application process, accommodation, finance, wellbeing, or any other aspect of the learning and student experience at Newcastle, our expert staff will be on hand to advise too.
So, sit back and relax; your journey to university is about to begin.
TOP TIP!
Make sure you fill your Open Day swag bag with our useful resources – from eBooks to subject guides and videos of talks, tours and taster sessions.
Hit the download button and enjoy later.
USING OUR
VIRTUAL PLATFORM
How do I log in?
Go to virtual-event-ncl.vfairs.com and login using the details you received via email when you booked to attend. We’ll also send you a reminder of the login details before the event.
How much time will I have on the site?
Our Virtual Open Days will run from 10am-2pm on Saturday 25 September and Saturday 9 October, so there’s plenty of time to explore our event.
If you are finding it hard to fit everything in - we’d love to see you on both days.
Your login details will still be valid after the Open Days. You’ll be able to access our platform and resources, you just won’t be able to chat live to our staff.
What will I see when I log in?
You’ll enter our virtual lobby, where you’ll see options to visit our:
• Welcome desk
• Auditorium
• Student Hub
• Exhibit halls for our three faculties: Medical Sciences;
Humanities and Social Sciences; Science, Agriculture and Engineering
TOP TIP!
Before the event starts, find a comfortable, quiet space, with a good WiFi connection.
How do I navigate around the event?
From the lobby, click on the name of the virtual space you want to visit:
• to join a live session, go to the Auditorium
• for information about our degrees, explore our videos and digital subject content in our three faculty exhibit halls
• for details of our student services, including expert advice on admissions, accommodation, careers, finance, wellbeing support and much more, go to the virtual booths in our Student Hub
• for advice about the event or how to use our platform, go to the Welcome desk
To find a particular booth in one of our virtual halls, click through the exhibitors’ index, or scroll to the booth you want to visit. The menu bar at the top of your screen also allows you to navigate across all virtual spaces in the event.
Our platform has been designed to use on a PC, tablet and mobile so you can visit our Open Day wherever you are.
To get the best experience, we recommend viewing on a big screen if possible.
How can I ‘speak’ to staff and students?
Our staff will be available via live chat in our Welcome desk and Student Hub booths. If you want more information about our degrees, join a live subject talk led by our
staff and students.
TOP TIP!
Don’t miss a thing – make a list of the booths you want to visit and the live sessions you’re interested in.
TOP TIP!
Write down your questions before the event, that way you won’t forget them.
What if I can’t find the booth or session I’m looking for?
Go to the chat room at our Welcome desk and a member of staff will be happy to help you.
I’ve missed a live session, what can I do?
Our live sessions are running on two dates, hopefully you’ll have a chance to join us for one of them. Don’t forget we have recorded content for you to watch in our booths after the events too.
Where can I find resources and how do I download them?
Our booths feature videos and resources you can view straight away or add to your swag bag for later.
When you’re ready to download your swag bag, select the tab in the main menu bar, highlight the resources you want to keep and email them to yourself.
The event has started, but I can’t log in, what should I do?
If you’re having difficulty accessing our event, contact us via email at open.day@ncl.ac.uk
Where can I get more help to use the platform?
We’ve created a video to illustrate how you can use our platform; just follow the link to find out more.
TOP TIP!
Your login details will still be valid after both Open Days. You’ll be able to access our platform and resources, you just won’t be able to chat live to our staff and students.

Given the changing nature of the Covid-19 pandemic, the commitments outlined are subject to guidelines that may be in place from time to time.
