Academic Advisor and related issues
Extraordinary circumstances
While you are at university, you may incur study delay through extraordinary circumstances such as family issues, illness, performance disability or other extraordinary circumstances. Study delay must be reported to the academic advisor as soon as possible. This is important for potential financial support from the Graduation Fund (see www.rug.nl/studievertraging) and for your Binding Study Advice. Sometimes the BSA Committee can make an exemption when you do not meet the BSA requirements through extraordinary circumstances.Student Service Centre
The Student Service Centre (SSC) is the student counselling expertise centre of the University of Groningen. Our student counsellors, psychologists and trainers work together to provide an integrated package of student support with the aim of helping students with their studies. We can prevent or remove possible impediments to your study progress so that you can develop fully during your time at university. The SSC has a wide range of support facilities ‐ information and advice, individual discussions, short‐ term therapy and a wide variety of workshops and training courses. You can find more information about the services of the SSC and the courses, training and workshops which are offered to students via www.rug.nl/sscContact academic advisor

The only exception to the one‐month‐registration deadline are the courses of the first period of the first year of the bachelor’s degree programme: these courses are still open for registration in the first week of the academic year. Nevertheless, please register for these courses as soon as possible since you will then have access to the online course information provided by the lecturer. If you register for a course unit, you are to appear at least for the first session of the course unit. ProgRESS WWW does not allow you to register for more than four courses in a period. In case you want to register for more courses in one term, please contact your study advisor. ‐ Registration for written examinations is linked automatically to the registration for course units In case you attend a (re‐)exam you need to be present at the start of the (re‐)exam.
In case you register for a course unit you are automatically registered for the exam. In case you fail the exam you are automatically registered for the resit. Despite the automatic exam registration the student remains responsible for being properly registered for (re‐)exams. There is an opportunity to sign out until at least 1 week before the date of the examination. It is possible to register separately for an exam or re‐exam, i.e. without registering for the course. ProgRESSWWW does not allow you to register for more than five exams in a term (this only holds for exams of courses which are offered in a term of 8‐10 weeks). In case you want to register for more courses in a term please contact your study advisor.
