axisReader

To check out ebooks

The axisReader app is your virtual circulation desk allowing you to browse, discover and checkout Axis 360 ebooks at your library. The axisReader app also allows you to download and read EPUB or PDF formatted ebooks directly in the app.

Visit the Google Play Store, search for axisReader to download and Install the app. Authorize with your Adobe ID.

In your axisReader app, tap Find a Library at the bottom of the screen and browse to locate your library.

• Tap the plus sign on the left to save your library to the My Libraries list.

• Tap your library’s name to view the Axis 360 collection.

Read EPUB & PDF eBooks with axisReader

Browse your library’s collection to find and checkout ebooks.

• Tap a cover and select a download format (EPUB or PDF). Tap Checkout Now.

• Enter your Library Card ID and PIN (if a PIN is required by your library).

A confirmation message will appear after your successful checkout.

• Tap Download and choose Read Now to open and read your EPUB or PDF ebook right in the axisReader app.

Including Samsung devices, Nook HD and HD+, Google tablets, and other Android-based devices.

Blio

To read ebooks in Blio format

Visit the Google Play Store, search for Blio and download the app. Create your account with an email and password.

Step 1

Open your axisReaderapp.

• Tap on your library in the My Libraries list.

• Tap your library’s name to browse the collection.

Step 2

Find the Blio title you would like to check out.

• Tap the title, select Blio and choose Checkout Now.

• Enter your Blio username and password.

(Your credentials will be saved after the first log in.) Step 3

• Open your Blio app.

• Tap Download.

• Tap the title cover to begin reading.

Adobe Digital Editions: To check out ebooks and transfer to eReaders

Adobe Digital Editions allows you to download and read EPUB or PDF formatted ebooks on your computer or transfer them to your eReader device via a USB cable.

To download Adobe Digital Editions, visit http://www.adobe.com/products/digital-editions.html. Click the “Download now” link on the right side of the page. Once you have completed the download, you can check out a title.

Step 1

Visit http://ereadil.axis360.baker-taylor.com.

• Select your library in the My Libraries list.

• Click “Select Library” to browse the collection.

Step 4

The title will now open in Adobe Digital Editions.

• To read the book on your computer, use the scroll bar at the bottom to navigate to the next page.

• To read the book on your eReader device, connect your device to your computer with a USB cable.

• Click on the Library button in the top left corner then hold and drag the title to the left hand side of the screen to your device icon.

• A green plus sign will appear. Release the title and it will be transferred to your device.

• Eject your device from your computer and the title should now be available to read on your device.

Step 2

Find the EPUB/PDF title you would like to check out.

• Select the title, select EPUB/PDF and choose Checkout Now.

Step 3

• Click Download and then Open With Adobe Digital Editions.

Please note, for the Sony eReader, you will follow a similar process using Reader for PC which should download when you connect your Sony eReader to your computer.

Axis 360 eBooks with eReader Devices or a Computer

Including the laptops and desktops, the original Nook, Nook Color, Kobo, and other e-book only devices

Blio

To read ebooks in Blio format

Visit http://www.meetblio.com. Click on the Free Download button. Once you have downloaded Blio, open the link and create your account with an email and password.

Step 1

Visit http://ereadil.axis360.baker-taylor.com.

• Select your library in the My Libraries list.

• Click “Select Library” to browse the collection.

Step 2

• Select the title, select Blio and choose Checkout Now.

(Your credentials will be saved after the first log in.) Step 3

• Open Blio on your computer.

• Your book should appear automatically. If it doesn’t, click the Refresh button next to the Sort box. Then click the cover to begin the download.

• Once the book has downloaded, click on the title cover to begin reading.

To read ebooks in Blio format

Visit the Apple App Store, search for Blio and download the app. You will create your Blio login during your first checkout in the axisReaderapp.

Step 1

Open your axisReaderapp.

Step 2

• At the Blio login screen tap Create New Blio account.

• Enter your email and password.

(Your credentials will be saved after the first log in.)

• Tap Login to Blio Account.

Step 3

• Open your Blio app. Tap Get Books in the bottom left of the screen.

• Tap the arrow icon to the right of your title to download and then tap Done.

To begin installation on your Kindle Fire: Go to Settings > Device and turn ON

• In the address bar type http://apps.axis360.org/axisReader. If your download does not start automatically, tap OK.

• In the upper left corner tap the number that appears next to My Kindle. Once the download is complete, tap to install.

Early Return for ebooks from Axis 360 (for iOS & Android devices)

Axis 360 ebooks checked out from your library, in either the ePub or PDF format are eligible for an Early Return.

ePub and PDF ebooks are read using the axisReader app. (This excludes all Blio format ebooks.)

An Early Return of an ebook can be done any time prior to the actual ebook expiration date.

Open the axisReader on your device; the axisReader will open to the Bookshelf.

Click on the blue arrow.

Scroll to the bottom of the following page and click on Return Item.

Lastly, click on Return.

The Axis ebook will be removed from your Bookshelf and the ebook will be returned to the library’s collection for another patron to access.

Early Return Now Available for Blio

We are excited to announce that the early return functionality that your patrons have enjoyed when using EPUB, PDF and Acoustik formats is now also available for Blio!

Whether patrons enjoy a Blio ebook on an iOS, Android, or Windows/PC device, they now have the ability to return a title at any time during the loan period. Returning a Blio ebook before the end of library lending period is easy. Simple steps for early return by platform are shown below.

Windows PCs and Laptops

For Windows/PC devices, in your Blio library, mouse over the title you would like to return early. An INFO button will appear, click on the button to open the title’s options. Tap RETURN ITEM, you will be asked “Are you sure you want to return ‘Title’. This ebook will no longer be available on any of your devices. Would you like to proceed?” Click YES to return the title to your library’s collection and to reduce the number of titles you have checked out to your account.

Apple iOS

For Apple iOS devices, tap the RETURN button on the title list in Blio. Once the RETURN

button is selected, you will be notified that “If you return this book to the library, it will no

longer be available to download. Would you like to proceed?” Click OK to return the title to

your library’s collection and to reduce the number of titles you have checked out to your

account.

Android Devices

For Android devices, hard press / hold your finger on the title so that the Action Menu will appear. Select RETURN BOOK. You will be asked “Are you sure you want to return this book?” Click YES to return the title to your library’s collection and to reduce the number of titles you have checked out to your account.
