Nordic Folkboat Gold Cup

Helsinki, Finland, July 24-30, 2016

The event is organized by the Helsingfors Segelklubb in

co-operation with the Nordic Folkboat International Association and the

Finnish Folkboat Association

2.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing. 2.2 The present Gold Cup rules will apply.

2.3 No national prescriptions will apply. 3. ADVERTISING

Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority 4. ELIGIBILITY

4.1 The Gold Cup 2016 is open to all boats having a valid Nordic Folkboat Measurement Certificate according to class rule 1.70.

4.2 Every helmsman in the Gold Cup 2016 must be an up to date member of the Yacht Club he represents and of a National Folkboat Association affiliated with the Nordic Folkboat

International Association.

4.3 The Measurement Certificate, and a copy of valid insurance certificate must be produced at the on-site registration.

4.4 Eligible boats may enter by completing the online entry form on together with the required fee for the regatta before the closing date for entries, which is 7 July 2016. 4.5 Late entries will be accepted between 8 and 18 July 2016 with an additional fee of, see instruction 5.2.

4.6 No entry is complete until it has been accepted by the Organizing Authority and a boat is will not be registered before the regatta fee is paid in full.

4.7 Each participating boat shall be successfully registered and measured before the first warning signal in the event.

The required fees are as follows: 5.1 Entry fee is 250€.

5.2 Late entry fee is 250€+125€. 6. SCHEDULE

6.1 Eight (8) races are scheduled.

6.2 Racing dates will be 26-30.7 2016, one to two races per day are planned. 24.7 Sunday 12.00-20.00 Registration and measurement.

25.7 Monday 10.00-18.00 Registration and measurement. 19.00 Opening ceremony.

26.7 Tuesday The scheduled time of the first warning signal for each day is 10.55. The warning signal for the second race will be immediately after the first race.

30.7 Saturday On the last scheduled day of racing there will be no warning signal after 13.55

7.1 Boats and equipment may be checked at any time during the Gold Cup 2016. 8. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The Sailing Instructions will be available at the regatta office 12.00-20.00 on Sunday July 24 and on Monday July 25 10.00-18.00. The SI:s can also be downloaded from the website from 24.7, 12.00->


The regatta harbour is at the address mentioned in SI 1. and marked HSK on the chart in appendix 1. The racing area will be on the waters south of Helsinki. There will be

approximately 4 to 5 nautical miles from the harbour to the racing area. Race area E. See appendices 1 and 2


The course will be a windward-leeward course. 11. SCORING

13.1 Four (4) races are required to be completed to constitute the Gold Cup 2016.

13.2 (a) When fewer than 4 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores. (b) When from 5 to 8 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.


12.1 Support boats, team leaders, coaches and other support personnel shall be registered at the Race Office within the registration time (see schedule in instruction 6.).

12.2 Support boats shall display their national flag or a white flag with their national letters as described in the rules, appendix G. The minimum size of the flags is shall be no less than 40 cm x 50 cm. The flags shall be clearly visible on both sides of the boats.


Boats shall be kept in their assigned places in the harbour of HSK. 14. HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONS

Boats shall not be hauled out during the regatta except with and according to the terms of a prior written permission of the race committee.


Underwater breathing apparatus and plastic pools or their equivalent shall not be used around keelboats between the preparatory signal of the first race and the end I of the regatta.


Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile

telephones. 17. PRIZES

17.1 The Gold Cup will be awarded to the winning boat's yacht club in accordance with the present Gold Cup rules.

17.2 Other prizes will be awarded. 18. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.



Each participating boat shall be insured with a valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of 500 000 euros per event or the equivalent.


By participating in this event, competitors automatically grant to the organizing authority and the event sponsors the right, in perpetuity, to make, use, and show, at their discretion, any photography, audio and video recordings, and other reproductions of them made at the venue or on the water from the time of their arrival at the venue, until their final departure, without compensation.
