2007-2008 Practicum: Behavior Analysis (Paid)

Site: Kalamazoo County Community Mental Health

Population: Adults with cognitive and/or developmental disabilities

Duties: Conducted functional assessments, designed behavior plans, trained key staff in behavior plan implementation, and continual data collection. Worked with interdisciplinary treatment teams consisting of supports coordinators, nurses, occupational therapists, and caregivers to design optimal treatment plans for high-risk individuals in Kalamazoo County.

2005-2007 Practicum: Behavior Analysis

Population: Older adults with cognitive and/or developmental disabilities

Duties: Conducted functional assessments, designed behavior plans, trained staff and undergraduate practicum students in behavior plan implementation, oversaw undergraduate practicum students and advanced practicum students, collected data, and administered assessments.

Site: Brandon Woods Nursing Home

Population: Older adults with dementia

Duties: Practical experience working with older adults in nursing home settings

2002 Practicum: Older Dementia and DD Populations

Site: Alliance Senior Day Service: multi-disciplinary adult day program

Population: Dementia, physically frail older adults with dementia, and aging adults with developmental disabilities

Duties: Providing one on one attention and implementing behavior plans with individuals whose special needs require more intervention, as well as experience in data collection, administration of psychological instruments, and collection/calculation of IOA. In addition, students design a group project that they implement.

2002 Practicum: Special Populations

Site: Croyden Avenue School

Population: Autistic impaired and developmentally disabled students

Duties: Discrete trial-training with autistic impaired individuals, ages 2-6 years. Trials included the use of positive reinforcement to increase appropriate behavior (including ADLs), PECS for non-verbal clients, reinforcer assessments each week, as well as penalty (time-out from attention) and extinction for inappropriate behaviors. In addition to discrete trials, duties included the delivery of non-contingent social reinforcement every 30 seconds during each two-hour session.
