Campus Details: ________________ Warragul Campus 71 Warragul-Korumburra Road Warragul (03) 5622 6000 ________________ Classes/Training Students will receive a minimum of four

face-to-face individual training sessions per year. In addition, students may request access to a CCG trainer for supervision and support during our business operating hours.

Students will be provided with a learning program to follow for self-paced learning between sessions.

________________

Course duration: This course consists of approximately 42 weeks of structured training. Students can begin their

training at any time in consultation with the Program Leader.

Course outline and delivery: The Certificate IV in Horticulture is aimed at individuals responsible for all aspects of harvesting, cultivating and maintaining plants, whilst working independently or supervising others. Topics may include developing soil health and a plant nutrition program; sampling soils and interpreting results; and recruiting, selecting and inducting staff. To achieve this qualification 12 units are required to be successfully completed including 1 core and 11 elective units.

What is Workplace Training: Workplace based training offers the convenience of bringing training to your door and is a great way to learn new skills. CCG’s approach to training is a combination of theory, instruction and structured on-the-job learning which allows hands-on practical applicatihands-on and practice of the theory. The most significant benefits of workplace based training include:

 Minimal disruption to work flow;

 Training is relevant to and tied in with existing or proposed work tasks;

 Students are able to apply new skills in their job role as they progress

In workplace based programs, the training is the responsibility of CCG, the student and the employer. A qualified and experienced workplace trainer is allocated to the student with training visits scheduled for every 6-8 weeks, depending on your program and are approximately 1-5 hours in duration, however times may vary depending on the individual’s needs. This training must be conducted in an area away from the learner’s normal work area and may occur one-on-one or in small groups. The student will also be required to complete tasks in their own time and submit work to the trainer.

Our workplace trainers integrate the learning requirements of the relevant qualification being studied with the learner’s daily duties and tasks. The CCG trainer will use a variety of techniques to introduce the learning topics. These techniques might include: discussion, demonstration, activities, role plays and simulations and are designed to establish the knowledge and skills that the learner will need to practice and develop before assessment.

Unique Student Identifier: If you're studying Nationally Recognised Training in Australia from 1 January 2015, you are required to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Your USI links to an online account that contains all your training records and results that you have completed from 1 January 2015 onwards. You will need to give your USI to Community College Gippsland when you enrol. Visit www.usi.gov.au for further instructions or CCG can provide you with a simple guide to assist if required.

VET FEE-HELP is available to assist eligible students studying higher level vocational education and training (VET) qualifications to pay their tuition fees. Higher level VET qualifications are at the diploma level and above. For a trial period, VET FEE-HELP will also be available for a limited number of certificate IV qualifications. Fee Structures

The Victorian Training Guarantee provides an entitlement to a government subsidised place in accredited vocational education and training for all courses, subject to eligibility guidelines. Students who are not eligible for government subsidised training may choose to undertake Full Fee/Fee for Service training. Full Fee or Fee for Service tuition relates to all students who are not eligible to attract a subsidised or funded training place through any Government Initiatives. If you are not eligible for the Victorian Training Guarantee and do not meet any other funding criteria, then you are still able to undertake your qualification with CCG on a full fee paying basis. Fee structures are made up of the following:

Tuition fees: are associated with the teaching and training elements of the course Material fees: cover the cost of course resources and consumables

Student tuition fees are indicative only and are subject to change given individual circumstances at the time of enrolment. For an individual quotation of fees payable, please contact our Customer Service Team.

Pre Training Review

Prior to commencing your training, a CCG representative will conduct a Pre Training Review with you. You will be required to complete an online skills review (takes approximately 30 minutes) and complete a document with a series of questions relating to general work and learning experiences. These processes provide CCG with an indication as to your literacy and numeracy levels and provide an idea of the level of study that would be best for you. If there are areas identified where you may need assistance or support, CCG has a range of Adult Literacy and Numeracy programs that could be of interest and available to you.

Skills Recognition

Skills recognition is a generic term that can be used to cover the ways in which an individual’s skills, experience, knowledge and qualifications can be formally acknowledged. These may include:

 Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)  Credit Transfer (CT)

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): Recognition of Prior Learning is a process where a person with work

experience or previous informal learning, can apply to have their skills and knowledge assessed, with the aim of getting a formal qualification. If you wish to apply for RPL you need to indicate this during this interview process.

Credit Transfer (CT) and National Recognition (NR): if you have previously completed an accredited course with

units that are identified as equivalent to the units in the course you are interested in you may be able to apply for Credit Transfer. CCG recognises the AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued to students by other Registered Training Organisation's (RTO’s) within Australia. The CCG Representative will inform you of what documentation you need to provide if you wish to apply.

COURSE FEES

Course fees are calculated per calendar year, from January to December. They are formulated dependent on the number of units and hours you are enrolling in and in accordance with your eligibility status. Additional fees may be charged for materials and amenities relating to your study. You will be provided with a Statement of Fees quote for your proposed training prior to enrolment.

Payment Plans are available for you if you require support to enrol into your course. This can be set up at the time of enrolment. VET FEE HELP is also available for Diploma level courses.

Students have two payment options, dependant on the total course fee that must be completed before the course commences to confirm their enrolment. Students must pay in full (total fee cost may incur invoice arrangement) or enter into the Payment Plan Direct Debit option, (excluding VET FEE-Help applicants) before any training can commence.

Option 1 - Payment in full:

Students who wish to pay their fees in full and are enrolling into a course where the total course fees are under $1000.00 must pay in full before the course commences to confirm their enrolment.

Students who wish to pay for the course in full and are enrolling into course where the total course fees are over $1000.00 will be required to pay $1000.00 upon enrolment and will be invoiced the remaining fees progressively across the duration of the training delivered. Invoicing for the remaining fees will occur at one third and two thirds of the course duration and at no more than $1500.00 in any one invoice.

Option 2 - Direct Debit:

Students must enter into the Payment Plan option as a Direct Debit agreement which requires a deposit of 10% of all course fees and materials. The Direct Debit incurs a $20.00 administration fee on top of the course fee (not applicable for Pre Accredited courses, Short Courses or VETiS courses).

Direct Debit for all courses attracts a minimum deposit of 10% of the course fee for the units selected for the calendar year and requires a minimum repayment of $30.00 per fortnight. All fees are required to be paid in full before completion of the course and certificates will not be issued until fees have been entirely paid.

Fee Refunds

If you withdraw from your course by written notice within 4 weeks of the course commencement date (using the Course Withdrawal form) you will receive a refund on your tuition fee, minus a $50.00 administration fee. A refund of any materials purchased from CCG will be dependent on the condition of the unused materials and is determined by the Program Leader of the course. The form must be submitted to the Customer Service Officer or Program Leader at any CCG campus location.

You are not entitled to any refund if you withdraw after the four week period.

If a course is cancelled by CCG at any time during the period of a person’s enrolment, CCG will refund the pro-rata portion of the tuition fees, amenity fees, and fees for materials that have not been used prior to the date of cancellation.

For Students enrolled in Diploma courses under VET FEE-HELP, the refunds are subject to VET FEE-HELP requirements and require separate information. This will be provided to you on request.

(6)

Training and Assessment

You will receive a Student Assessment Guide that outlines the tasks for each unit of competence that you will be assessed against. You are expected to attempt each assessment task outlined in the Student Assessment Guide. CCG will retain your original work submitted. Once the tasks have been attempted you will receive feedback from your Trainer and Assessor on the outcomes achieved.

Student Transition into New Qualifications

Accredited courses and qualifications are continually being updated and improved to meet current industry standards. If you are enrolled in a course or qualification that is superseded during the time of your enrolment you may be required to transition into the new qualification. This transition will be discussed with students on an individual basis.

Student Feedback Surveys

During your course you will be asked to complete an online student survey. It takes about 10 minutes and gives you the opportunity to tell CCG about your learning experience.
