There are interesting sights along the Keitele shores ranging from churches, the nostalgic environment of the Wanha railway station, and the sense of history of an old industrial town. Fantastic boating possibilities open up to travelers at the Suolahti visitor harbour and the intersection of boating and road traffic at Matilanvirta. Cultural thirst can be quenched at the Äänekoski Art Museum or by viewing the Laaja-Art pieces.

The new Äänekoski offers relaxing vacation style on its every acre. You will enjoy the nature and piquant cultural tones of the area based on your preferences. Stop at one site or move like the wind from one site to another. The attached map illustrates a suggestion for your holiday route. The 80 kilometer land route, which we have named the Keitele Loop, follows the

lush lake shores through towns and countryside of the new Äänekoski. You will see our most significant sites along the journey. If you like, you can rush through the loop in a day or you can stay as our guest for a longer period of time.

If you are going north from Jyväskylä, we recommend the fantastic Green Passage scenic road, which takes you to Konginkangas

at the E-4 intersection after passing through Kuusa in Laukaa, Äijälä, and Sumiainen.

It is easy to forget the every-day troubles in beautiful nature. In the summer Keitele invites you fishing, boating, cycling, or hiking on the nature trails. You can dive in for a swim whenever you like. Excellent ski trails fascinate the winter visitor. There are also plentiful guide and wilderness safari services available to the nature enthusiast.

You can enjoy the tranquility of the old forests in the Kapeenniemi wilder- ness-like outing area by observing flying squirrels or fishing for trout. Alternatively, the thrill-seeker will be delighted by whitewater rafting at Kapeenkoski. The best way to view the diverse nature of the

Äänekoski lake scenery is by taking the windy Singing Groke nature trail through mountains and beautiful peaty forests.

The traveler will encounter a rich palette of events at Uusi Äänekoski. During the nicest nights of the summer you can swing to Keitele Jazz or listen to the sweet melodies of the guitar at the Sumiainen Iron Wire Shake festival. The Suolahti international music camp offers high-quality musical experiences from different parts of the world for your enjoyment.

In addition to music, there are several other events in the area.

Martin Kievari is filled during summer nights with drama and comedy as Theater Europe Four takes the stage. The diverse program selection of the Suolahti Hall includes concerts and theatrical performances.

One should also not forget the high-quality sporting events, such as Huima basketball and soccer matches.

The Green Passage scenic road takes you to Konginkangas at the E-4 intersection after passing through Kuusa in Laukaa, Äijälä, and Sumiainen. The Keitele Loop follows

the Äänekoski - Konginkangas - Sumiainen - Suolahti route. The tour is approx. 80 kilometers long.
