RapidPrint is a software system

that enables rapid access to

study program materials for

immediate point-of-sale printing

and collection, or for consecutive

online distribution of the same

materials to students.

Students can quickly and easily review, select, and print

specifi c study materials as they wish, compile them into a print

job, and review as they need.

Administrators and academic staff can easily add study

documents, lecture notes, book chapters, and other copyright

materials as needed.

These items can be auto-deleted or made accessible at certain

specifi ed times (such as start or end of semester) and are easily

managed by authorised staff.

The system is modular in nature and enables fl exible

implementation to suit various technical or administrative

requirements that your institution may have.

RapidPrint

RapidPrint offers the choice of two specifi c interfaces connected to the same data source:

>

EReserve

(Electronic reserve system for fi le and material distribution)

>

RapidPrint

(Immediate Printing) to suit different student or administrative needs. RapidPrint allows selection and compilation of materials into one print job for immediate printing, while EReserve allows students themselves to view and download the actual PDF fi le.

Features

When using RapidPrint students can:

Search and drill down for study and unit resources by faculty/school/cost centre Search by unit or course and see all materials currently available for that unit, course, or program

Add items (study resources) to their order and view the items in their print order, with the total cost displayed

Search for items and, with one click, easily add all displayed items to order

Be automatically logged out from their student account after inactivity—to prevent accidental or deliberate tampering with student orders.

If an item is already in an order, the system won’t allow the accidental purchase of duplicates

RapidPrint jobs are kept in the queue if unpaid and not released to the printers for 72 hours, at which time they will automatically expire.

Additionally,

Copyright Compliance

RapidPrint can help your institution increase the likelihood of full copyright compliance. The system has procedures built in to ensure copyright audit compliance from the moment materials are entered into it. In case of an ISBN/ISSN confl ict, RapidPrint shows up the confl icting resources so that administrators may choose the resource/s they would like to make active. Each time a resource is viewed the correct copyright notice is displayed, and even if a student bookmarks the resource it is redisplayed with a link to item. RapidPrint allows Copyright Auditor Reports— for the easy management of document reports and compliance during copyright audit periods.

Extensive Reports

In addition to copyright reports, RapidPrint enables administrators to review and specify document availability over time—such as semester-specifi c— or reconfi gure settings to suit copyright or other needs. RapidPrint reports detail the most/least viewed, printed, and accessed materials to enable more effi cient management of study resources and to improve effectiveness of learning strategies.

The reports also show authorised administrators the total savings resulting from the use of RapidPrint, and assist with internal audit and review processes. Custom reports can easily be added as required.

Point-of-sale options

Depending on how your institution prefers to do things, RapidPrint can integrate with secure payment systems, cash-based POS systems, and swipe-card facilities. Operators can release a print job if taking payment manually, or the system can integrate with existing card services in use at your institution to ensure ease of use, minimal change and disruption, and the automatic release of jobs once payment is received—without any human operator involvement.

Immediate cost savings

Implementation of a RapidPrint system immediately starts saving your institution money and resources. Students print only the resources and materials that they want, when they want, thus preventing the excessive printing of redundant or unwanted materials. The costs of printing, shipping, returning unwanted copies, and poor copyright compliance are all avoided when using RapidPrint. All study materials, assets, and resources inserted into the RapidPrint system are easily managed and reviewed by staff to ensure that latest and most up-to-date or copyright-compliant materials are available to students.

Low cost of entry

RapidPrint has a low cost of entry basic licence fee, and additional requirements or features can quickly be customised to suit your specifi c needs. We provide full user documentation and 12 months’ phone support for your staff as part of the implementation process.

Security and Experience

For your peace of mind, NTech Media offers:

>

An escrow service where, under certain

circumstances, your organisation can have full access to the source code of the project in order to minimise your risk

>

$10,000,000 worth of insurance covering IT/

Technical services, professional indemnity, and public liability

>

12 months phone support.

Easy to manage

RapidPrint has a workfl ow process for document and material submission that enables academic or other staff to submit materials, but with materials only being made active after sign-off from an authorised administrator.

Administrative Staff

>

Are notifi ed of incoming materials; by approving the submitted resource they automatically create items in EReserve (and RapidPrint).

>

Can request modifi cations to — and reject— submissions.

>

Can manage approved materials—pending, active, and expired documents; automation can be set for availability as needed or specifi ed.

>

Can enter an item and right away have it appear

in the system.

>

Can search items based on an input fi eld— to show all items with that characteristic.
