INTRODUCTION
Why is Zappos moving from MTPA to the new VSSC Template?
The new templates will allow the Zappos NIS (New Item Setup) team to gather more attribute information from vendors, reducing both listing time and listing errors.
What does this mean for Vendors?
By providing more information up front we can reduce the time it takes to publish styles to the website. This will also reduce back and forth communication for more or clearer style
information.
How will this help the publication process?
Zappos runs into a large number of data errors during catalog publication, which need to be manually triaged by the Operations team, increasing time to site.
Looking Ahead
While there will be additional fields that require information, please note that taking extra time to provide the data up front will help to decrease the time to list products in the catalog
because we will have product specific templates and tickets will spend less time “waiting” for additional information. This will also help to decrease catalog publication errors, which
currently represent 20% of all new items published to the catalog.
Overall, moving to collect more product information from
vendors up front is expected to shorten product setup time
and decrease publication errors.
