We are confident that this collaboration between the Neurosciences and the Psycho -therapies will give rise to innovative ideas and opinions and reveal ways to utilize our inner strengths, especially at this time when accepted ‘values’ are in question worldwide. We hope that by sharing our knowledge, time and energy we will be able to lay the foundations for a new beginning and a more optimistic approach to the future.

We look forward to your participation and your suggestions on how to make this conference a starting point for future collaborations of a similar nature.

For the Organizing Committee The Coordinators

Educator, Dramatherapist Sociologist, Playtherapist

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

As part of its broader activities, aimed at fostering and sharing knowledge, the Greek Institute of Play Therapy and Dramatherapy ‘Athyrma’, in collaboration with the Hellenic Professional Association of Dramatherapists and Playtherapists is organizing a conference entitled ‘Early attachment and personality development. Bridging Psychotherapy and Neuroscience’ from 23-25 November 2012.

The aim of this conference is to encourage an inter-disciplinary association that will promote an on-going sharing of knowledge and experience between psychothera -pists, psychiatrists, neurologists and neuro-physicists in order to extend areas of information and research on a theme that plays a key role in cognitive, emotional, social and intellectual development.

In recent years a collective effort has been made to establish a ‘secure base’ by which to nurture creative potential and modes of expression and communication. Recent studies and research on the theme of attachment theory in the field of the neurosciences can provide invaluable insights for those working in the areas of psychotherapy and psychiatry. The conference aims to bring together the neurosci-ences and psychotherapies through their approach to the attachment theory, which we believe will be extremely valuable for those involved in the caring and mental health professions.
