2 PRODUCT BRIEF: ASENTINEL TELECOM EXPENSE MANAGEMENT (TEM)

Reduce Telecommunications Costs without Reducing Service

Today, telecommunications expenses are a significant portion of the average firm’s IT spending, consuming between 25 and 35 percent of the IT budget. Telecommunication costs typically run between one to two percent of an organization’s revenue. Added to these costs is the high probability that the bills received from vendors may be inaccurate. An estimated seven to twelve percent of telecom service charges can be saved by the average large corporation, representing approximately eight million dollars a year. In addition, up to 85 percent of a typical enterprise’s telecom bills are not audited and are simply paid in full.

CA realizes that excess telecommunications costs often result from billing errors or operating inefficiencies. Implementing a TEM solution can help you catch one-time and ongoing invoicing inaccuracies as well as low-dollar items often missed in audits that account for half of the potential savings. It can also help enhance your knowledge of your network so you can better allocate costs or forecast future expenditures. Business process outsourcing only shifts the problem to an external source; it does not capture all errors by auditing every line item of every invoice, nor does it give you the business intelligence needed to stay on top of your telecom expenses.

Asentinel: Control Rising Telecom Costs

Asentinel provides real-time control of your telecom expenses by identifying invoicing errors, automating provisioning/order management, invoicing and reporting processes, and maximizing resources—all in order to significantly reduce telecommunications expenditures.

CA’s TEM software, Asentinel 6.0, is available in a customer-hosted or Asentinel-hosted (ASP/SaaS) deployment. All functionality is resident in the “core system”: one Oracle platform and one application instance supports all lifecycle functionality. As such, all components are integrated in real time. Asentinel delivers a comprehensive and flexible medium to align your staff—and their corresponding workflow and hierarchy—with a sophisticated audit engine to ensure validity of charges, tariffs, inventory, and configurable business rules.

FIGURE B : ASENTINEL — ENTERPRISE TEM APPLICATION

Asentinel’s automated telecom expense management software integrates the critical TEM functions of telecom asset lifecycle management and their associated contractual obligations. This includes telecommunications rate plans and commitments, as well as contract terms and conditions.

A Potential Seven to Twelve Percent Savings on Erroneous Telecom Bills

Asentinel offers the potential for seven to twelve cost savings on erroneous telecom bills (80 percent of which are wrong according to some industry watchers). Larger companies might also see cost savings in labor reduction or reassignment once they automate their TEM operations.

The software not only audits bills, but also automates the workflow and handling of invoices. In addition, Asentinel is a global solution with the ability to support multiple currencies, exchange rates, and even language localization (over 15 languages).
