Good morning St Cecilia Class and families! Welcome to a new week!
Thank you to everyone for all the hard work that we know you are doing. It has been lovely to read your emails and see the pictures of your work and we are very proud of all the effort that you are continuing to put in. Please remember that, even though we are both at school with groups of children, we do look at all the work you send and will respond to any emails sent to our class email address: [email protected] .
We are sure you are missing each other, as we are missing you so again please remember that if you have any news or pictures that you would like to share, we can put this on our Class News to help you all stay in contact. If you are having difficulties downloading any of the work or there is
anything that you would like to ask us about please do get in touch – we are here to help and support you in any way that we can.
If you have not yet been in touch, please do contact us on the class email as we would love to hear how you are getting on and to know that you are keeping well.
Keep learning and keep smiling! With best wishes

Remember to write a review of anything that you have read or if you feel like trying something different, create a quiz, puzzle or timeline following the instructions in this document. 3. Complete the two handwriting activities on our Class Page this week. You
can either print these off and use the guidelines on the pages, or copy the words into your Home Work Book making sure that you are always using beautifully joined handwriting .
4. Complete the English proof-reading task on our Class Page this week. Choose between the Easy, Tricky or Expert level depending on how confident you feel. Each task sheet is followed by the answers so you can mark your work when you have finished.

Book or Film Review Task – ongoing
Remember that as you finish a book, we would like you to write a
review that we can share with the rest of the class so they can see
what you have enjoyed.
A good review should include:
•
The title and the author (and the illustrator if there is one).
•
An overview of the story – enough to interest your reader but
without giving everything away!
•
An information box about the main characters.
•
Your comments on the strengths/weaknesses of the story and
anything that you particularly enjoyed.
•
Your recommendation – who do you think would particularly enjoy
the book and why?
Here are some other ideas for activities when you have finished a
book!
Design a new front cover for your book
•
Remember to include an eye-catching image as well as the title
and name of the author.
•
Extend this activity by writing a new blurb to grab the reader’s
attention.
Design a bookmark for your book
•
Remember to include the author’s name, the title of your book
and a short plot summary.
Make your own quiz for someone who has read the book
•
Remember to keep a record of the answers so that you can mark
the quiz just like William’s example on the next page.
Create a timeline to show what happens at the beginning, in the
middle and at the end
•
Your timeline should show the key events – what are the most
important parts of the story?
Create your own puzzle for the book
Extended Writing – A Diary Entry
A diary entry is a form of recount in which the writer explains what has happened to them.
Here is a checklist of the key features to use when you write a diary entry.
• Start with 'Dear Diary’.
• Describe the places where the events happened.
• Write in the past tense.
• Use pronouns like I, my and me to show that the events happened to you.
• Talk about how you were feeling or what you were thinking when each event
happened.
• Use interesting vocabulary.
Your Task:
Write a diary entry explaining how you spent your day in your Home Work Book. You could use some of the vocabulary below to help.
Try to write at least three paragraphs and plan your work carefully before writing, remembering to describe your thoughts, feelings and actions throughout the day.
