1992 - Present Adjunct Professor, School of Education,

UW-Platteville. Design and teach courses: Human Growth and Development; Oral Language and Emergent Literacy -- Methods in Early Childhood Education; Foundations of American Education -- Senior Seminar; Foundation of Early Childhood Education; Guidance, Assessment and Instruction in Early Childhood; Pre Student Teaching. Supervise student teacher practica on-site in preschool programs, Kindergarten and primary classrooms in southwest Wisconsin. Advise students majoring in elementary education and early

childhood. Participate in faculty planning groups and activities, including the Child Care Committee, Long Range Planning Committee, Portfolio Assessment Committee and various course reorganization efforts. Planned faculty in-services concerning the

education of “at risk” students. Plan in- service training for cooperating teachers working with pre-student teachers.

1988 - 1994 Instructor, Madison Area Technical College. Designed and taught sections of a two semester

course in Child Development: Infancy, Early Childhood, and School Age Development. Gave

lectures and led discussions. Developed and graded written assignments, exams and other course

materials which evaluated child care teachers' knowledge of basic human development concepts and their application in a practical day care setting. Counseled individual students.

1988 - 1989 Parent Educator, Family Enhancement Program. Facilitated weekly programs for parents on Madison's south side which were designed to strengthen their parenting skills and build mutual support networks. Groups generally consisted of 6-12 parents in

evening and daytime sessions. Developed topics for discussion and facilitated sessions. Taught parent education courses. Facilitated weekly fathers' support group.

1985 - 1988 Assistant Director, Community Coordinated Child Care (4-C) of Dane County. 4-C is a private, non-profit United Way Agency that helps parents locate child care, helps day care providers through

training and technical assistance and provides the community with public policy and planning

information and assistance. At 4-C my duties

included major responsibility for the preparation of surveys and planning documents, writing and editing a monthly newsletter on community activities and information for family day care providers and a wide range of technical assistance functions to both day care centers and family day care homes. I staffed the fundraising committee of the 4-C Board and

assisted the executive director in the drafting and preparation of grant applications. I also managed a Job Training and Partnership Act (JTPA) project that trained low income individuals to become family day care providers and a Venture Grant program that provided day care funding to low income families involved in training programs and seeking

employment.

1983 - 1985 Administrative Assistant, Wisconsin Department of Health and Social Services, Madison.

Participated in the planning and implementation of a statewide network of over 750 volunteers and 54

social service coordinating agencies that distributed two million pounds of surplus

commodities to the needy each month. Oversaw all financial and inventory records, monitored agency contracts, coordinated monthly deliveries, handled correspondence, etc.

fairness ("distributive justice"). Investigated appropriate funding sources and helped prepare a grant application. Analyzed data and wrote up all findings for publication. Presented paper at

1977 - 1978 Prepared multi-media educational materials (videotapes and student materials) for use in

undergraduate courses in Human Development taught by the Educational Psychology Department, University of Wisconsin-Madison.

1975 - 1976 Teaching Assistant, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Taught and graded study sections in Introductory Child Development.

1972 - 1975 Research Assistant, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Conducted field research in attentional factors in children's learning and children's

knowledge about their memory abilities. Conducted statistical analysis of data and prepared all

materials for publication.

1971 and 1972 Teacher in elementary education and counselor at Timbertop Camp, a summer program for children and adolescents with special learning and behavior
