Personal Banker, Job Description

Job Title: Personal Banker

Department: Avoca - Retail

Reports To: Avoca Branch Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Application Due: December 24, 2020 SUMMARY:

Develop and enhance banking relationships by prospecting new customers and calling on existing customers. Provide expertise in all deposit products and services which means attending internal and external training sessions as assigned by supervisor. Products and services include checking, savings, IRAs, safe deposit boxes, online banking, telephone banking and debit cards. Personal Bankers must also have a basic understanding overdraft protection, home equity line of credits and credit cards and loans.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1) Conduct daily teller work duties including but not limited to: deposits, withdrawals, balancing of one’s teller drawer, customer inquiries, transfers and safe deposit box entry and exit.

2) Perform proper and timely workflow that relates to opening new accounts and completing all necessary CIP and compliance paperwork to ensure legal and compliant accounts.

3) Create extraordinary customer service in every aspect of your duties at Shelby County State Bank by strengthening loyalties, listening, caring, exuding empathy, and providing positive solutions when dealing with others.

4) Proactively participate in business development for Shelby County State Bank. This includes prospecting for new customers and retaining our existing customers.

5) Answer customer questions and resolve customer problems expediently and empathetically.

6) Counsel new customers to choose appropriate products. Cross-sell products and services to customers appropriately – identify value for those customers who have a need for a particular product or service.

7) Duties within responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

- Assist in the maintenance and monitoring of the branch’s cash position. - Conduct branch specific daily transaction scanning, transmitting, and

monitoring in an efficient and accurate manner.

- Act as support for the loan function of the branch including but not limited to: scanning of loan documents, acceptance of loan payments, applying of advances and payments, assisting in NSF review, and other tasks assigned. - Great all customers in person and on the phone in a warm and friendly

manner.

- Create an atmosphere of teamwork by helping out coworkers to promote a positive and fun working environment.

- Complete required training within designated time frame.

- Report all compliance issues, violations of law or regulation in accordance with the steps defined in the SCSB Compliance Accountability Program. 8) Complies with regulatory rules and regulations, evidenced through successful

completion of training and demonstrated ability. Topics include but are not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti Money Laundering, Ethics, Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), etc.

9) Reflects a positive image for the Bank by exuding professional demeanor at all times

and contributing to community involvement.

10) Keeps abreast of current industry trends, regulatory issues and overall economic environment. Integrates knowledge into strategic and operational business planning. 11) Performs other duties as assigned by management based on performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Required:

• Excellent oral and written skills.

• Ability to multi-task and excellent organizational skills. • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products. • Excellent customer service skills.

• High School Diploma or equivalent, college degree is preferable; at least one year related experience and/or training. Excellent P.C. skills, ability to work well with others and attention to detail. Ability to reason, problem solve, analyze issues and use sound judgment. Strong team player and be able to work unsupervised. Regular and predictable attendance is a required essential function of the job. Desired:

• 3+ years’ experience in retail bank setting • Associates or Bachelor’s degree.

• Sales experience.

Computer and data processing literacy required, including adept experience with Microsoft Office programs. Experience with Business Objects is helpful, but not

required. Bank regulation and compliance is required. Mathematical, organizational and verbal and written communication skills required. Must be highly motivated with good communication skills, autonomous, and capable executing tactical plans in line with strategic objectives.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to communicate professionally and distinctly to the general public and other coworkers. Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and basic algebra.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid driver’s license is preferred for travel to Bank offices, training sessions, customer meetings, Bank and community meetings, etc. Ability to speak a foreign language helpful but not required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.

Must be willing to office out of the Avoca location. Must be willing to work on a Saturday rotation and a pre-determined monthly schedule with hours assigned between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Flexibility is needed due to unforeseen

circumstances.
