Capital Campaign Update

Regarding financing, we are pleased to report that we have been offered a new, single loan at a lower interest rate and better terms than we had with our original loan used to construct the Sanctuary and Covenant Hall. The result is a very minimal (or, possi-bly, no) increase in our current monthly loan payment. Many thanks to the Funding Committee for their diligent work gathering the needed information and getting competitive bids! A new appraisal will be required by the bank which will take ap-proximately 30 days to complete.

Once the appraisal has been completed and we have the bank loan approval, final architectural and site plans that are currently underway will be completed. Columbia County must approve both site and building plans. This will take another 30 days.

Our goal is to break ground on the new building by June 1 and complete construc-tion by the end of December.

As was reported in the recent informational meeting, material prices have driven up building costs significantly over the last year. This has led the officers of the church to decide that we will construct a one-story building in the same footprint as the two-story building. This will give us approximately 7,000 square feet of Sunday school and administration space. The “L” design allows us to move most of the administra-tive staff to the new building so that the current administration building can be dedi-cated to meeting space for our Youth Ministry and additional storage.

It is an exciting time in the history of our church as we look forward to being part of God’s incredible work in our midst. Take encouragement from Charles Spurgeon on generously giving of our all to the Creator of the universe:

“In all of my years of service to my Lord, I have discovered a truth that has

never failed and has never been compromised. That truth is that it is beyond the realm of possibilities that one has the ability to out give God. Even if I give the whole of my worth to Him, He will find a way to give back to me much more than I gave.”

May our duty in giving turn ever increasingly to a delight as we glorify and enjoy our Lord!

Missions Matters

Pastor Robbie gave us this challenge and exhortation as to what we should be doing in fulfilling the Gospel mandate of “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,”

“...standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, and not frightened in anything by your opponents.”

Philippians 1:27b—28a

This passage in Philippians is one of many throughout scripture that is a call to profess the gospel of Christ. As citizens of heaven (Phil. 3:20), we must not only stand firm on the truth, we must also strive to advance it. Striving side by side for the faith of the gospel comes in many forms:

1. Teaching — Ezekiel 44:23—They shall teach my people the difference between the holy and the common, and show them how to distinguish between the unclean and the clean.

2. Training — Prov. 22:6—Train up a child in the way he should go; even when his is old he will not depart from it. 3. Giving — Prov. 3:9—Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce;

4. Going — Mt. 28:19—“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

5. Praying — Mt. 9:37b-38—“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

Remember the Lord of the Harvest said, “All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me……And behold, I am with you

always, to the end of the age.” Therefore, we can be, as Paul writes in Philippians 1:28 “not frightened in anything by your opponents. This is a clear sign to them of their destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God.” May we follow this

leadership of striving to advance the gospel by our faith in the Lord and our proclamation of the gospel of grace.
