Due to changes in Indian visa processing effective 01 March 2013, you must to apply directly to the Indian visa offices listed below. If at all possible you should visit IN PERSON.

If it is not possible for you to visit in person, then you can send the applications by courier to one of the appropriate primary application offices on the list below. Applications can be made in person or by courier to the primary offices. Applications accepted in person only at secondaries.

ON-LINE VISA APPLICATION for INDIAN VISAS

01 June 2013

All Indian visas must be applied for ON-LINE using the Indian visa

application computer system.

Persons applying for a visa to travel to India are required to go to the link

above to complete and register their applications on-line. After registering

on-line, the applicant must print out the application from the website and

submit it along with all necessary required documents. The old

hand-written form is no longer accepted for visa applications.

Do

Please record the interim unique reference number generated at the start of the online form. Please record the final reference number that is generated upon completion of your application. Provide an email address in your application so that your unique reference numbers can be emailed.

Please submit a confirmed and detailed itinerary if applying for a double/triple entry visa. However, this does not guarantee the issuance of a visa and the decision would still remain subject to the discretion of the High Commission of India.

Applications MUST be signed by the applicant him/herself on BOTH the top and bottom of the Form.

Sign the bottom of the form and under the photograph.

Before submitting your application, please ensure your passport has no valid visa for India. All fields on the Online Application Form must be completed in as much detail as possible. Don't

Offline/handwritten application forms will not be accepted. Photographs with a coloured background will not be accepted. Photographs only with a white/off white background will be accepted.

Please do not staple photograph to the application Form. Please paste it to the front of the Form.

Please ensure all applications requiring additional documents are completed prior to submission.

Visa application process

Log on to the website given above

Please note the interim Unique Reference Number located at the start, and on each page, of the Online Form once you begin. Guidance notes are also provided.

Complete all the required fields as specified.

Upon completing and saving the Online Application Form, applicants will receive an email with details of the final Reference Number, providing an email address has been given while filing the Form. Applicants will also have the option to Download/Print the application form at this stage. PRINT it.

Upon clicking Save, applicants will be redirected to the module that allows selection of the center for submission, mode of collection.

Upon completion, applicants will receive another email with details of the application made. All applicants will be required to sign a Declaration Form, along with the application.

TOURIST VISA

” - original real signed passport, valid for at least 7 months after return from India,

” - previous passport for Canadian passport holders not born in Canada,

” - one (1) fully completed and signed on-line visa application form, sign twice - under the photograph and at the bottom.

” - two (2) standard Canadian passport colour photographs, showing full face on white background. Face must be at least 30mm in length. Photos must be 50mmx50mm.

” - copy of one utility bill or government-issued ID proving place of residence.

” - When the applicant is a minor (less than 18 years of age), both the parents should sign the minor consent form and provide notarized photocopies of their valid passports. Both parents should sign the minor’s visa application form on page 2 only. Both parents must provide a notarized affidavit allowing for travel.

” - one Canadian reference must be written on the application form as a contact for authorities in case of any emergency. India references are not required for tourists.

” - BLS tourist visa application checklist.

” - a PIO applying for visa for the first time MUST submit their most recent Indian passport NOTE: do NOT buy an airline ticket until you have secured a visa for India, unless you are seeking a double/multi-entry visa, in which case you must provide proof of e-tickets.

BUSINESS VISA

” - original real signed passport, valid for at least 7 months after return from India,

” - previous passport for Canadian passport holders not born in Canada,

” - one (1) fully completed and signed on-line visa application form, sign twice - under the photograph and at the bottom.

” - two (2) standard Canadian passport colour photographs, showing full face on white background. Face must be at least 30mm in length. Photos must be 50x50mm.

” - one reference known to the applicant both in India and Canada must be supplied.

” - a letter from the company you work for, stating the purpose of your visit, duration of stay, and places/firms/organizations to be visited,

” - a letter of invitation from your sponsor (institution or company in India) indicating the nature of the business, duration of stay, and places/firms to be visited.

” - one (1) fully completed Business Information Sheet,

” - one utility bill or government-issued ID proving place of residence.

” - persons needing double or triple entry visas must provide proof of all entries (tickets/itinerary).

” - Invitation Letter from the organizer confirming the Government registration number, location, dates and topic of the conference,

” - Clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs,

” - Administrative clearance from the nodal Ministry,

” - Political clearance for the event from the Ministry of External Affairs,

” - Clearance from the concerned State Government.

” - letter from the employer indicating nature of job, salary structure and duration of hire

” - resume with relevant credential

” - for Teaching jobs: Letter of appointment from the school and no-objection from the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, New Delhi

” - for Pilots: Letter of clearance from Directorate General of civil Aviation (DGCA)

” - Confirming admission of the applicant & duration of course. (If admission is not confirmed, provisional admission letter may also be produced).

” - Evidence of financial arrangements made for maintenance in India.

” - Admission acknowledgement fee receipt from the educational institution.

” - For Student Exchange program: A letter from a recognized educational institution from Canada and India confirming admission of the applicant & duration of course.

” - for a minor applicant, if either of the parent(s) is out of the country: Scanned copy of the online Visa application 2nd page + consent form from the parent along with the original notarized affidavit (Parent giving consent to the person travelling with minor applicant) plus a notarized passport copy from local notary/lawyer.
