1. Milling & Mashing Malted grain is gently crushed and added with hot water to a mash tun. This breaks down the starch into sugars.

2. Lautering

The mash is pumped into the lauter tun, where a sweet liquid (known as wort) is separated from the grain husks.

3. Boiling

The wort is is then boiled in the brew kettle. Hops are added to contribute additional flavours and aromas.

4. Seperation & Cooling The wort is transferred into a whirlpool for the wort separation stage. Any malt or hop particles are removed.

5. Fermenting Yeast is added, which

consumes the sugars in the wort producing alcohol, flavours and carbon dioxide.

6. Maturing The fermented beer is

transferred to the maturing tanks where it settles and any sediments drop to the bottom.

7. Filtering

The beer is filtered in order to remove all solid particles, then carbonated before being packaged.

8. Packaging

The beer is packaged in bottles, cans and kegs for shipping. It is then ready to be poured, savoured and enjoyed.

Production

Beer is made from four ingredients: malted grain, water, hops and yeast. The idea is to extract the sugars from grains so that the yeast can turn into alcohol and CO2, creating beer.

Altering the ingredients during the brewing process even slightly, can have a dramatic impact to the overall flavour and style.

From the IPA’s that were created to travel the seas to British colonies, to the porters enjoyed by 19th century transportation workers of London, it’s clear that England has a diverse history of beer production. This has continued to modern day with a huge choice of styles from brewers all over the country highlighted in our Boutique Beers range.

Product Range // England A fine ale with big, bold, citrus,

pine hop flavours and subtle toffee malt notes. Robust, smooth and full-bodied on the palate. The recipe for Crystal Rye IPA was created by Adnams brewer (and certified hop freak).

Belinda, who was excited to be able to let her passion for American craft beers shine through in this flavoursome brew.

This pale blonde has bags of bold mango, peach, lemon and pine flavours with a dry hoppy finish. Big & fruity - it’s a one-hop-wonder! US Mosaic hops are bred from Simcoe and Nugget hops, taking the best of these varieties to provide clean bitterness and outstanding flavours and aromas. Mosaic are similar to Citra, only they impart more intense flavours.

Golden in colour and light on the palate with tropical fruits, citrus and passion fruit hop flavours from dry hopping.

This is the first lager that has ever been brewed at Adnams. They didn’t just want to make any standard lager though, and using their years of brewing experience they have created something bold, bright and tasty.

Made with 95% Maris Otter malt, Spirit has a US style hop profile that is beautifully aromatic, balanced and flavourful with a quenching dryness on the back of the palate.

Named after the Kermode or ‘Spirit’ bear of British Columbia which has a pale yellow coat. Every beer sold helps save 1sq ft. rainforest with My Green Squares.

A cross between a wheat beer and an IPA, Hibernation is cloudy and full bodied like a wheat beer but tastes like an IPA.

Big hugs signature and flagship brew is a style not that common in the UK. Every beer sold helps save 1 sq. ft. of rainforest through their social conscience initiative with My Green Squares.

Brewed using the finest pale ale malt and three complimentary hops, Goldings, Bramling Cross and Chinook. In balancing these three exciting hops they have created a powerful yet drinkable harmony. Curious IPA links to their background as a winemaker. Chapel Down winery learned that great wine such as Champagne and Cote du Rhone use three great grape varieties working in harmony to create better balance and depth.

Product Range // England Curious Brew Lager uses East

Anglian malt, Saaz and Cascade hops, then re-ferment using Champagne yeast before adding a “dosage” of the rare and fragrant Nelson Sauvin hop. Curious Brew is a fusion of brewing and wine-making techniques from England’s largest winery.

Matured with oak to give a delicate balance of sweetness and bitterness, it’s a dark, deliciously distinctive beer. Chapel Down mature the beer with winemakers vanilla oak chips to give a gentle softness and balance to this naturally bitter beer.

An IPA brewed with a blend of malts, to give a full bodied amber beer. The beer is specially brewed with three hops used to dry hop in the cold maturation of the beer, giving a very distinctive hoppy and fruity flavour and aroma. Known for its inimitable style and extreme beers. At the centre of DNA is Dogfish’s signature 60 Minute IPA. The Charles Wells team then add their ‘old-world’ brewing expertise to the DNA to provide this seriously good beer!

Frontier’s aroma highlights citrus zest. Its first sip is clean and crisp, with a cool and refreshing finish. It’s mouthfeel is biscuity, with a slight linger, but not over bitter. Frontier is brewed with new-world hops and old-world brewing techniques, plus crafted for 42 days to give a better mouth feel and fuller flavour. Brewed with an ale yeast the beer is memorable, yet sessionable.

An extremely smooth and well balanced lager with a surprising but subtle chocolate aroma. Made with genuine chocolate this is a unique and versatile beer. This is the world’s first chocolate lager, using actual chocolate and not just malts to achieve a refined taste.

Imported American Cascade and Centennial hops create complex citrus aromas that pair brilliantly with Kentish Goldings hops that impart the traditional bitterness expected from quality pale ales. 150 years ago London brewers had to import Californian hops to meet demand. Meantime continue this tradition by blending US hops and Kentish Goldings to achieve a complex aroma and a bitterness that is uniquely refreshing.

Using soft water allows Meantime to get the most from the light malt used to make this lager, whilst the neutral yeast means it is only the hops and the malt which imparts flavour to this great lager. Utilising the ingredients from London’s back yard. Meantime use the finest East Anglian malting barley and Kentish hops to create this long matured, unpasteurised quintessentially English lager.

This beer has bags of character with a fruity citrus edge (grapefruit and clementine) combined with tropical fruit notes, but with restrained bitterness imparted by the caramel malt. The Yakima Valley in Washington State is regarded as the best hop growing region in the world. Perfect temperature, rainfall, sun exposure and soil imparts, spectacular fruit and citrus flavours with a restrained bitterness.

A pale straw coloured pilsner with complex pine and spice flavours with an elegant bitterness that perfectly represents the true pilsner style.

This Bavarian-style pilsner, like all the worlds great lagers is the product of long and cold fermentation and maturation in order to allow the flavour to develop and ripen.

The rich malty and bready character of mixed chocolate and coffee character notes create an authentic and complex taste you would expect from a London porter. Porter was the great London beer style of the 18th and 19th centuries when London was the global brewing capital. Named after the legions of porters working in the docks, streets and markets who drank this powerful beer.

The natural mocha flavours of the 4 different roasted malts used to brew this rich dark beer are complemented by the real Belgian dark chocolate added during maturation. Warm, complex and smooth it has a long clean finish. At first glance it is tempting to think of a dessert or digestif beer, but in fact it goes very well with casseroles and stews, or Mexican chilli.

The best quality imported German pilsner malt and their own blend of German and Czech Saaz hops contribute to a beautifully-rounded lager, which manages to be both refreshing and satisfying. An unashamedly traditional pilsner style lager that cannot be rushed. Long cold fermentation and maturation, with their specially selected yeast, is essential to achieve the fully-rounded continental flavour.

This crisp golden Pale Ale is brewed from Maris Otter pale ale and Caragold malts. Complex late hop additions give a citrus fruit finishing together with a smooth refreshing palate.

Created but a stones throw from London’s iconic Western gateway using a unique blend of UK and US hops to deliver a cool, refreshing craft beer with just the right hop hit.

The immediate impression of this citrus dominated IPA is soft and smooth building to a crescendo of massive hoppiness, accentuated by honey with an enduring, bitter finish. A fantastically well-balanced beer that’s dangerously drinkable. Jaipur is named after the city of Jaipur in India. This is where Jim Harrison (co-founder) had his honeymoon with his wife, Emma.

Chiron pale ale is golden in colour. Subtle but a spicy aroma with citric notes from the hops, balanced by biscuity malt and tart citrus fruit. Crisp, balanced and wonderfully refreshing. Chiron is named after the Mythical Centaur who was the mentor of Achilles. There is a statue of him at Thornbridge Hall.

Light gold in colour and pours with a pure white head. It has aromas of light bitter lemon with a hint of herb and subtle spiciness. Light bodied and easy drinking the flavours are crisp and dry with a lingering citrus finish. Summer in a glass!

Wild Swan is named after the wild swans that would roam the grounds of Thornbridge Hall.

Product Range // Scotland This trans-atlantic fusion IPA is

light golden with tropical fruits and caramel on the nose. The palate is resinous with the New Zealand hops balanced by biscuit malt. The finish is aggressive with hops emerging over warming alcohol. An IPA that has become a byword for craft beer rebellion; synonymous with the insurgency against mass-produced beer. Charges the barricades to fly its colours from the ramparts full-on, full-flavour; at full-throttle.

Big citrusy aromas of lime zest and lemongrass explode from the glass, against a light caramel malt backbone, with blossoming resinous hop aromas. At first sip, there’s a brittle toffee malt flavour, before grapefruit and pine crash in. West Coast kicks. Paying hop-flecked homage to the glory of the Pacific Coast, Dead Pony pale ale has been crafted with an insane amount of US hops, delivering massive citrus aromas of lemongrass and lime zest.

The nose is a riot of citrus and berry aromas, from orange and lychee to redcurrant. On the palate is a bold resinous bitterness which builds against the burnt sugar sweetness. Bittersweet chaos, 5A.M. is clarity condensed into a single moment. Everything laid out before you is static, but nothing is set. The road runs straight into the shimmering distance. It’s time to take that ride.

Vagabond melds citrus and tropical hop flavours with a light caramel malt base which is backed up with a raucously resinous bitterness.

A hop forward Pale Ale, that just so happens to be gluten free. Brewed using 100% malted barley, US hop varieties, pure Scottish water and their clean-fermenting house ale yeast, Vagabond is missing only one thing - gluten!

Brewing a full flavoured craft beer at 0.5% is no easy task. Packed with five different hops, dry hopped to the brink and back, Nanny State is a force to be reckoned with.

With eight different speciality malts and grains, Nanny State will tantalise your taste buds and leave you yearning for more.

A superbly-balanced and refreshingly lively beer. It has a malty-sweet aroma with a floral, fruity hoppiness and a zingy, zesty flavour. Complex, rounded, sweet and dry; this is the connoisseurs’ session beer par excellence! First brewed in 1997 after a wee fracas broke out in the brewhouse. Nobody can remember exactly who was called “bitter & twisted”, by whom, or even why! But it was one heck of a name-day for this great beer.

Product Range // Scotland Schiehallion is a stunning lager with

elegant head and luscious lacing. It has “aromas and flavours of fresh-cut grass, brown sugar, lychee and green mango” [Melissa Cole] with a crisp palate and a lingering, fresh, grapefruity finish.

Like the famous mountain it takes its name from, their gutsy craft lager, Schiehallion (pronounced “She-hal-e-on”) brings intense reward for the sort who like to plant their flag at the very top.

This gloriously amber coloured ale is made the Simcoe hop. The result is a fantastically fruity finish with malty undertones. Take a glass of Broken Dial and discover a thirst quenching, palate enlivening sip of ale.

Broken Dial is one of the newest ales that the brewers have passionately created. The beer has been entered into two competitions and it’s won both!

A remarkably smooth, creamy brew with a velvety mouthfeel. Flavours of coffee, buttered toffee, dark chocolate and earthy hops. Some mild cherry fruit within the residual sweetness, neatly accompanying the roasted flavours.

They have piled in oats to smooth the bitterness from the roast barley and laid on a super-high-temperature mash to make the wort less fermentable. The result is a black beer that has sweetness, a full flavour as well as a light texture.

A smoky Worcestershire sauce, leather and grilled steak aroma. Flavours of smoky-sweet malts, roasted peat, coffee beans and a well-bittered finish. Overall this is a rather exotic brew with a defined barrel influence. Gaelic for ‘black oil’, created in 2007. The first ale to be matured in whisky barrels from a named distillery, with traceable casks. Taking Old Engine Oil and ageing it for six months in casks that used to hold Highland Park 12 YO.

Golden honey in colour with a smell of caramel and rich roasted malts. The taste is incredibly smooth with a delicious toffee character and a light hop fruitiness. Great with curries, grilled seafood, good-quality burgers and juicy steaks. Discovered by accident in 2003 in a Scottish distillery. Matured originally in hoshead casks that had held bourbon. Now matured both in cask and the Oakerators its blended so a percentage of every batch has sat for weeks in a cask.

Ruby red in colour with a smell of fruit and mulled spice. The taste is surprisingly light. Soft fruits and rich malt with aromatic spiciness from the rum. Great with gamey meats, like venison or duck, or mature cheese and a quality chutney. Rum Finish is the second biggest selling Innis & Gunn beer worldwide. Its matured in oak infused barrels with Navy and Demerara rums.

Light gold in colour with a smell of mown grass and clean grapefruit. With a taste of rich vanilla from the oak, with lots of zestiness and a light hop bitterness from the hops. Great with spicy curries, salty pork crackling and fried chicken. This beer is hopped three times with the third charge of hops added right at the end of the beer making, releasing the more delicate citrus and floral aromas and flavours out of the hops.

Pale gold in colour with the aromas of lemon zest, macadamia nuts and sweet biscuity malt. A Crisp Helles-style taste with soft aromatic hops and rich nuttiness from the oats. Great with fried chicken or fresh fish and chips. Unoaked and brewed with a combination of their own lager malt and naked golden oats which give a smooth finish. Naked golden oats are cultivated to grow without husks so they can extract more flavour from them during brewing.

With a country as big and diverse as the USA, its no wonder their beer has so much to offer.

With the West Coast steam beers cooled on the rooftops of San Francisco to the heavily hopped IPA’s of East Coast New York, the US beer market has seen huge growth in the last 12 months and we have selected some of the big hitters.

Product Range // U.S.A. Brewed since 1896, It has a deep

bronze colour with a thick creamy head. The palate is full and malty with a beautiful bitter hop aroma - a unique beer universally recognised as a classic that traces back to the Gold Rush era. Fritz Maytag, who saved the Anchor Brewery from closure in the 1960s, is widely credited as being the father of American craft brewing.

With deep black colour, a thick, creamy head, rich chocolate, toffee and coffee flavours, and full-bodied smoothness, Anchor Porter® is the epitome of a handcrafted dark beer.

Anchor Porter® became the first modern American porter style beer when it was introduced in 1972. It is the definitive American porter.

Its golden colour, distinctive aroma, creamy head, balanced depth of flavour, and smooth finish make this beer a delicious celebration of California’s unique craft brewing heritage.

In 1876, thanks to an ice pond in the mountains and a belief that anything is possible in the Golden State, a brewery named Boca created California’s first genuine lager. This is their re-creation of this historic American beer.

With a deep amber colour and a exceptionally full-bodied, complex character. Generous quantities of premium Cascade hops give the Sierra Nevada pale ale its fragrant bouquet and spicy flavour. Pale ale began as a home brewer’s dream, grew into a icon, and inspired countless brewers to follow a passion of their own. It is, as it always has been, all natural, bottle conditioned and refreshingly bold.

Torpedo is an aggressive, yet balanced beer, with massive hop aromas of citrus pine and tropical fruit infused using the hop Torpedo for the first time. In 2009 a better way to dry hop than traditional methods became possible with the invention of the Hop Torpedo. It is a steel device which enables the manipulation of the dry hop process through time, temperature and speed.

This porter is brewed in the hop-forward American style and featuring a depth of malt flavour and complexity with roasted notes of black coffee and cocoa. Porters were invented as a fortifying drink for the rough-and-tumble working class of London’s bustling markets. It was brewed for good folks with calluses on their hands, doing work that needed to be done.

Product Range // U.S.A. The flavour starts crisp and tangy

and ends with a coriander and orange spiciness. The Valencia orange peel gives a subtle sweetness to the beer. Once the first batches were brewed, Keith Villa held an informal tasting at the brewery. After a couple sips, as luck would have it, an admin assistant exclaimed, “Something this good only comes around once in a blue moon.”

A golden-coloured beer with a prominent flowery, citrusy hop aroma. Its flavour delivers a moderate caramel malt and a dominant hop bitterness. Hometown Kansas City is famous for BBQs, not celebrities, biking, or subways. Boulevard earns loyal fans on its reputation for innovation, quality and authenticity. This IPA is the perfect representation of a modern US beer.

A straw colour, light to medium-bodied beer with a citrusy, spicy hop aroma and flavour, a soft, sweet malt finish and a prominent hop bitterness.

Most breweries have one piece of equipment that’s a bit pernickety. At Boulevard there’s fermenter no. 7. While experimenting with a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements combined in that vessel.

Vienna-style lager with German hops. A sweet, well-balanced copper coloured beer with a smooth taste.

They named the city after the brewery. Nicholas who appears on the front of the bottle showed up to work each day, enjoyed drinking beer and this all they know about him.

The intriguing character is derived from generous quantities of the choicest Yakima Valley Cascade hops and the finest malts. The brewery continues to successfully brew quality beer, just as the brewery’s founders, Frank Wahle and George Ruder, did in 1857.

A delicious American pale ale with a signature fragrant hop bouquet and a soft malt palate.

Recently voted the “Best of the midwest” in the United States beer tasting championships.

A smooth and refreshing distinctive beer brewed in the tradition of Belgian-style white ales. It is naturally flavoured with a hint of Curaçao orange peel and coriander. Stevens Point brewery dates back to 1857 and is the 7th oldest brewery in the USA. Now in its 158th year they are the 26th largest in the USA.

It’s the colour of a golden sunset and a fruity hop aroma. On the palate flavours of a rich malt middle to create a perfectly balanced beer.

Product Range // U.S.A. A hop lover’s dream. With the

colour of bourbon and a fruity aroma, set off by a dry malt middle, and long hop finish from the six varities used.

This IPA recalls a time when ales shipped from England to India were highly hopped in order to preserve their distinct taste during the long journey.

An all-day IPA naturally brewed with an array of malts, grains and hops. Balanced for optimal aromatics and a clean finish. The perfect reward for an honest day’s work and the ultimate companion to celebrate life’s simple pleasures. The brewery’s philosophy is that “We don’t brew beer for the masses.... We make beer for people like us.”

With a floral bouquet frothy head and citrus accents from the abundance of dry hopping, this one’s sweet, yet balanced malty undertones shake hands with the hop character for a finish that never turns too bitter.

Mike Stevens and Dave Engbers had steady jobs when they decided to chase their dreams and open a brewery - quitting their jobs and taking out huge loans. They figured if you’re going to live life you ought to live it hard with no regrets.

A Colorado-style IPA, power hopped with speciality hops from the Pacific North West. This is the brewery’s hop monster and the citrus fruit aroma will hypnotise the senses. The bottle labels are created by Ralph Steadman whose artwork is closely associated with infamous gonzo journalist Hunter S Thompson.

Ranked as #1 in the USA by the New York Times. Brilliant amber colour and dry hopped with buckets full of Cascades for an unrivalled hop flavour and aroma. This is a true representation of the American pale ale.

This beer used to have a somewhat more controversial name than the functional “Pale Ale”.

Aromas of grapefruit and spice meld into lemon and pine hop notes balanced with crisp cracker malt. Pair this American IPA with BBQ, Mexican or spicy Asian dishes or just on hand for anything that calls for a light , flavourful beer. Easy IPA is the first beer in their Brewhouse Rarities series of staff-pitched and elected limited releases to become a part of the regular portfolio.

A Vienna-style lager, deep amber in colour, it has a superb balance of sweet malt and crisp bitter hop as well as being dry hopped for even more flavour.

Working as a journalist in the war torn middle east beer was hard to come by so Steve Hindy, co founder of Brooklyn Brewery, learned to brew in the bathrooms of his hotel rooms.

Northern English brown ales tend to be strong and dry, while southern brown ales are milder and sweeter. This combines the best of those classic styles and then adds an American accent in the form of a firm hop character and roasty palate. This is the award-winning original American brown ale, first brewed as a holiday speciality, and now one of their most popular beers year-round.

Product Range // U.S.A. Brooklyn ½ Ale is a refreshing

beer (as a saison should be!) dry, hoppy, citrusy and just a little bit funky. At just 3.4% ABV it certainly falls well within what anyone would describe as a session ale.

Brooklyn Brewery ½ Ale harks back to traditional farmhouse ales, which used to quench the thirst of farmhands and other labourers on hot sunny days. These saisons were complex yet clean, low in alcohol and high in refreshment.

This Vienna-style beer combines the full flavour of ale with the smoothness of lager. It is a full-bodied, complex, balanced beer with a caramel sweetness balanced with distinct citrus and pine notes and a strong, smooth finish. The recipe for Samuel Adams was one that Jim Koch’s great-great grandfather, Louis Koch had made at his brewery in St Louis, Missouri in the 1870’s.

Enjoy this classic, refreshing American style pale ale bursting with grapefruity citrus flavour. Dry hopped for greater aroma and flavour with a quartet of four American hop varieties delivering a big, bold, brash hoppy beer. Beer born out of a conversation between Master Brewer at Shipyard Brewing Co and Master Brewer at Marston’s to craft American-style pale ale to satisfy the British drinker.

Chimay Gold has a subtle combination of fresh hops and spices. It has a fruity touch of Muscat grapes and raisins. Since 1862, the monks of Chimay began to brew their first beer according to the monastic traditions of natural brewing and top fermentation, followed by refermentation in the bottle.

Beautifully balanced, Light in body, pale in colour and strong in character. It combines the refreshing drinkability of a lager with the aromas and full body of a fine ale.

This top fermented beer is re-fermented in the bottle and undergoes a ninety day conditioning process. Duvel means devil in Flemish and it is certainly sinfully deceptive.

Kwak is a dark, warming beer with liquorice-like flavours and a slightly spicy character. The background bitterness emerges delicately in the finish. Kwak is usually served in its iconic “Stirrup Cup” glass, which is so “collectable” that some bars in Belgium require the deposit of a shoe before handing one over.

La Chouffe has a hazy, golden-blonde colour. It is pleasantly fruity, spiced with coriander and a distinctive flavour of fresh fruits tinged with hops.

8% bottle conditioned golden ale from Belgium. The product label is easily recognisable due to the friendly elf bearing hops and malt.

Leffe Blonde is a classic Abbey beer with smooth and well balanced fruity, warming flavours. The beer has hints of quince, gooseberry, bitter cherry and apple flavours together with cloves, nutmeg and allspice. Leffe traces its origin back to the Abbaye Notre Dame De Leffe. A testament to how the brand has stayed true to its original brew Leffe’s unique brewing heritage is now shared and enjoyed by consumers worldwide.

Leffe Brune has a delicate taste of vanilla and clove paired with the full aroma and taste of toffee and caramel. Dark brown in appearance, it takes its colour from darkly roasted malt. A perfect beer to sample among friends, while you read a good book or in front of a warm fireplace in the evening. Also ideally paired with aperitif snacks or cheese and it goes perfectly with spicy, caramelised or sweet and sour dishes.

St Stefanus Blonde

Abbey Beer

Unique in that it is unpasteurised and continues maturing in the bottle. After three months it is light golden with cinnamon and banana aromas and a caramel taste. After eighteen months, it is deep golden with a more pronounced spiciness. With roots dating back to 1295, it’s the original abbey beer. To this day it’s brewed with three different yeasts and matured for at least three months. Unpasteurised, high fermented beer that is then refermented in the bottle.

A delicious refreshing taste, surprisingly crisp, punctuated with an orange and lemon like zest, rounded with a mildly bitter taste and dry finish.

Part of the Vedett family and featuring the same zany back label, both the taste and appearance are distinctive. A Belgian top-fermented white beer which is unfiltered bottle conditioned. Adjuncts include wheat, lemon zest and coriander. Sharp at first but sweetens with

a hint of peppery bitterness. Fruity and cleansing, soft and dry balanced cherry taste, with a perfect equilibrium between the sweet and sour aspects. Brewed only once a year, the beer is enriched with a selection of freshly picked Morello cherries. It is maturated for up to 3 years in the cellars, different vintages are blended into what is a unique ‘master blend’.

Premium lager with a crisp, clean, dry taste ensuring ultimate refreshment and quality. Pleasant lemony fragrance, with light creamy maltiness beneath. Vedett translates literally as “Star” in both Flemish and French and every back label features imagery or content that has been uploaded to Vedett.com

With a mild bitterness which increases in intensity, revealing hints of grapefruit in the finish before giving rise to sweeter caramel notes. It has a long-lasting, dry aftertaste that continues to tantalise the taste buds. IPA, but not really from India and not really a pale ale!

A summery, refreshing fruit beer that is delightfully sweet, with the sparkle of Champagne and the freshness of a nicely chilled glass of wine.

Left to mature for 18 months on fresh cherries then enriched with a blend of 100% natural fruit juices. Thanks to this selection of wild cherries, strawberries, raspberries, elderberries and bilberries.

Beer in Mexico has a long history, taking influences from Spain during the conquest and the arrival of German immigrants in the 19th century.

Over time a number of micro brewers have started to produce craft beer one of which is Cerveceria Mexicana who produce Day of the Dead. This is to celebrate the 3000 year old Aztec festival where the deceased are honoured.

Germany has a rich heritage of brewing and created the Rheinheitsgebot “Germany Beer Purity Law”.

In 1516, this law stated that all beer should be created with just three ingredients - water, barley and hops. The Rheinheitsgebot is no longer part of German law, it was replaced by the Provisional German Beer Law in 1993 which allows components such as yeast, wheat malt and cane sugar to be added.

“Beer, it’s the

best damn drink

in the world”

Jack Nicholson

Product Range // Germany Fresh and fruity with apple and

banana, light biscuity grains, with hints of spice with a full, and ultimately refreshing taste The use of more than 50% of wheat malt in addition to barley malt and traditional bottle fermentation, gives the top-fermented wheat beer a sparkling taste. Very few breweries still apply this complex brewing method.

Brewed with noble hops, good quality malt and pure water this Pils has a wonderful balance with a crispness on the finish that adds up to the distinctive Krombacher taste.

Krombacher is authentic and original, imported from Germany. Brewed only in one location (Krombach) using Felsquellwasser, very soft mountain spring water which is sourced from 48 springs around the brewery.

Made using two different brewing methods and the same ingredients as standard Pils: one interrupting the fermentation process before alcohol starts to develop, the other withdraws developed alcohol from the fully-brewed beer.

Krombach appears in documents for the first time around 1300, and over the centuries had 100 to 200 inhabitants. Although evidence suggests that there were a number of diverse brewery establishments prior to this. The nose is a soft wheat with

hints of baking bread and clove. This Hefe-Weizen has a special strain of yeast that provides zesty flavour. The mouth feel is light-medium and wheaty smooth with a perfect blend of carbonation. The isotonic drink is free of chemical additives, fat and cholesterol. With slight infusion of alcohol and the only beer pasteurised by the brewery.

Birthplace of pilsner, this country had a huge impact on the world of beer

production. We have selected the beer that started it all, the original Pilsner.

This was created by Josef Groll a Bavarian brewer hired by the town of Pilsen in 1842.

First introduced by Charles V in 1537 when he built a brewery next to the Manzanares river to supply his court with ice cold beer. It continued to grow in

popularity with Phillip II ensuring it continued to be produced during his reign. At the end of the 19th century increased beer consumption meant large breweries opening across the country with Estrella Damm in 1876 and Alhambra in 1890.

Bernabe is the patron Saint of Logroño. Celebrated on the 11th of June it commemorates a siege by the French in 1521, the citizens survived on bread, wine and fish that they caught at night when they crept through the secret tunnels under the city’s walls.

This beer has a light beige head, intense clear rich copper red colour with a balanced bitterness from the locally grown hops. The rich malty notes give a lovely caramel sweetness. Named after the famous Saint Fermin which is the patron saint of the nearby city of Pamplona. The city celebrates the Saints Day on the 7th of July with the world famous bull-run through the city.

This beer is a typical German wheat beer style, a big foamy white head with lemon cloudy body and aromas of cloves, unripe banana and grass. On the palate it has refreshing hints of clove, vanilla, citrus light crisp and dry. Saint Mateo is celebrated in city of Logroño. Held on the 21st of September it celebrates the beginning of the grape harvest which is so important to the city and region.

Brewed with wheat and barley malt, flavours are accentuated with coriander, orange peel and liquorice. Its appearance is slightly cloudy; highly aromatic with creamy, fresh texture, soft volume and a pleasantly long aftertaste. elBulli Head Chef Ferran Adrià and his team of sommeliers believed in the need for a beer to accompany and complement the varied flavours found in modern gastronomy. It’s the largest producer of barley in Europe and the worlds largest malt exporter. One of the most popular and historical styles is Biere de garde or “beer for keeping” which was brewed in the winter and enjoyed during the summer months.

Beer in Japan had its start in the 17th Century when travelling Dutch traders opened a beer hall for sailors working in the ports. In 1996 the law in Japan opened up the industry to allow the creation of microbreweries, one of which was Hitachino Nest.

A top fermented beer made with hops from three continents. It’s a mix between a “Biere de Garde” and an IPA with distinctive aromas of citrus and lychee with a hoppy but refreshing aftertaste. The brewery was started thanks to a group of actors from the movie “Germinal,” which was filmed in northern France.

Brewed in the tradition of a Belgian-style white beer with coriander, nutmeg, orange peel and orange juice. Refreshing, mildly-hopped with a complex flavour it is one of Hitachino’s top-selling beers in Japan and the USA.

Additions to the brew include flaked wheat, flaked barley, coriander, nutmeg, orange peel & orange juice.

Complex sake-like flavours with sweet malt notes and hints of strawberries in the nose and palate. Brewed with special red rice (also called “ancient rice” in Japan) an intriguing mix of Sake, malt and bitter notes to finish. The distinctive Hitachino Nest owl logo originates from the Japanese village of Kounosu where the beers are brewed. In a literal translation, Kounosu means “nest”.

Beer is the most popular alcoholic drink in New Zealand, accounting for 63% of available alcohol for sale. It only started to be produced when Europeans arrived in the late 18th Century. Its said that the first beer created in New Zealand was the result of Captain James Cook looking to cure scurvy brewing a beer using spruce tip needles.

Summer Ale

“Who cares how time advances?

I am drinking ale today.”

Edgar Allan Poe

Product Range // New Zealand An eastern European-style

lager with immense flavour and enormous hop character, this premium beer leaves you with a clean, crisp taste.

Set up by Stewart Monteith in 1868 for the pioneering gold mining communities on the west coast of New Zealand.

The malts give it the smooth heart, the single hop and ginger its touch of spice. A little rata honey finishes things off nicely, leaving you with a truly refreshing taste experience.

Great with summer salads and stir-fries, or creamy brie.

BrewDog Vagabond Pale Ale

It’s their gluten free one. Someone saw me drinking it and asked if I was gluten intolerant and I hadn’t even realised it was gluten free - I just really liked it!

Boulevard Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale After pushing hoppiness as far as it will go US craft brewers have turned to yeast to find new forms of expression. This is a beautifully balanced mash-up of modern American and traditional Belgian craft styles.

Harviestoun Ola Dubh

One of the original and still one of the best barrel-aged beers. The perfect beer to drink by a camp fire as dusk falls.

Adnams Mosaic Pale Ale

Mosaic is a hop that can sing arias when it’s given the right stage and here it’s produced a symphony of tropical fruits and nettle-like bitterness.

Hitachino Nest White Ale

As if Belgian-style wheat beers weren’t refreshing enough, Hitachino has added not only the usual coriander seed and orange peel but nutmeg and orange juice - slightly tart, and delicious with salmon sashimi.

Mateo & Bernabé Santiago 25

Brewed to the style of a lower alcohol Belgian dubbel, with warming cinnamon and clove aromas and a rye bread body, it has a hint of the barley wine to it with rich red fruit nose and silky sweetness - a real class act.
