Most of outdoor LCD systems are at best offering limited performance and fail to deliver promised. Systems below are characterized as operational outdoor LCD systems with IP 65 enclosure and integrated high brightness LCD panel. As you can see these systems are incapable of sustaining good enough inner environment for images to appear visible in high ambient light.

It all starts with operation requirements of integrated electronics. These systems have to cope 24/7/365 with the worst of outdoor environment effects. Full-outdoor units are exposed also to powerful effect of solar radiation (UV, visible light and IR), which presents main difference to semi-outdoor units. Solar radiation is so potent it can raise temperature within enclosure far above ambient air temperature.

If we need to find one single biggest problem of outdoor LCD systems operation it will be heat generated by three factors: ambient air temperature, integrated high brightness LCD and electronics, and solar radiation.These systems are heavily influenced by powerful heat generators arising from ambient air, high brightness panels and huge solar load. For long life this problem needs to be managed as good as possible.
