BIOGRAPHY
Davide Balliano was born in Turin, Italy in 1983, he lives and works in New York. In this city he began his studies and earned a Bachelor in Graphic Arts.
In 2002 he moved to Milan where he earned a second degree in Photography at the c.f.p Ric-cardo Bauer, and worked as artist. From June 2004 to June 2005, Balliano was a resident in Fabrica, atist’s residence of Benetton group. Through an unemotional and minimal use of different media (drawing, painting, sculpture and performance) his artistic research allows him to delve deeply into the most hidden aspects of the human mind, revealing their fragile structures and contradictions. Balliano’s works were shown in public spaces and institutions such as The Artists Space, Location One, and MoMA PS1 in New York, The Watermill Center in South Hampton, the Plymouth Art Center in Great Britain, Madre Museum in Naples, MART Museum in Rovereto, and in private galleries such as Rolando Anselmi in Berlin, Marc De Peuchredon in Basel and Zurich, Michel Rein Gallery in Paris, Sean Kelly Gallery and Room East in New York. His portfolio has been exhibited as part of the Archive of Via Farini in the context of “NO SOULS FOR SALE” at the Tate Modern Gallery in London. He’s one of the winners of the AOL 25 for 25 Award 2010; he’s been also appointed as one of the 2012 Kempinski Art Programme fellows. He won the ICONA Price in 2013 with his work “Dying Warriors” that was presented at the MART Museum in Rovereto, which has acquired its ownership.
