SET 2016 Notification | Symbiosis Entrance Test 2016 Dates

Symbiosis Entrance Test SET 2016 is a common written test for the admission processes

of undergraduateinstitutes of Symbiosis International University [SIU] estd as Deemed to be University.

It is a mandatory written test for the admission process for the undergraduate programmes of the following Symbiosis Institutes namely:

1. Symbiosis Law School [SLS] - Pune 2. Symbiosis Law School [SLS] - Noida

3. Symbiosis Institute of Computers Studies and Research [SICSR] 4. Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies [SCMS] - Pune 5. Symbiosis Center for Media & Communication [SCMC] 6. Symbiosis School of Economics [SSE]

7. Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies [SCMS] - Noida 8. Symbiosis Institute of Design [SID]

9. Symbiosis School of Liberal Arts [SSLA] 10. Symbiosis Law School [SLS] - Hyderabad

Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT) also admits students through JEE Main conducted at National level

However, the SET is not mandatory for:

1. Symbiosis institute of Technology (SIT) 2. Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS) 3. Symbiosis College of Nursing (SCON)

4. Symbiosis School of Photography (SSP)

5. Symbiosis School for Liberal Arts (SSLA): [For International Baccalaureate (IB) students

are exempt from SET]

Important Dates for SET 2016

Online Registration Closes: 14th April 2016 (Thursday) Payment Closes on: 18th April 2016 (Monday)

Date of SET-2016 Exam: 07th May 2016 (Saturday) Symbiosis Entrance Test Time

Law/Design: 09.30 am to 12.00 noon; Engineering/General/Health Sciences: 02.30 pm to

05.00 pm

SET Result: 20th May 2016 (Friday)

SET 2016 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria depends upon the course and institute you wish to apply. For engineering, health sciences, law design and other courses the conditions for eligibility shall differ

General eligibility conditions for Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) 2016 shall be as follows: The candidate must have passed XII (10+2) examination from any recognized Board with a minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST candidates)

Students who have appeared for their Standard XII final examination and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply, subject to submission of passing certificate at the time of the final

admission

Their admission will be provisional and subject to furnishing proof of securing minimum qualification marks

Admission Procedure

Candidate should note that SET is only the first step. Each Symbiosis institute has its independent selection process

SET-2016 has 5 different papers; namely, General, Design, Law, Engineering and Health

Sciences. The test will be conducted in two sessions, Morning and Afternoon

A candidate may take more than one paper. However, he will have to choose one paper from morning session and one paper from afternoon session

A candidate aspiring to pursue an undergraduate program at Symbiosis should carefully follow the actions to be taken in 3 stages mentioned below:

SET 2016 Application Form/Procedure Stage-1

Register online at www.set-test.org

You may register for one paper in the morning; viz, Law or Design and one paper in the afternoon session; viz, Engineering, General or Health Sciences

For Engineering and Health Sciences, if a candidate wishes to seek admission on the basis of any other test other than SET he/she need not register for SET and apply directly to the concerned institute.

You need to upload your latest scanned photograph at the time of registration

Follow the instructions for payment of test fee of Rs.1500/- on the SET website. This includes charges for prospectus of the undergraduate programmes at Symbiosis International University Print "admit card" directly from the SET website from 26th April 2016 (Monday) onwards. Bring the admit card and a photo identity to the test centre. It will be authenticated during the Test (Candidates shall preserve the authenticated admit card till the admission processes of the

desired Symbiosis institutes are over. If the admit card is lost, no duplicate admit card will be issued). Appear for the test

Stage-2: Apply online to the desired SIU’s constituent institutes

Candidates can apply to an institute through the SET Website (www.settest.org). Candidates may also apply to the institute through the institute’s Website

To apply for admission to an institute, a candidate must register for the relevant SET paper. For example, to apply to Symbiosis Law School, register for Law paper at SET

Candidates applying to Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT), Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS), Symbiosis College of Nursing (SCON) or Symbiosis School of Liberal Arts [SSLA] with other than SET-2016 score should refer to the respective institute websites and apply

Stage-3: Attend further selection process of the chosen institutes, if invited

Each institute has its own cutoff, as mentioned in the Prospectus

The institutes will announce short listed candidates for attending further selection process; the institutes will announce list of short listed candidates and the waiting list

Important

While adequate care is taken in ensuring that there are no mistakes in reading the answer sheet by the scanning machine, there is no provision of revaluation of the answer sheet of any candidates

The scores published by the Symbiosis Test Secretariat shall be final and shall not be subject to any appeal or revaluation

The SET score card will be available on the website for a period of one month from the date of declaration of results i.e. from 20th May 2016 (Friday) to 21st June 2016 (Tuesday) Those candidates paying through cash or demand draft should ensure that:

i) Bank challan for cash payment, (Axis Bank/Indian Bank) or

ii) Demand Draft along with payment advice form for DD payment reaches

SET Structure

SET is an aptitude test and objective in nature for all the papers. Each question has four options as answers. There is no negative marking for wrong answers. All sections are mandatory The duration of SET is 150 minutes comprising of objective questions

The constituent institutes use scores of the test for admission

Papers: SET is conducted in two sessions for five question papers. A candidate may apply to

take one paper from each session

Institutes: The constituent institutes use scores of the following for admission Law (09.30 am to 12.00 noon)

1. Logical Reasoning: 30 questions, 30 marks 2. Legal Reasoning: 30 questions, 30 marks 3. Analytical Reasoning: 30 questions, 30 marks 4. Reading Comprehension: 30 questions, 30 marks 5. General Knowledge: 30 questions, 30 marks

Total 150 questions, 150 marks

Design (9.30 am to 12.00 noon.): Design: 150 questions, Marks 150 General (2.30 pm to 5.00 pm)

1. General English: 40 questions, 40 marks 2. Quantitative: 40 questions, 40 marks

3. General Awareness: 40 questions, 40 marks

4. Analytical & Logical Reasoning: 30 question, 30 marks

Total 150 questions, 150 marks Engineering (02.30 pm to 05.00 pm)

1. Physics: 25 questions, 50 marks 2. Chemistry: 25 questions, 50 marks 3. Mathematics: 50 question, 100 marks

Total: 100 questions, 200 marks

Health Sciences (02.30 pm to 05.00 pm)

1. Physics: 25 questions, 50 marks 2. Chemistry: 25 questions, 50 marks 3. Biology: 50 questions, 100 marks

Total: 100 questions, 200 marks

Test Cities

SET test is conducted in 19 cities. A candidate may choose any one city. The centre and its address will be informed to the candidate on the admit card

Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolhapur, Kolkata, Kota, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nashik, Noida, Pune

*Symbiosis Test Secretariat reserves the right to change or allot a city other than the one

requested by the candidate in the event of the requested city is not being available for any reason

How to apply

You may apply online for admission to an undergraduate Institute of the University; the application fee is Rs.1000/- per Institute except for SICSR (The application fee for SICSR is Rs.1000/- for one programme and Rs.2000/- for two programmes)

There are two options to apply for admission to an Institute:

1. From SET website

While paying SET fees online, a candidate may also pay the application fee for admission to a desired Institute. Even after closing of the payment for SET, a candidate may still apply to an Institute through the SET website

2. From the Institute website

A candidate may also register separately for the SET on www.set-test.org and for the Institute by visiting the respective Institutes's website. Please note, registering for the SET test and paying fees for the SET test is mandatory before registering for an Institute/program

It is important to see that a candidate appears for the appropriate SET paper to seek admission An Institute may also be offering more than one programme. A candidate should ensure the desired programme is selected

You cannot apply to an Institute that does not accept the score of the test that he / she chooses to give. For example, if you choose to give the General test only, you cannot apply to SLS

Similarly, if you choose to give the Law test only, you cannot

apply to SSE or SCMS or SICSR

You may give both tests and apply to all the four Institutes

Similarly, you may give the Design test and the Engineering/Health Sciences test and also apply to SID, SIT, SIHS and SCON

After declaration of the SET result, the Institute to which you have applied will conduct the further selection process for short listed candidates. The schedule for the same will be published on the websites of the respective Institutes

Further Selection Process of the chosen Institute(s)

i. Each Institute has its own cutoff, as mentioned in the Prospectus

ii. The Institute will announce short listed candidates for attending the further selection process iii. The individual Institute as per its admission schedule, will announce the successful short- listed candidates and the wait-listed condition

Reservation Policy

As per the UGC guideline 2006, the reservation policy for all the institutes under the University is as given below:

Within the sanctioned intake

SC-15%; ST-7.5%; Differently Abled-3%

Over and above the intake

Kashmir Migrants: 02 seats per program International Students: 15%

Defense Quota: 05% for SLS-PUNE and SICSR
