RESET MODE
PUMPS OFF
With pumps off, the tool returns to reset position. Even with the ball on seat, the MOCS is designed to allow the drill stem to drain
while tripping pipe.
Once in non-bypass mode with the ball on the seat, the tool routes
flow back to the bit to continue circulation through the entire BHA. Pump pressure forces
the piston valve down, opening the ports to the
annulus and closing off flow through sensitive
BHA components.
RESET MODE
NO DROP BALL
Run in hole position with open through bore.

First 6 1/2” MOCS run in India delivers consistent
performance, cycling 18 times to Bypass mode and helping
cure mud losses in a single run.
India, Q2 2014.
Results:
100% tool functionality downhole.
18 complete tool cycles in one run with one drop ball. The tool was easily operated.
Objective:
To activate the tool and pump several LCM pills in order to cure lost circulation.
Summary:
The MOCS tool was run as part of a 8 ½” directional hole section with viscous water as the drilling fluid. Heavy losses were observed at 52 meters, but the tool was first activated at 110 meters when it came out from the conductor casing and reached the lost circulation zone. While drilling through the fault zone, 90 lb/bbl LCM pills (Quick Seal & CaCo3 flakes) were circulated. The losses were controlled, but the MOCS remained in the BHA with the dropped ball inside to tackle any further losses. Overall, the MOCS was cycled to Bypass mode 18 times (36 valve shifts) until TD was reached. The first activation summary is exhibited in the table below.

The first 8” MOCS run in India delivers an outstanding
performance by cycling 20 times and curing all mud
losses in a single run.
India, Cairn, Q1 2014.
Results:
100% tool functionality downhole.
20 tool cycles in one run with single drop ball.
Eliminated multiple unnecessary trips that were previously unavoidable. Saved at least 7 drilling hours.
Objective:
To activate the tool and pump down several LCM pills in order to cure lost circulation.
Summary:
The MOCS was run in a 12 ¼” hole section with 24.9° inclination and 4.17°/30m DLS. The tool was first activated at a 108m depth when complete losses were observed. A 60 lb/bbl LCM pill (Quick Seal & CaCo3 flakes) was pumped in the initial phase. The concentration was increased to 90 lb/bbl for additional pills until the 285m section TD was reached. The losses were successfully controlled and a total of 20 LCM pills were pumped through the tool. Overall, utilizing the MOCS tool provided cost-effective drilling to the operator.

First 4 ¾” MOCS tool run in Colombia delivers 100%
operational success in drilling operations.
Chacharo 1 well, Llanos, Colombia, Petrobras, Q1 2014.
Objective:Bypass flow to the wellbore annulus as a contingency for possible lost circulation in the 7” section.
Summary:
4¾” MOCS: The tool was run on a motor steerable BHA to drill the 7” hole for possible lost
circulation in the Guadalupe and Mirador formations. At surface point, the MOCS tool was activated into bypass mode to eject flow to the annulus.
Even though no lost circulation material was needed during the drilling operations, the tool successfully completed 2 cycles and was cycled into Non-Bypass mode to continue with drilling operations. Lithologies include sand, shale and sandstone.
Results:
100% tool functionality downhole.
Up to 3 complete tool cycles in one run with a single drop ball. The tools were easily operated.
