Summary Overview of Request for Proposal (RFP) and Services

Requested

This RFP is requesting that providers submit responses that include services and support relating to production hardware infrastructure hosting for LAUP.

Los Angeles Universal Preschool (“LAUP”) is looking to move their existing data center infrastructure to a hosted facility in which some of LAUP’s equipment will remain in production and legacy equipment is to be migrated onto hosted hardware. This hybrid hosting model will ensure LAUP can continue to benefit from hardware investments made through the remaining life cycle of the equipment.

LAUP currently manages and maintains their datacenter infrastructure in-house in its corporate headquarters; 888 S. Figueroa Los Angeles CA. Conditions exist where power and cooling provided by the building is unpredictable due to the nature of the building’s routine maintenance schedule of their safety systems. This affects LAUP’s ability to provide optimal availability to systems within the data center.

LAUP’s core server infrastructure runs on HP Blade & Hitachi AMS SAN technology. Infrastructure is 100% virtual using VMware and Citrix at the Hypervisor Layer. High availability, load balancing and redundancy are fully implemented and must exist in the proposed solution. A proper solution would require the service provider to support and integrate their hosting model into our existing infrastructure. As LAUP equipment reaches end of life or capacity the hosted model must supplement or replace affected equipment.

Updates / Clarification Sumary

6/19/2013 Questions and feedback from the majority of participating recipients have

prompted for clarification to several sections of this RFP. This update is to clarify those concerns and as a result LAUP will extend the timeline of the RFP by one week. Updates are shown in bold in the RFP.

Outline of changes and clarifications

• Timeline extended one week.

• Correction: LAUP servers that will remain are: HP BL460 G7 Qty: 4

• Overland Tape library is used for archiving of monthly data backups to tape. You can provide an alternate method for archiving of monthly data backups. Tapes will be shipped to offsite vendor such as Recall or Iron Mountain for permanent archiving and storage. • Qty and Specifications of hosted servers to be determined by the resoruces needed to

Hithachi Storage Breakdown: Highlited groups to be migrated: Yellow=SATA Brown=SAS Non-highligted groups are to remain on the Hitachi until end of life or capacity is reached.

• Managed hosting of storage is assumed that backups are handled by the provider. DR on the other hand is not an expectation for this proposal.

• Managed Sharepoint and Exchange are a Phase II project. For purposes of this RFP a cost per user is all that is required.
