INTRODUCTORY RITE

Commentator: There is a moment in each of our lives when life gains a richer meaning because it is shared. This morning/afternoon, we have come to celebrate the beginning of a new life together for ______ and ______. In this joyous Feast of Love, let us, as witnesses and as a community in Christ, lift ______ and ______ to the Lord, through the most Blessed Mother, and pray that Christ may bestow on them His grace as they start their new life together as husband and wife.

GREETING

Priest: In the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

All: Amen.

Priest: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

All: And with your spirit.

Priest: Dearly beloved ______ and ______, God is love and has in some mysterious way, drawn you together in love. But He leaves you free to make that love grow or let it wither and die. The Lord will help you forge a future for your love, if you do share, when you stand to the commitment to love and honor one another in good times and in bad, in poverty and in plenty, in sickness and in health, for better and for worse, in that covenant which you are about to seal.

Priest : Let us pray; Father, you have made the bond of marriage a Holy mystery, a symbol of Christ’s love for His church. Hear our prayers for ______ and ______. With faith in you and in each other, they pledge their love today. May their lives always bear witness to the reality of that love. We ask this through Christ our Lord, who lives, and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever.

All: Amen.

Commentator: Please all be seated. LITURGY OF THE WORD

READING I

Lector: A reading from the book of Sirach

Happy the husband of a good wife twice-lengthened are his days; a worthy wife brings joy to her husband, peaceful and full is his life. A good wife is a generous gift bestowed upon him who fears the Lord; be he rich or poor, his heart is content, and a smile is ever on his face. A gracious wife delights her husband, her thoughtfulness puts flesh on his bones; a gift from the Lord is her governed speech, and her firm virtue is of surpassing worth. Choicest of blessings is a modest wife, priceless her chaste person. Like the sun rising in the Lord's heavens, the beauty of a virtuous wife is the radiance of her home.

The word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God. RESPONSORIAL PSALM (Ps. 103:1-2, 8, 13, 17-18)

All: The Lord is kind and merciful Lector: Bless the Lord, O my soul;

and all my being, bless his holy name.

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.(R) All: The Lord is kind and merciful.

Merciful and gracious is the Lord,

slow to anger and abounding in kindness. As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him (R)

All: The Lord is kind and merciful.

Lector: But the kindness of the Lord is from eternity to eternity toward those who fear him, And his justice toward children's children among those who keep his covenant (R) All: The Lord is kind and merciful. Commentator: Please stand to honor the Holy Gospel.

All: Alleluia, alleluia.

If we love one another

(4)

All: Alleluia, alleluia GOSPEL

Priest: The Lord be with you. All : And with your spirit.

Priest : A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John.

All : Glory to You, O Lord. Priest : Jesus said to his disciples:

"This is my commandment: love one another as I have loved you. There is no greater love than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. I no longer speak of you as slaves, for a slave does not know what his master is about. Instead, I call you friends, since I have made known to you all that I heard from my Father. It was not you who chose me, it was I who chose you to go forth and bear fruit. Your fruit must endure, so that all you ask the Father in my name he will give you."

The Gospel of the Lord.

All : Praise to You, O Lord Jesus Christ. Commentator: Please be seated for the homily.

PREPARATION OF THE ALTAR AND THE GIFTS

Priest: Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,

for through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you: fruit of the earth and work of human hands, it will become for us the bread of life.

All: Blessed be God forever.

Priest: By the mystery of this water and wine, we

come to share in the divinity of Christ, who humbled Himself to share in our humanity.

Priest: Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for

through your goodness we have received the wine we offer you: fruit of the vine and work of human hands, it will become our spiritual drink.

All: Blessed be God forever.

Priest : Pray brethren that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, the almighty Father.

All: May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name for our good and the good of all his holy Church.

PRAYER OVER THE GIFTS Commentator: Please stand.

Priest : Father, accept this offering from your whole family and from _______ and _______. By your love and providence you have brought them to their wedding day: grant them (the gift and joy of children and) a long and happy life together. [Through Christ our Lord. Amen.]

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER

Priest : The Lord be with you. All : And with your spirit.

(10)

Priest : Lift up your hearts.

All : We lift them up to the Lord.

Priest : Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. All : It is right and just.

PREFACE

Priest : It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God. For you have forged the covenant of marriage as a sweet yoke of harmony and an unbreakable bond of peace, so that the chaste and fruitful love of holy Matrimony may serve to increase the children you adopt as your own. By your providence and grace, O Lord, you accomplish the wonder of this twofold design: that, while the birth of children brings beauty to the world, their rebirth in Baptism gives increase to the Church, through Christ our Lord. Through him, with the Angels and all the Saints, we sing the hymn of your praise, as without end we acclaim:

All: Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Commentator: Please all kneel.

Priest : You are indeed Holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness. Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall, so that they may become for us the Body and + Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his Passion, he took bread and, giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying:

TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT, FOR THIS IS MY BODY, WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.

(He shows the consecrated host to the people, places it again on the paten, and genuflects in adoration)

After this, he continues:

(11)

he took the chalice and, once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying:

TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT, FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY

BLOOD, THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND ETERNAL COVENANT, WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT FOR YOU AND FOR MANY FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS. DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.

(He shows the chalice to the people, places it on the corporal, and genuflects in adoration). Commentator: Please all rise.

Priest: The mystery of faith.

All : We proclaim your death, O Lord, and profess your resurrection, until you come again. Priest : Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his

Death and Resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the Bread of life and the Chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you.

Humbly we pray that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by

the Holy Spirit.

Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world,

and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with Francis our Pope

and Luis Antonio, our Bishop, [and his assistant Bishops] and all the clergy.

(For the celebration of Marriage, the following is added):

Be mindful also, Lord, of _____ and ______ whom you have brought to their wedding day, so that by your grace they may abide in mutual love and in peace.

Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy: welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with blessed Joseph, her Spouse with the blessed Apostles, and all the Saints who have pleased you throughout the ages,

we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you

(12)

(He takes the chalice and the paten with the host and, raising both, he says)

Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, almighty Father,

in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours, for ever and ever.

All: Amen!

Priest : At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say

All : Our Father. . . (Recited only)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil. NUPTIAL BLESSING

Priest : Let us humbly invoke by our prayers, dear brothers and sisters, God’s blessing upon this bride and groom, that in his kindness he may favor with his help those on whom he has bestowed the Sacrament of Matrimony.

Holy Father, maker of the whole world, who created man and woman in your own image and willed that their union be crowned with you blessing, we humbly beseech you for these your servants, who are joined today in the Sacrament of Matrimony.

May your abundant blessing, Lord, come down upon this bride, ______., and upon ________., her companion for life, and may the power of your Holy Spirit set their hearts aflame from on high, so that, living out together the gift of Matrimony, they may (adorn their family with children and) enrich the Church.

In happiness may they praise you, O Lord, in sorrow may they seek you out; may they have the joy of your presence to assist them in their toil, and know that you are near to comfort them in their need; let them pray to you in the holy assembly and bear witness to

(13)

you in the world, and after a happy old age, together with the circle of friends that surrounds them, may they come to the Kingdom of Heaven. Through Christ our Lord.

All : Amen.

Priest: The peace of the Lord be always with you.

All: And with your spirit.

Priest : Let us now offer each other the sign of peace.

LAMB OF GOD

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.

Commentator: Please kneel.

Priest : This is Jesus who unites husbands and wives together. This is Jesus who has brought us

together to witness the exchange of vows between

_______ and _______. This is Jesus who will guide

and help _______ and _______ all the days of their married life. Happy are we who are called to His supper.

All : Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

COMMUNION

REMOVAL OF CORD & VEIL PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION Commentator: Please all stand.

Priest: Let us pray: Lord, in Your love you have given us this Eucharist to unite us with one another and with you. As you have made ______ and ______one
