COMPANY
PROFILE
Who are we?
Applied Energy are independent, innovative and informed
mechanical, electrical and public health services consultants who
specialise in providing energy efficient and cost effective solutions
to meet the needs of a wide range of corporate, public sector and
private clients.
Applied Energy has built up a team of individual experts across the
complete range of building services sectors and is able to provide
consultancy, design, management and commissioning of MEP
project services.
It is our view that the projects below demonstrate Applied Energy's
commitment to working with the industry to develop products to
deliver energy efficiency and consequently environmental
improvements. A team spirit has helped to harness the various
different technologies required in order that our clients can reap the
benefits. This has resulted in a first class total solutions service to
our clients, meeting head on the challenge laid down from the
environmentalists and the Government to achieve greater emission
reductions.
One of the key fears of consultants is the risk of failure when
considering taking a pioneering approach to a client's brief. This is
probably one of the key factors in the slow uptake of innovative
products and services. People like the comfort factor of tried and
tested 'conventional' solutions. Applied Energy have clearly
demonstrated that we have faced up to the challenges and risks
associated with innovative solutions and in doing so have tapped
the knowledge and expertise of our industry manufacturers,
suppliers and installers to deliver solutions today that will stand our
clients in good stead for the future.
What We Do
Building Services Design
Applied Energy is able to provide a comprehensive suite of solutions to meet all clients’ needs throughout the project lifecycle covering mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) services. Applied Energy can undertake surveys and reporting duties on the existing facilities of a building, either legacy or those that have just been installed. Applied Energy has considerable experience in negotiating complex planning matters and can provide energy strategy reports as required by the planners using data from building modelling tools. They can design air conditioning, general ventilation, heating, electrical and lighting systems with expertise on communication/data systems, building management, commissioning, and documentation review.Planned Maintenance Support
Applied Energy has also helpedcompanies implement simple but highly effective maintenance processes and procedures to help improve plant lifetimes, reduce callout costs and ensure that their plant and staff remain as efficient as possible.
Energy Management Support
Applied Energy provide monthly energy management support to a number of hotel operators dealing with a wide variety of factors, such as energy benchmarking using sophisticated software models, targeting and forecasting future consumption patterns.Swimming Pool Engineering
Applied Energy has helped design and improve numerous swimming pool facilities for private individuals, hotels and leisure centres. By implementing feasibility studies and safety assessments including assessments of swimming pool energy efficiency, system design, drainage, filtration/sanitisation and heat recovery systems, Applied Energy is able to make the running of a swimming pool more cost effective and reducemaintenance needs. They can also help to improve lighting, ventilation and heating in problem facilities.
Energy Efficiency Engineering
Where Applied Energy excels is inbringing energy efficiency to general mechanical, electrical and plumbing services and examples of some previous projects are detailed in this document. Through surveys, monitoring and more commonly in recent year through the use of automated building management systems, Applied Energy is able to trouble shoot and correct all manner of efficiency issues in existing and new systems.
High End Residential
Applied Energy has been involved with high end residential developments since its inception. Such developments require creative thinking combined with value engineering to enable the “wow” factor to be built in and the development yield to be maximised. This often requires complex navigation through all the technical wizardry involved with highly specified modern homes.
Relocation Assistance
Business relocations are an important aspect of modern growing and developing businesses. Relocations require an intensive mix of support services to ensure that move is carried effectively with the minimum of down time and cost effectively.Applied Energy brings relevant experience to the relocation team typically providing:
• Air Conditioning Assessments
• Space Planning Support
• Work Place Wire Management Schemes
• Pre Occupation Inspections
• Post Occupancy Surveys
• Lighting Re-Configurations
Dispute Resolution Duties
With the ever-increasing safety related legislation coming in to affect and the consequent demands being placed on litigants, the requirement for well informed and effective expert witness of disputes has never been so great. The increase in “Alternative DisputeResolutions” requires the early gathering of the facts to curtail continuing litigation and ensure that an appropriate deal can be struck at minimum cost. Applied Energy have the requisite expertise to provide legal professionals with technical support services.
What We Do
Modelling, Visualisation &
Simulation
Applied Energy can provide building Modelling, Visualisation and Simulation using state of the art software tools. Using advanced modelling techniques enables us to understand how architectural proposals will perform environmentally, provide pleasant conditions for its occupants and to predict its likely energy consumption. Whilst the use of software packages are now essential in determining optimum design solutions, there is still no substitute for design experience in knowing how to apply best practice.
Carbon Management
There is a significant and ever increasing amount of regulatory compliance actions that building owners and operators are required to carry out. Applied Energy employ trained and accredited specialists to carry out such compliance actions. The ever increasing pressure to implement carbon reduction programmes requires the use of experienced personnel to ensure that the right solutions are identified.
Renewable Technologies
With the recent explosion in the requirement for renewable energy solutions to provide varying percentage reductions in CO2 or Energy by local authorities, Applied Energy have developed sophisticated tools to enable the most appropriate system selection for the specific site.We are able to provide these
recommendations in terms of written reports suitable for submission to local planning bodies including the Greater London Authority.

By understanding system design, running profiles, current contracts and utility data, Applied Energy are able to carry out cost modelling for various scenarios in order to establish the most viable andeffective means for the CHP to operate. Applied Energy’s goal is to provide clients with the greatest cost savings possible whilst achieving good quality CHP.
How We Do It
Applied Energy's mission is to provide cost effective, proactive,
environmentally friendly, energy efficient engineering design
solutions for diverse applications across the Building Services
Industry.
Such an objective requires Applied Energy to take a proactive stance
towards initial brainstorming and conceptual design, followed
through by detailed specification and supported thereafter by
careful monitoring and evaluation.
Applied Energy is committed to identifying and delivering energy
efficiency in the overall quest for general emission reduction leading
towards sustainability.
Applied Energy is committed to working with manufacturers and
suppliers to develop products to deliver energy efficiency and

The above approach is intended to achieve a first class total
solutions service to our clients, meeting head on the challenge laid
down by Government under new regulations to obtain.
Why Use Applied Energy?
Applied Energy strives to provide its clients with a bespoke solution
tailored to their specific needs rather than selling any particular
proprietary systems or products.
We always endeavour to seek out the most appropriate design
solution, rather than immediately employing “conventional”
solutions for every design brief. Whilst this may mean that we do
adopt tried and tested solutions in many cases, if there is a more
innovative approach that will yield better returns in the future we
endeavour to identify such proposals for client consideration.
We provide a proactive service to our client's design teams with a
“Can Do” approach and have a proven track record of innovation.
