Heirloom

Italian

seeds

imported

from

Italy

After a decade of success selling through independent garden centers and markets in

the Northeast and West Coast, Seeds from Italy is now expanding into your area.

Seeds from Italy is the U.S. distributor for Franchi Sementi, Italy’s oldest seed company, since 1783. Franchi specializes in heirloom vegetables and herbs that have been passed down through generations because of their great flavor. Franchi seeds are packaged in large, hermetically sealed packets with full-color photos on the front and growing instructions in multiple languages, including English, on the back. Seed counts are extremely generous. You’ve never seen seed packets like these, and when you get a rack full of them, they stop traffic! Besides their appeal to vegetable gardeners, they offer many other marketing opportunities. They make thoughtful, unique gifts alone or paired with related products. Sell them with cookbooks or gardening books; use them in gift baskets with gardening tools, cooking gadgets, or Italian food products.

In our experience, these seeds are extremely popular and profitable in large urban and suburban garden centers, markets, and gift shops where customers are interested in cooking and eating well. They also sell very well in areas with a large Italian-American

population. If this describes your store, please read on for full details of the various racks we offer.

Seed packs are 45/8” by 67/8

Based on our experience with what sells best, we offer pre-selected packages in sizes to fit every outlet. We have chosen varieties based on the demographics of your customers: Italian racks are for stores with a large number of

customers of Italian descent. These are specialty varieties that are much loved by Italian cooks.

Standard racks are for stores with a more general demographic and include varieties that are well-known to everyone who likes to cook and eat well.

Rack prices start at $489.60, shipping included. Suggested Retail Prices for the seeds are $3.15 for regular packs, and $3.95 for hybrids and Special Selection seeds. Please continue for sizes and prices.

(2)

Each category of rack, Italian and Standard, is available in four sizes: • Small rack includes a 5-foot gridwall and 240 seed packs.

• Double small rack is the same rack with enough seeds to stock both front and back. • Large rack includes a 6-foot gridwall and 415 seed packs.

• Double large rack is the same rack with enough seeds to stock both front and back.

If you prefer, you can select varieties yourself from our selection of more than 400 vegetables, herbs, and flowers. A minimum of 5 packs per variety for a total minimum of 240 packs is required.

The rack is black powder-coated metal with feet and a 7” x 22” full-color Seeds from Italy sign, shown below. We require a $50 deposit for the rack upon your first order; if you order a second year, you will have a $50 credit toward seeds. If you don’t reorder, you can either keep the rack or return it for a refund.

Thank you for considering welcoming Seeds from Italy to your store. We promise your customers will be excited by the presentation of our rack and seeds, and thrilled by the vigor and flavor of the plants they grow. To see our full selection of seeds, visit us soon at www.growitalian.com

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Grazie e Ciao!

Retail Outlet – General Information & Order Guide

2012 Growing Season

Seeds from Italy PO Box 3908 Lawrence, KS 66046

Web: www.growitalian.com Email: [email protected]

We have several order options which will meet the needs of most outlets.

You can take advantage of our sales experience and choose one of our pre-selected packages.

The varieties

and quantities in these have been determined from previous years’ sales in centers which match your customer

demographics and your current seed sales figures. All racks require a $50 deposit, which becomes a store credit

of $50 toward a second-year order. All racks have a double-sided option that can be ordered or modified later if

your sales grow.

a.

If your center is (1) medium to large (e.g., you carry 3-5 lines of seeds); (2)

you service a population

NOT primarily of Italian descent

; and (3) this is the first year you are carrying our seeds, then you

probably should take Option #1 - The Small Standard Pack (30 varieties). The seeds in this package

have proven to be excellent sellers in your type of center. The quantity of seeds should take a medium

center through most of the selling season. A large center would probably have to reorder. Comes with a

5’ metal gridwall rack.

b.

If your center is (1) medium to large (3-5 lines of seeds); (2

) you service a population primarily of

Italian descent

; and (3) this is the first year you are carrying our seeds, then you probably should take

Option #2 The Small Italian Pack (30 varieties). While many of the varieties are the same as the

standard pack, there are a number of changes which meet the very specific preferences of customers of

Italian origin. As with the standard pack, the initial order will probably carry a small or medium sized

center through the first selling season. Comes with the same 5’ metal gridwall rack.

c.

If you are a large garden center or busy Italian market, select one of the large packs of 40 varieties.

Comes with a 6’ metal gridwall rack. Option #3, is the Large Standard Pack; Option #4 is the Large

Italian Pack.

Another option is to pick your own selections

. The minimum order is 240 packs, in multiples of at least 5 for

any variety. Take the following into consideration: Genovese basil, arugula and San Marzano tomato sell at four

to five times the rate of a slower seller such as lettuce. The next best sellers are beans, misticanza, zucchini,

other tomatoes, lettuce leaf basil, parsley, cima di rapa and tortarello and beth alpha cucumber. Next best sellers

are chard, radicchio, chioggia beets, kale and peppers. Slowest sellers tend to be lettuce, carrots and escarole

(except at centers with customers of Italian origin). While our displays have space for 30 and 40 varieties, you

do not necessarily have to take 30 varieties.

Your signature on this order form means that you accept our sales terms and conditions. Please check

these carefully and call if you have any questions.

Our seeds are sold outright.

We do not do consignment.

Payment terms are 30 days net. If you take

delivery in December or January, we can extend the payment terms to 60 or 90 days on your request, with

approved credit.

Credit Policy

. We can open a sales account with approved credit. Please email for a credit application.

Alternatively, you can pay with a credit card. We will bill the card the day before we ship your order.

Returns.

Although our seeds are for sale outright, you can return up to 25% of your initial order for a credit

against next year’s order.

Returned seeds must be in salable condition (no rips, tears, discoloration, etc.)

. It

is usually just as easy to store them for resale the following season. Our seeds are packed in hermetically sealed

packages and, typical of European seeds, have at least two-year expiration dates.

Minimum Initial Order.

You can either take one of our preselected packs (see attachment for complete

descriptions) or you may select your own varieties. In order to receive the lowest wholesale price, there is a

minimum initial order of 240 packs selected in multiples of five. You can order fewer, but the seed price will be

slightly higher and you will have to pay for a display.

Display racks.

Display racks are provided with your initial order; if you do not need a display, please let us

know. Metal gridwall racks remain the property of Seeds from Italy until the second order. If you stop selling

our seeds, you must return the display rack or forfeit the $50 deposit. If you order a second year, the $50

deposit becomes a store credit to be used for seeds, and the rack is yours.

Shipping Methods and Charges.

For Initial Orders, we ship Fedex or UPS ground on any order over $350 for

free. For smaller orders or for expedited shipment, we will charge you the actual freight charge.

Shipping

Time:

We ship within 72 hours of receipt of your order.

Reorders.

While there is no minimum reorder, please order only in multiples of five packets per variety when

reordering. For reorders of $200 or more, we pay freight; for smaller orders, we will charge you actual UPS

freight cost. You can find variety names and SKUs on our website,

www.growitalian.com

. However, the website

cannot process retail orders; please email, fax or phone them to us.

Errors, Claims, Substitutions.

All products are offered on a direct sale basis. Product returned without prior

arrangement will be refused. Please report any shipping errors immediately. 785-748-0959. We reserve the right

to substitute similar varieties unless you specifically request that we don’t do so.

Guarantee.

Seeds from Italy warrants to the full amount of the purchase price that the products are as

described on the packages within commonly accepted tolerances. They are all tested by Franchi Sementi Spa of

Bergamo, Italy, and minimum germination rates and purity are listed. Seeds are untreated and no seeds are

genetically modified.
