TAKE HEART IN YOUR GRIEF 6:30-8:00pm Sundays at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church.
FOOD PANTRY is looking for donations of Peanut Butter, Jelly, Hamburger Helper & Syrup. Thank you
for your continued donations to this mission.
You are what you eat, so the saying goes. No wonder eating healthier and losing weight are at the top of most people’s New Year’s resolutions.
Today what we are talking about is the Care and Feeding of the Healthy Soul. Jesus knew, “Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). Jesus taught his disciples that the Word of God produces life and health in our lives (Matthew 13:23). You need to feed on God’s Word. It’s a matter of your soul’s health. First God’s part, what the Bible can do in our lives. This explains why the Bible is so important for a healthy soul. According to the text, the Word of God benefits us it makes us
“wise unto salvation.” God’s Word contains the truth about life and death, sin and salvation, heaven and hell. The Word converts. It convinces. It convicts. It corrects. It offers one more benefit. It completes. Our text says, “All Scripture is useful for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” God’s Word equips us for service.
Questions:
1. What is food for the soul?
2. What effect does this food have?
3. What does this food equip us for?

We are the North Dakota District ~
I will be doing a little traveling this week. First, I lead chapel at Grace Lutheran School on Wednesday. Then I head to Milwaukee, WI for the regional District President’s annual meeting. We study God’s Word together, study relevant topics, share the names of pastors desiring a call, and seek the wisdom of each other in dealing with ecclesiastical matters.

For the 2016 mission trip, St. Andrew Mission Society received generous donations of quilts from many churches across N. & S. Dakota to deliver on the mission trip to Mexico. Families from San Rafael, Mexico were very grateful for the quilts sent by Zion’s LWML. Very young children received baby quilts, mothers & grandmothers were happy to pose for a proud picture… the grandmother above had her hands full, so the volunteers wrapped the quilt around her - she was extremely thankful...
