I.INTRODUCTION

The study of English language in this age of globalization is essential. The English language is the most important

language of communication between different countries. In India, people of different states have their own

language. The English Language has come us as a connecting link among various states of India.

U.N. has recognized five languages as its official languages and of them, English takes the first position because of

its background, the international acclaim of easy access to the people. If we go back to historical facts, we see that

half of the globe was under the British imperialism. Those countries coming directly under British rule had by

necessity or under compulsion to learn English and the rest either being influenced by the English culture or to keep

pace with modern trend had but to opt for learning it.

French, German, Greek and definitely Sanskrit are not inferior to English, yet the fact is, English had stood the test

of time. From the pragmatic point of view, it should receive a great boost. Inflict, English serves as a window to the

world. It is known to all that the legacy of English language has left an indelible imprint on the Indian psyche.

Hence we can't deal with English just as a foreign language. Secondly, the entire spectrum of education and

philosophy, science and technology can be better understood through this language.

The common practice all over the world in the modern age is to learn the English language to facilitate easy

understanding political, social, cultural and religious issues because this language is easier than French, German,

Greek, and Sanskrit. It is with the help of this language that we are gaining knowledge of modern science and

technology and are keeping ourselves in touch with the most progressive ideas and current thoughts.

A B S T R A C T

The Combined processes where an educator assesses learning needs, establishes specific learning objectives, develops teaching and learning strategies, implements plan of work and evaluates the outcomes of the instruction are said to teaching-learning process and it can be best achieved if structures of English will be better utilized. It can also be said as the real action time or period of imparting knowledge, skills, and attitude to adult learners by the adult facilitator or through the electronic media. Here we are going to see the process with the help of a triangle system which comprises the three sides as Presentation, Practice, and Application, by which the students can be made skilled. Triangle presents the right position in shaping the understanding of the learners. Learners are the central focus of this process to which the entire concentration is centered over. Basically, the learner struggles in learning a new language other than what he knows. Yes, it is agreed that it is not much easier as much as their mother tongue. Learners must be exercise with this triangle for the base of the English.

(2)

English has emerged as the most important global language. It is a wrong view to hold that it is a language of the

British alone. English has evolved be a language of science and technology. Majority of all important books for

higher studies are written in English. The Indians must not keep their eyes closed in this adventurous period of

globalization.

English has occupied an important place in our life and our country. It is the language that continues to dominate the

national scene. It is taught compulsorily in most of the States in the country although the class from which its

teaching is started differs from states to states. But it is generally seen that every language has minimum three

components such as Sound, Structures, and Vocabulary. But out of these three, the most vital part is a structure

which really offers the certain meaning with the correct grammatical knowledge as well as structural patterns.

II. METHOD OF TEACHING: TRIANGLE

Comprehensively speaking, there are basically three steps that have been adopted in the teaching of English. It is

based on three factors:

(i) Presentation (ii) Practice and (iii) Application

Let's analyze these steps to show that what extent they are really adding to the growth of learning. In a teaching

process, the learners somehow know the prior knowledge of the structure on which the new structure is built upon.

For, before teaching the structure subject-verb-object–extension, the teacher should see that the learners know the

structure subject-verb-object. This is what we do all the testing of previous knowledge. The presentation of the

structure is basically aimed at making the learners understand the lexical as well as the grammatical meaning of a

structure. This is made with the help of meaningful situations which may be real or artificial. By virtue of these

meaningful situations we mean the occasions in real life demanding the use of specified structures, sentence

patterns and the vocabulary.

Teaching with these three methods needs certain situations. Children learn a language only through different

situations happened around them. Therefore, it is desirable and experimented that to teach certain language the

teacher ought to create some purposeful situations.

A situation can be made through two ways that are visually as well as verbally. The visual situation can be shown

by playing movies or through any direct action by the teacher. Some, more visual examples are the use of objects,

pictures, charts, models, drawing and sketching on the blackboard, and also performing actions as well as through

the PowerPoint Presentation, etc.

The verbal situation can be best made by the teachers with the help of words. At the early stages of teaching, the

teacher of English should make use of the actual objects and also possible to convey the learners. For example to

(3)

Therefore, here the teacher also should develop the art of drawing pictures and maps on the blackboard. They

should also develop the ability to show different actions before students.

It is not only through the exhibition of certain pictures or diagrams the teacher enables himself to convey the sense

of the words to the learners but also he has to physically make a show off different gestures and actions before the

learners. Suppose the teacher is teaching present progressive tense; he has to do the action by saying, "I am

walking" or "I am writing" etc. Some pictures may be used to supply situations which are outside the classroom.

In case of learning Present Simple Tense, the teacher should have finished teaching simple past and simple future.

So the teacher can make the situations as given below:

He came to study hour yesterday

He came to study hour today

He will come to study hour tomorrow.

He comes to study an hour every day.

Even, after speaking all such types of examples, a teacher can also deliver the sense of the structure through the

help of mother tongue. By the usage of such bilingual method in teaching it can be of a great help to the learners.

III. SOME SUGGESTIONS

A teacher should speak clearly and audibly using the stress and intonation.

The presentation should be clear to the learners.

The presentation should be quick.

The presentation should not take more than one-fifth of the period

When it comes to presented information, people tend to be very slow at taking it in. So use simple, clear language.

Break down what you are saying in simple sentences. Tell them what you're going to say, say it, then remind them

what you said.

Look at the audience, not the slides. This is another classic mistake made by inexperienced, or nervous presenters.

Don’t take your cue from the slides; keep your attention on the audience and take your cue from your note cards.

This looks very professional.

Your introduction should briefly explain who you are (in the fictional scenario) and what your presentation will

cover. Reiterate anchor phrases on each slide to emphasize what you're talking about. For example, if you’re talking about projected sales, title your slide “Sales Projection” and open with something like “the projected sales are increasing because…” Then end that slide with something like “…which is why we see these projected sales”.

Think about how you want to take questions. Are you the sort of person who gets thrown by interjections? If you

think you can handle questions as you go along, this will impress the assessors. Whatever you decide, tell your

audience at the start whether you’d prefer to take questions at the end or as you go through.

This level of presentation, practice to plays an important role in the field of teaching. Presentation makes clear the

(4)

establishing the permanent place of the structure in the mind if a learner. Really, it is seen widely that this stage is

not being given the due importance as well as attention as a result; the learner's command over the language

becomes weak.

In this context, it is apt to quote to the statement that "The more the practice, better the command of the language.

The learning is over learning"

A teacher should make the students doing the drills such as an oral drill, repetition drill, substitution drill,

transformation drill, completion drill etc.

A teacher should make the students reading rigorously again and again. A teacher should make the students writing

the portion that they read or understood from the teacher.

A teacher should teach always some new words to the learners.

Apart from learning through the presentation and practice, there is another important stage is the application.

Learning is not enough only through the practice and presentation.

The learner should know how to use it in new situations. While drilling makes the response automatic, the

application helps the learners in framing sentences of the same pattern in new situations. But it is said that this stage

of the structure is neglected by a majority of teachers. At this stage, nearly all the speaking is done by the students.

A teacher should show some new objects and actions.

A teacher should perform some actions before the learners.

A teacher should draw matchstick figures on the blackboard.

A teacher should verbalize context wise.

However, in our day to day life, it is a must for us that we need our skills be sharper as well as finer. Listening and

reading are passive skills whereas the speaking and the writing are active skills. The Knowledge of the language

makes us know the meaning of isolated words or sentences or the rules of grammar. Talking about the language does

not mean knowing the language and using it. If we consider language as speech, then knowing a language means to

use its grammatical patterns is called proper knowing language.

IV. IMPORTANCE OF GRAMMAR

That we can better skills of language only with its grammatical savvy otherwise learning language becomes

immature on the surface of any theoretical knowledge. This ideology is very finely matched with the concept of

importance with the idea laid by Farjana, (2014) "In language teaching, the most important aspect is grammar

teaching. It is true that without the knowledge of grammar anybody can communicate in a foreign language. It will

be only for the sake of communication. But the real fact is that without the knowledge of grammar nobody can learn

and use a foreign language properly. Without the grammatical knowledge, will not be able to understand the

difference between the appropriate use of English and wrong use of English. The knowledge of grammar enables

(5)

knowledge helps the students not only to write proper English but also enables them to produce correct

English while speaking.

V. CONCLUSION

However, the English Language should not be forced upon all students in all stages of education. It has been wisely

given up as the medium of teaching at the secondary stage. But at the higher levels i.e. in the university level,

English cannot be replaced by any Indian language.

Anyway, there is no reason why the English Language should be completely abolished from the study. English is

now not the monopoly of English people and it can be studied for our own advantage. So it is wise to keep it as a

second important language for the students of India and regional languages should be developed. But English ought

to be taught from the primary level so that the pupils may be equipped with the power of communication at the

international level.

To conclude, in simple words we can say that, by adopting the above triangle methods the whole teaching-learning

process can be best achieved. Therefore, the base of be better the process of presentation, practice, and make the

students skilled. In India, where the much acquainted with above they go for a specific subject in a specific

context. As a result, our students get themselves benefited from the contents of their curriculum of learning the

English language. In the last, don't think, just do it.

It is very clear that "when we really adopt the triangle system and follow the same is the right way, then English

is not at all going to be a threat in teaching learning process", it can be learned by step by step practice.
