Education & Research

The Institute is an educational and research organization which is focused on

increasing the quality of mental health education and treatment in Colorado

The Institute is a community of psychoanalysts whose goals are to provide education

in psychoanalytic thinking and treatment techniques, to advance scholarship and

research, and to encourage application of psychoanalytic knowledge to related fields

of study

History & Governance

Psychoanalytic education has been offered in Denver since 1956

Until 1969 the Denver Training Center operated under the auspices of the Institute

for Psychoanalysis in Chicago

The Denver Institute for Psychoanalysis was granted provisional status by the

American Psychoanalytic Association in 1969 and was recognized as an Approved

Institute in 1972

The Institute is a nonprofit corporation for which the Faculty serves as the Board of

Trustees

The Denver Institute for Psychoanalysis is a 501(c)3 organization that relies

heavily on the voluntary faculty

Our faculty volunteers:

◦ hours each year teaching in our programs as well as the psychiatry residency program at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus

◦ hours sitting on committees

◦ hours of pro-bono work

◦ Donate over $600 each annually to help support the daily operations of the Institute

If your provider graduated from the psychiatry residency at UCHSC during

the past 50 years, he or she benefited from and uses our training

Our current needs

◦ Operational expenses

◦ Board training

◦ Funding for programs in research, treatment studies, and educational loans

◦ Funding for part-time staff

◦ Facility / Capital

Colorado Gives Day is an annual statewide movement to celebrate and

increase philanthropy in Colorado through online giving. For the sixth year,

Community First Foundation and FirstBank are partnering to present

Colorado Gives Day on Tuesday, December 8, 2015. Donations are accepted

through ColoradoGives.org

◦ Colorado Gives Day is powered by ColoradoGives.org, a year-round website featuring more than 1,700 nonprofits. ColoradoGives.org encourages charitable giving by providing

comprehensive, objective and up-to-date information about Colorado nonprofits and an easy way to support them online.

◦ Colorado Gives Day features a $1 Million Incentive Fund, one of the largest gives-day incentive funds in the country.

◦ Every nonprofit receiving a donation on Colorado Gives Day receives a portion of the incentive fund, which increases the value of every dollar donated.*

◦ Colorado Gives Day. It’s more than just a day. It’s a movement that inspires and unites thousands of donors to support their favorite causes online through ColoradoGives.org.
