Enters aviation services market

Garda begins its partnership with the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA), after winning the contract to perform pre-boarding security screening at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The company steps up to the challenge and creates a world-class screening operation now present in 28 airports across Canada.

Enters a brave new world The company starts to expand its global protective services throughout the Middle East by merging high-threat operations of Vance International and consulting firm Kroll Security International. It also continues the expansion and consolidation of its cash services presence in Midwestern United States with the acquisition of seven local companies. Garda is named “publicly traded Company of the Year” by Les Affaires, a leading business weekly newspaper in Canada.

Corporate citizenship

We take advantage of our size, reach and expertise to play an active role in solving local issues in the communities where we operate.

“ It is obvious that GardaWorld is committed to providing the best possible service in the worst possible situations.”

Jon Good, Manager of Alternative Cash & Electronic Services at Susquehanna Bancshares Inc, on GardaWorld’s response during Hurricane Sandy

(31)

From a broad perspective, we help people improve the quality of life in their communities. We focus on reducing our environmental impact and carbon footprint by investing in an efficient fleet with maximized routes.

We strive to create a great place to work for our more than 45,000 team members – a place they can be proud of.

We recognize the importance of giving back to society. Our aim is to have a positive social, economic and environmental impact on the communities where we live and work.

Our culture of local engagement has seen us work in regions across the world to improve the lives of others. That commitment to local engagement spans educational projects in Afghanistan, providing health services to rural communities in Kurdistan to community building in North America.

In disaster situations, we provide relief by protecting people and assets with speed and efficiency.

(32)

Governance

Our clients rely on us to protect their reputations,

and we take this responsibility seriously. We have a process approach to preparation, management and planning.

This involves maintaining the readiness of the whole organization to respond to the most severe disruptions – at any time.

(33)

Our approach to governance is guided by two of our core values: reliability and accountability. We take every reasonable step to safeguard the security of our own people, property and information, as well as those of our clients. We have a responsibility to those who rely on us, and on whom we rely, to create and maintain an environment where they can thrive and perform safely and with confidence.

Shaping best practice

International regulation and accountability have become a major focus for the security services industry. And we are at the forefront of shaping best practice: we are member of the Steering Committee for the final negotiations of the Charter to form the Oversight Mechanism of the International Code of Conduct for Private Security Service Providers (ICoC).

Our employees follow five guiding principles, designed to encourage honest and ethical behavior: upholding the law, confidentiality, integrity, fairness and loyalty.

Every day, we continue our journey to become the undisputed industry leader in risk

mitigation, compliance, corporate governance and integrity.

We protect our clients, people, reputation, investments and assets through a rigorous approach to preparation, management and planning.

(35)

Now privately owned, we are in a stronger position to take advantage of organic and acquisitive growth opportunities, to expand into new industries and markets. We are continually seeking improvements and efficiencies that translate directly to our clients in a seamless client experience.

Careful investment has built a solid, durable foundation for each of our businesses, meaning we can assure clients of our superior and sustained ability to deliver the future services they need in new markets.

No matter where we are, in established or new markets, our entrepreneurial spirit – our ambition, agility and drive – is in everything we do; it is the essence of who we are and the core of our client focus. A spirit brought to life by the hardest workers in the industry, committed to delivering quality, efficiently.

Where we are heading

Since 1995, we have grown to become

a successful, global business by being a

trusted partner to our clients – we pride

ourselves on jointly overcoming challenges.
