The degree in Forensic Studies is aimed at students wishing to pursue a career in forensic laboratory science. The role of a forensic scientist is to present objective evidence and opinions that will assist the court with their deliberation process. With this emphasis in mind, the degree structure incorporates a strong foundation in the biological and chemical sciences in conjunction with the study of forensics. The forensic subjects delivered throughout the program provide you with the necessary skills required to apply scientific principles and techniques in the investigation of criminal acts. Forensic scientists are often among the first at disaster scenes and Australian practitioners have been involved in resolving human tragedies such as the Victorian bushfires in 2009, the Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004 and the Bali bombings in 2002 and 2005.
Program emphasis is on the laboratory-based fields of forensic biology and forensic chemistry, and covers areas such as the collection and examination of trace evidence, forensic evidence and the law, toxicology, forensic statistics, specialised chemical/biological analysis, and the interpretation and reporting of analytical results.

This program is offered to school leavers and those with no previous tertiary qualifications to prepare them for a professional career in the justice sector. The justice sector is evolving rapidly to meet the changing environmental, economic, social and cultural demands facing society. This program is also an ideal professional development program for people already employed in the justice sector who wish to advance their careers and extend their capabilities and opportunities. Graduates of the Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Justice Studies may continue their pathway into higher education with this degree, and will receive 12-18 months credit.
The qualification will provide you with the theoretical and practical basis you need to work as an effective change agent across the broad range of justice sector agencies dealing with issues in both government and non-government organisations. This innovative and contemporary nursing program focuses on professional nursing practice and theory, and is underpinned by a philosophy of person centred and holistic care.
You are prepared for practice through a combination of on campus theory and the latest simulation activities, as well as supported clinical practice in a variety of health care settings. Gain exposure to nursing practice early within the program, and become familiar with the range of clinical placements offered reflecting the diverse roles of nursing today.
Prior to undertaking clinical placement you must be prepared to declare your health and immunisation status, complete a National Police Records Check annually and hold a valid Working with Children Check. EDUCATION
The Bachelor of Early Childhood Education is an innovative and contemporary teaching degree that prepares you for a rewarding teaching career. As a Holmesglen graduate you will be qualified to become an early childhood teacher and be eligible to register with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) as a primary school teacher, specialising in the teaching and learning of children from birth to eight years. The degree program is organised into four major streams of study: The Child in Focus; Curriculum, Pedagogy and Learning; Professional Practice; and Practicum (placement in schools and classrooms). Holmesglen places a strong emphasis on the practical application of theory.
Practicum is embedded in all eight semesters of the Bachelor, with placements in every setting for which you will be qualified to teach, including pre-school and primary school. These are organised and supervised by dedicated Holmesglen staff who mentor and support you throughout the program. Our unique degree program prepares you for the challenges and rewards of a professional early childhood teacher. This degree is delivered full time and flexible/part time. Graduates of the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent may complete the full time program in three years, or the part time program in four years.

The Bachelor of Landscape Design prepares you with the skills and knowledge increasingly expected by the landscape design industry for a career into the 21st century. You will have a thorough foundation in the traditional disciplines underpinning the landscape architecture profession.
The program enables you to integrate both the theoretical and technical knowledge from various fields including landscape design, horticulture and plant technology, digital modelling, landscape engineering, communication technology and sustainability. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
The Bachelor of Information Technology is a generalist qualification that encompasses the basics of both network engineering and software development. Throughout the program, you will gain extensive experience in developing information and communications technology to address the needs of modern organisations. Teamwork, project management and communication skills are developed in addition to exploration of the technical aspects of information technology and its use.
The information technology units covered included: basic programming constructs and modern programming environments, networking engineering principles, wireless networking protocols, and network security, enterprise web, cloud and mobile technologies, and quality management.
Final year students will complete a team project, producing and implementing a substantial network or software-based system to address current and emerging needs of local business, government and community organisations.

The Bachelor of Sports Management provides you with the knowledge and skills needed to become a competent sports manager. This degree (established in 1981) was the first of its kind in Australia and has since become the leader in the field of professional sports management education.

The hospitality industry is one of Australia’s biggest and most dynamic workforces. If you thrive on change and are quick on your feet, then this is the industry for you! As a hotel, cruise ship or restaurant manager (to name just a few career choices available to graduates), no two days are likely to be the same. To equip you for this complex and fast paced career you will need a combination of theoretical knowledge taught by our experienced lecturers and practical skills. These will be developed through classes held in our onsite restaurants and a 24 week placement with one of the many world class establishments we have connections with.
Through practical application of theory and concepts you will develop a broad based understanding of hospitality and management, while placements give you a chance to wow your potential future employers.

A non-refundable student services and amenities fee applies to all domestic higher education students. The fee is charged at the time of enrolment and students have the option of paying up-front or, depending on eligibility, deferring payment through a SA-HELP loan.

Payment Plan is available to assist with fee payment. Contact the staff in the Information Office for details of eligibility. There is an establishment fee of $50.00 to set up the Payment Plan and an ongoing transaction fee is deducted for the length of the Plan from your nominated account.
• FEE-HELP
FEE-HELP is an income contingent loan scheme available to eligible full fee paying students that assists with the payment of part or all of their student contribution. Repayment of the loan is through the Australian taxation system once the income goes above the designated threshold. Voluntary repayments may be made at any time, regardless of income.
