Challenges and Solutions for AVIVA DC3*
AVIVA is set to open its third data centre (DC3)
Design & Build of TIER3+ Data Centre for supply of HD Cabinets x 96 Units to a design capacity of 24 kW per HD Cabinet complete with HD Server Cabinet, this HD Area was supported by a Rittal D&B Secondary Ring Loop back to HEPU Units with the duty supply of x 24 off 100kW HEPU Units, totalling 2.4 MW. In addition to this HD requirement, Rittal also supplied and installed all MD, LD & Cisco Comms Cabinets complete with our CMC Platform for Monitoring & Remote Management, linked back to FM BMS Systems. In total over 500 off Cabinets was installed in a time period of 10 working days and fully connected and Handed over as operational compliant to being seen on BMS System via a network connection.
*Aviva signed in 2009 a 10-year outsourcing deal with EDS a HP Company and will transfer the assets, development and operational staff of DC3 to EDS.

The Commerzbank is the third-largest private bank in Germany and is one of the major European banks. Banks in particular, with their large amounts of sensitive data, rely on a high level of security and availability. For several years, Rittal has been the qualified partner providing permanent and reliable data transfers. The financial giant is constantly acquiring Rittal technology for its sensitive Data Centres. The Commerzbank Service Centre in Frankfurt shows what modern Rack technology can do in the banking sector. In the Commerzbank Service Centre Rittal installed over 2800 Rittal TS 8 Server and Network Racks with various configurations of accessories and special cable management solutions throughout the site. Right from the start, the financial services provider emphasised ease of expandability, with the result that the number of racks there is still increasing constantly, even today.
Commerzbank counts on Rittal products – Data Center equipped with > 2800 Server & Network Cabinets, socket strips and various accessories throughout the site. Last generation cabinets are retrofitted with RFID Technology.

HUK-COBURG
Always improving – for tradition's sake
HUK-COBURG is one of the largest insurance companies in Germany. Consequently, there is a large amount of IT behind the many services it offers. Insurance companies are technology-driven and define their business processes largely by means of IT. Anyone receiving up to 35,000 items of post a day has to use high-tech to process it quickly. Information from the incoming post has to be scanned, prepared and archived. HUKCOBURG decided on a new, second data centre, in which the computer and network environment was completely based on Rittal's universal RimatriX5 infrastructure solution. This data centre was built together with an input and an output centre. The initials of the project's German designation spell out the word "RIO". But this RIO is in Coburg, Germany.
Rittal supplied special preconfigurated DK Server and Network enclosures according to Itaú´s needs including several special cable management solutions and site assembling of the cabinets.

Exclusive Sneak Peek: NYSE Euronext's New US Data Center
The site is enormous. It's larger than a World War II aircraft carrier and is future built, meaning there is room to expand (both physically and in terms of using more power). There are 67 miles of conduit underneath the data center -- enough to stretch from 11 Wall Street (the home of the NYSE) to Mahwah and back. The site also has 28 megawatts of power, enough to power 4,500 residential homes. And to top things off, the building's main hallway is large enough to drive a truck through (literally). The data center will soon house all of NYSE Euronext's US exchange matching engines and is equipped to collocate all of the exchange's customers in a secure, low latency environment.

Obwaldner Kantonalbank
Now it´s all safe
August 2005 left a trail of destruction in some areas of Switzerland. Many cellars in Sarnen and the local Data centre of the Obwaldner Kantonalbank (OKB) were flooded when Lake Sarnen burst its banks. The bank’s IT infrastructure had to be restored quickly to enable operations to continue. The OKB is now using a modular and scalable system of rack-mounted climate control for the newly installed data centre to replace the company’s previous air-conditioning system.
