Salvation to all: To sinners, the poor, oppressed, the sick, The abandoned and neglected.

He gave his life on the Cross for us And rose again to new life

To redeem us and reconcile us with you. You sent your Holy Spirit to the Apostles To continue the work of your Son And to lead all to salvation We thank you, Father,

For bringing us from darkness into light. Through your loving plan, 500 years ago Missionaries came to our land to proclaim The Gospel of Jesus, Your Son, to our ancestors That made us your people and the Church. The gift of faith has accompanied us Through both darkness and lights,

Defeats and victories of our history as Your people. Our faith has become for us true light

That shines in the darkness.

Renew in us the grace of your Spirit

That impels us to be witnesses of Jesus, Your Son, To a world broken by greed, violence, injustice, Sickness and suffering.

May our faith bring us to unity as your children To care for and love one another.

May the Holy Spirit empower us To be proclaimers of the Good News

To our brothers and sisters in Asia and to all nations. Give us the sincere desire to help others

To come to faith in the Lord Jesus To share in Your joy and life.

May the Blessed Mother, the Star of

Evangelization, accompany us and pray for us As we live and share our faith with others.

May our strong love and devotion to her as our Mahal na Ina Form us to be true disciples and witnesses of Jesus to all, Always ready to be sent, and to be obedient

To whatever Jesus asks of us.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever. Amen.

The building that houses Magellan’s Cross.

Magellan’s Cross is a Christian cross planted by explorers of the Spanish expedition of the first circumnavigation of the world, led by Ferdinand Magellan, upon arriving in Cebu in the Philippines. The Cross was planted after the natives of the island accepted Christianity including Cebu's king and queen, Rajah Humabon and Queen Juana.
