to the surrounding neighborhood

Calumet experience will guide you on

a path to lifelong success.

But don’t take our word for it.

Consider Taylor Allen, a 2012 graduate of our College of Technology. Taylor was presenting his senior project during the 2012 Technology Day, an event that demonstrates students’ research and academic opportunities. One of the professionals in attendance that day happened to be David A. Roberts, a 1974 alum and chairman, president and CEO of Carlisle Companies Inc., a global diversified company based in Charlotte, N.C.

Dave was particularly impressed by Taylor’s ingenuity and knowledge – so much so, that Taylor landed a job as an operations engineer with the Brake & Friction division at Carlisle. He is part of the company’s pilot management training program. Taylor chose Purdue Calumet because of our close proximity to many opportunities for internships, one-on-one access to professors and labs, and the open atmosphere among students and faculty. “That was important to me, because I’ve always been a hands-on person,” Taylor said. “I wanted to work directly with people and equipment in a manufacturing environment; I didn’t want to just sit behind a desk. I had a great experience at Purdue Calumet. Coming here was one of the best decisions I could have made.”
