Delivery

We supply a range of products – from power cables to 800kVA UPS (uninterruptible power supply). Our customers rely on our fast order and delivery service. We offer several delivery options for online orders, from 2-3 business days to same day delivery during the hours of 6am to 9pm, plus Saturday mornings and up to 4am on Sunday morning.

Our most popular items are ex-stock, including out-of-the-box UPS up to 3kVA. We also supply and deliver a range of products up to 800kVA UPS and generators. Products can be easily ordered online, over the phone and delivered quickly.

Delivery of large-scale equipment (such as UPS and generators) demands care, attention and skill. Such items may be robust but they require careful handling and transportation to ensure they arrive on-site, in perfect condition and at the right time. Our experience and logistics ensure all such units arrive as expected.

Delivery Options for larger items:

Standard Boxed:kerb-side delivery to your door using a standard courier service. Single boxes are classed as within a one person-lift limit.

Standard Palletised:as above but with multiple boxes secured to Euro Pallets (possibly banded and shrink-wrapped). The delivery vehicle may be larger and you may be required to provide off-loading facilities (fork lift) to remove the pallets from the vehicle unless a vehicle with a tail-lift is available or requested in advance.

Delivery, Siting and Positioning:this is a premium service whereby the Critical Power Supplies logistics team deliver the goods to your chosen delivery point. Pallets and packaging can be removed and recycled as part of this service.

Installation

The way equipment is installed has a huge bearing on its reliability, operation, how long it will last, lifetime costs and its impact on upstream equipment.

Whether it’s low-voltage switchgear or output UPS and metering, we have the knowledge, expertise and accreditation to get it right so that your power protection installation will offer the highest levels of availability (appropriate to your application), reliability and optimised performance. We will also ensure the electrical installation follows recognised (and applicable) standards and procedures, that it conforms to regulations and that its impact on downstream equipment is minimised.

All of our installations receive a certification of works and date carried out report, clients also receive a comprehensive installation drawing and relevant manuals in hard and soft copy.

Commissioning

Commissioning is a specialist service that ensures newly installed equipment is powered up and operating correctly, as it should, and to the manufacturer’s exact specifications. Most power protection manufacturers insist that only their service engineers (or approved service partners like us) provide this service in order to guard against warranty infringements. It also has to be done by a qualified electrical contractor in order to meet regulations. Within our commissioning service, our engineers inspect the equipment (and all accessories supplied); install and connect the battery set (if applicable); safety check; configure and set up the UPS (in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications and client’s exact requirements); test any bypass equipment; perform UPS discharge test (if applicable); offer onsite training and handover to the client.

Maintenance

We offer managed maintenance plans for a wide variety of requirements, which are tailored to meet criticality demands at three levels (see page 3

for more details). We can also work

within a bespoke structured package for customers whose needs

knowledge can be expensive!

Whether it’s a full or partial UPS upgrade, in-warranty or out-of-warranty, we can offer totally impartial advice and recommend the right products to meet your requirements. We can do this because we are manufacturer-independent and accredited to supply and support products and equipment from many of the leading providers in the market today.

Our dedicated upgrade service means you only have to deal with one supplier for all your needs. We will work with you to fully understand your aims and suggest products and solutions to fit. This saves you time that you would otherwise spend scouting round all the different manufacturers yourself.

Once you are happy to go ahead, we can supply, install and commission the products alongside tailoring ongoing plans (warranty, maintenance and service) that will ensure your upgrade returns the value you expect.

Repair

Sometimes things are not worth repairing, but sometimes they are. The problem is, you need to know this before you rip out and replace existing equipment or before you suffer hours of downtime and spend money on expensive reparations.

At Critical Power Supplies, our repair service ensures you suffer only minimal downtime (or none at all) when something breaks down. Depending upon the topology of your installation (whether you have built-in redundancy or a bypass), we can remove the broken down equipment from site, take it to our UK centre where we diagnose the problem and give you all the information you need to decide whether it will be worth repairing or not. We can then arrange for the repair to be carried out and the equipment be delivered back to site, tested and commissioned.

want to be sure that when it does, its removal does not cause problems for you – or the environment. Whether it’s reached the end of its working life or it is part of a facility-wide decommissioning project, decommissioning requires time and expertise from specialists who understand how to decommission equipment so that it does not cause problems for people, other equipment onsite or elsewhere.

There are many regulations to follow in terms of dismantling, disposing of and recycling electrical equipment and they must be followed stringently. We are accredited, approved and certified to decommission electrical equipment and we offer this as a service associated with power protection, energy management and cooling systems. We project manage the process and help you to liquidate assets (if applicable) against the cost of new equipment or to offset the cost of your demolition / decommission.

Maintenance should be routine and regular. Its purpose is to keep equipment in the best possible condition, prolong its working life (to achieve maximum payback) and prevent problems before they result in a complete breakdown. Regular maintenance will also avoid unnecessary downtime and save time and costs.

Critical power protection systems contain consumable parts such as batteries, fans, filters, capacitors and so on, that will wear out over time and will need to be replaced. Higher level maintenance plans can cover this so that customers do not have to worry about scheduling checks or sourcing spares last minute.

The Key to Maintenance –

make it routine and regular

On-site services and maintenance are what we specialise in – from a single repair to 24/7 third-party management of the support contract you have with manufacturers and suppliers.

There are two types of Service and Maintenance cover in the critical power business: proactive (preventative maintenance) and reactive (emergency call out). We can provide a managed service for both.

We work with a nationwide network (including Northern Ireland) of service engineers who are factory-trained, qualified and accredited to provide expert and certified repair, maintenance and support for the leading brands in our business. We can help you construct and/or acquire a maintenance plan outlined specifically for your installation, budget and response time requirements. We can also offer guaranteed response times of 4, 8 or 12 working-hours and out of hours if needed.

Preventative Maintenance plans include:

services will ensure they never let you down.

Access to our round-the-clock technical support to help you deal with alarm conditions, questions regarding operation and system design.

Environmental checks to ensure your system is not being compromised by avoidable hazards such as dampness, chemical leakage, temperature and so on. An annual preventative maintenance visit.

Visual inspection where we check the condition of equipment, including dust, dirt, signs of wear and tear, battery leakage, cables, connectors, plugs and so on. Electrical and mechanical testing of all functionality. We will also check the history of the equipment and compare our findings to spot any anomalies that should be flagged up.

Bypass and batteries checked and tested.

We will also utilise diagnostic software and carry out further in-depth testing. And we will ensure your software is up-to-date and current.

You will be provided with a full report of our findings, which will record all measurements and data and highlight any potential problems, action points and recommendations for further investigation.

Emergency Call out plans include:

Access to a nationwide (the whole of the UK including Northern Ireland) team of specialist engineers and a rapid onsite response in accordance with the service level you have chosen.

Both of the above can also include 24/7 remote monitoring from our dedicated service centre to enable immediate notification of alarm conditions, problems, incident diagnostics and despatch of a certified service engineer to site when required.

SMS: we can also arrange for text alerts to be sent to up to five mobile phone numbers of your choice, including our own 24/7 service number so that we can immediately provide assistance.

Our service and pricing is also convenient; it means you do not have to raise paperwork in an emergency.

It also means you are not waiting around for visits to be scheduled or for parts to turn up.

Battery maintenance

UPS batteries are the primary consumable within a power protection system. Generators have starter batteries too and all batteries in a system need to be checked and maintained in peak condition. One failed battery could bring down a whole UPS battery string.

We provide battery maintenance as a stand-alone service or as part of a preventative maintenance solution. We also provide battery testing, replacement and disposal.

BACS Battery Monitoring

We offer the BACS (Battery Analysis and Care System) from Hamburg-based GENEREX because it is able to monitor UPS batteries at an individual cell level, something that has not been possible in the past. Historically, monitoring of UPS battery charge voltage was only possible across whole strings and if it was shown to be weak, it required an engineer and many man-hours of analysing each battery to find the one (or more) that were about to fail. Battery failure has been one of the primary causes of UPS breakdown in the past. With BACS Battery Monitoring, that is no longer the case.

Fixed cost maintenance pricing

Our fixed cost maintenance pricing offers peace of mind for customers who can rely on the fact that the systems they rely on are being kept in top condition and that they know exactly how much it is costing each month.

There are no hidden surprises or shocking repair bills.

Peace of mind: something that

you rely on is being looked after.

Diverse Field Estate

Management

There are few customer sites, where power protection plays a critical role, that are not comprised of equipment and solutions from many different suppliers. Quite often, managing relationships with these various sources can become fraught with difficulty - and something of a fulltime job.

At Critical Power Supplies, we have geared ourselves up to offer such a service on behalf of customers. We deal with these suppliers on a daily basis so Diversified Field Estate Management is a core service and it saves our

customers a great deal of time, effort and headaches. We act as a central hub, through which communication can be received, acknowledged and actioned thus offering a tidy solution for the end customer.

(7)

two-way communication. This means alerts (such as alarms and messages) can be received and immediately responded to by engineers working remotely. The system also allows them to interrogate for further details and/or initiate a course of action, such as a controlled shutdown of connected loads or a switch to bypass supplies should either become necessary.

At Critical Power Supplies, we offer Remote Monitoring equipment and we offer it as part of our maintenance service.

Crash kits Onsite

When something goes wrong, it’s good to know that what you need is close to hand. UPS crash kits are held within our supply chain and can be accessed quickly through our network of specialist engineers as part or our managed maintenance service.

They can also be purchased from us and held onsite so that they are even closer to hand. Combined with our ability to call up locally available engineers quickly on behalf of customers, our Crash Kits Onsite makes for a valuable service.

Remote Fault Logging System

If a fault occurs within your power protection system, you need to be sure that the techniques and equipment you use to monitor it are set up to log and store all applicable and relevant data for analysis and reporting.

Remote Fault Logging is part of our Remote Monitoring service.

Call Centre Fault Call Logging and

Progress Updates

This, again, is critical for anyone tasked with managing and operating power protection and UPS systems. You need to be sure that communications are getting through (whether they come directly from you, your representative, or your UPS system’s monitoring software). You need to be sure they are being dealt with and that someone or something is keeping on top of it throughout the process – all the way from initial call right up to when the problem is solved.

Our systems ensure an end-to-end logging, tracking and progress update service.

Maintenance reports about your UPS and batteries. The latest update reports about your system. Access to electronic worksheets.

Your specific contract and account details. Quote and order details, including order history. Dates for scheduled visits and contract renewals (the system will also send a message to alert you to imminent renewal dates). You can send service visit requests by email.

These days, the quickest way to access the information you need and the latest updates about system maintenance is through the Internet. We have developed a user-friendly and yet inclusive online portal for customers, giving them access to:
