I just went there for the first time, recently. I found it well worth the drive. They have a nice selection of clothing fabrics and home decorating. I was only going to look, (hah, hah!) and ended up finding the perfect fabric for a project I had in mind. The staffwoman was very knowledgeable. The assortment isn’t huge, but well-chosen. They also carry sewing machines and knitting supplies. They also have a nice assortment of items for kids.

Malden Mills Retail Store

www.maldenmillsstore.com Hours: M-Sat 8-3 550 Broadway

Lawrence, MA 01841 978.557-3242

The best Polar Fleece made and a nice store presentation. They have huge remnant sales 2-3 times a year. You can get on the list to be notified. For safety reasons, they do not allow kids into the plant (where the special sales take place). Only in the retail store.

There are so many stores to visit and too many to list here. You can go to the following web site to find a listing of stores anywhere in the USA. www.fabdir.com/massachusetts.html

From looking at the area codes, the list is probably at least 4 years old. So, call and check before you try to visit them, they may be out of

business (like North End Fabrics in Boston, sad to see them go.) And check the phone book for the new area code. Or, you can go to

www.switchboard.com and get current information there.

The information is current as of September 2002. I have listed shops that I have been to, or know people who highly recommend them. If you want to, you may contact me about any of the information. If something

changes, I appreciate your help in keeping the list up to date. And I am always interested in a new place to shop for fabric.
