We address the needs of our community through the following Continuing Educa-tion departments:

Private Sector Professional Training, Development & Certification

This division provides credit and non-credit learning op-portunities for the working professional as well as cus-tomized training programs to meet the needs of local business and industry. We provide high quality, integrated, and innovative programs that enable participants to achieve their career and learning objectives through access to affordable education and employment skills training. We offer a variety of con-tinuing education units (CEU’s), contact hours, certificate programs, lectures, short courses, conferences, symposia, and seminars. The John Scott Dailey Florida Institute of Government (IOG) has been southwest Florida’s training partner for more than 25 years. Our mission is to improve the

effec-tiveness, quality, and performance of community organizations through training, professional development and organizational assessment. Local governments, schools, and not-for-profits have come to depend on IOG as their resource for professional and organizational development needs and challenges. Convenient for working professionals, those in transition, students, as well as employers, Continuing Education offers online education modules to meet a variety of learning needs, ranging from:

• OLE CARE, FGCU’s one-hour modules meeting annual re-licensure require-ments for health and human services professions;

• The e-Learning center’s self-study, short courses on a variety of topics, includ-ing various CEU offerinclud-ings;

• American Safety Council’s programs, offering OSHA safety-related training, court-ordered driving programs, and the Parent Education & Family Stabiliza-tion course, among others;

• Gatlin Education Services’ in-depth, instructor-guided Career Training Certifi-cate Programs;

• Ed2Go’s 6-week instructor-facilitated professional development and training courses.

The Renaissance Academy

Explore a world of ideas and nurture your cre-ativity with the non-credit courses, workshops, lectures, and adventures for the mind, body, and spirit offered through the Renaissance Academy Adult Lifelong Learning Program. The Academy is the University’s and region’s premier lifelong learning program for adults, seniors, and retirees. Single lectures, short courses, day trips, comput-er classes, film scomput-eries, life enrichment, and travel

abroad are just some of programs we offer. There are no exams or grades, just learning for the joy of learning with your friends, neighbors, and peers.
