Introduction
This document contains the release notes for Cyberoam NetGenie Home (1000088-20110902-NG11EH) and SOHO (200041B-20110902-NG11EO) appliances.
This release mainly includes features and enhancements to improve quality, reliability, and performance.
Features
1. Diagnostics
NetGenie introduces diagnostic tools to check health of the appliance. Diagnostic tools can be used to identify appliance related problems and aid the administrator to take corrective action.
The diagnostic tools are: Ping
Used to
• Ensure if the host computer is reachable or not Check the time lag for the round trip for the message
• Get the IP address of a domain name • Check for packet loss
Traceroute Use Traceroute to
• Display the route (path) and measure the transit delays / loss of packets across an Internet Protocol (IP) network.
Name Lookup
Use to query the Domain Name Service for information about domain names and IP addresses.
To use NetGenie diagnostic tools go to Network Settings → Diagnostics page
2. HTTPS based Parental Control
From this version onwards, NetGenie supports HTTPS based parental control. So it can provide access control for all HTTPS based sites.
To apply HTTPS based parental controls the administrator needs to enable HTTPS Scanning from Security Status section of System → Overview page.
3. Safe Search Enforcement
NetGenie incorporates Safe Search Enforcement for yahoo, google, bing, youtube, metacafe and altavista. Safe search enforcement is used to block objectionable content to appear in search results.
4. Internet Usage Meter
NetGenie introduces an Internet Usage meter which keeps track of total Internet usage (data transfer) and intimates the users when Internet usage reaches close to the maximum allowed limit.
When the amount of data transfer reaches to 90% of allowed limit NetGenie intimates the user(s) to take the necessary action and once it reaches to 100% NetGenie displays an Internet access denied message and asks the user to login as NetGenie administrator. After providing administrator credentials the user is allowed to access Internet based on ISP’s policies.
The administrator has to specify the limit for data transfer (download / download + upload) and billing date from Network Settings > Internet Usage Meter page.
5. VPN Pass through – IPSec, L2TP, PPTP
NetGenie supports VPN pass through for IPSec, L2TP and PPTP which means now NetGenie allows the VPN traffic that is initiated from VPN client to pass through to Internet and then reach the remote VPN gateway.
Enable VPN pass through from Network Settings →VPN Passthrough page.
6. Push Button WPS Support
NetGenie supports push button WPS to ensure easy and secure wireless network. Now the user just needs to push WPS button provided on NetGenie appliance to get safe surfing experience.
Enhancements
1. User based Controls
• Internet Access Schedule
NetGenie supports user based Internet access schedules i.e. now the administrator can configure the time interval when the user is allowed/denied to login and surf Internet.
Go to Family Protection/ Internet Controls page and click ‘Set Time Controls’ link to configure time based Internet access for the specific user.
• Disable/Enable Family Protection/Internet Control
The administrator can enable or disable Family Protection/Internet Control for a specific user, based on role and requirement of the user.
Click OFF against ‘Family Protection/ Internet Controls’ to disable the feature and ON to enable the feature.

2. Website Categorization Feedback
NetGenie provides an option to submit suggestion/feedback regarding categorization of the Websites.
This option is available on Family Protection → Search Category and Internet Controls → Search Category page in Home and SOHO appliances respectively.

Submit feedback link is also provided on any blocked URL notification page.
3. Firmware Update Notification
NetGenie notifies the administrator regarding availability of new firmware at the time of login. Administrator can choose either to upgrade the firmware or skip the notification pop-up. If the administrator skips it then NetGenie keeps notifying the administrator till either the upgrade is done or ‘Check for firmware upgrades upon Login’ option is disabled. To stop receiving automatic firmware upgrade notifications go to System → Firmware Upgrade and disable ‘Check for firmware upgrades upon Login’ option.

4. Improved Log Display
The log display style for Web Activity logs is changed.
Logs of all the Web activities with same source are grouped on the basis of domain/URL. The administrator can expand and collapse the date to view all the Web activities.
Go to Logs and Reports → Web Activity to view the web activity logs. .
5. Malware Alerts
From this version onwards, user Internet surfing displays malware alerts. When the user clicks the alert notification, a summary containing top 5 alerts with date, username, source IP and malware information is displayed.
This notification informs the user(s) regarding prevalent threats in the network. .
6. Multilingual Admin User Interface Support
Now NetGenie Admin User Interface can be viewed in multiple languages. Given below is the list of supported languages other than English:

7. Splash Page
When the user starts surfing Internet through NetGenie, a splash screen is displayed. This introductory splash screen gives an overview of NetGenie features along with multiple options. The user can
• Click 'Learn more about NetGenie's Security' button to read detailed information regarding security features offered by NetGenie.
• Click 'Continue Surfing' to skip this page.
• Click 'Learn Why NetGenie' to know benefits of NetGenie over other available products.
• Click 'Customer Portal' to access customer portal of NetGenie. Customer portal allows the user to register the appliance in order to avail support.
• Click 'Administrator Login' button to access NetGenie appliance.
• Click check-box against 'Do not show this page again’ to avoid this page at every DHCP IP lease.
This splash screen is not displayed if • any user is created in NetGenie • any device is whitelisted by NetGenie
• the user surfs Internet using any mobile device or smart device like apple TV, Xbox etc.
8. VPN ON/OFF Button (For SOHO only)
NetGenie introduces VPN ON/OFF button on IPsec VPN configuration page which helps administrator to connect or disconnect the VPN tunnel.
Go to Network Settings → VPN IPSec and click the button given in Connection column of VPN configuration section to connect or disconnect the created IPSec VPN tunnel.

LIMITED WARRANTY
Elitecore provides this limited warranty for its product only to the person or entity that originally purchased the Product from: Elitecore or its authorized reseller or distributor. The warranty of NetGenie Appliance as well as Adapter starts on the date of purchase and shall be valid for a period of 12 (twelve) months in case of the NetGenie Appliance and for a period of 3 (three) months in case of the Adapter thereafter.
All warranty claims must be submitted before the expiration of the warranty term, i.e. 12 (twelve) months in case of NetGenie Appliance and 3 (three) months in case of Adapter from date of purchase of the Product. Elitecore's sole obligation shall be to repair or replace the defective Product or any part thereof at no charge to the original owner. This obligation is exclusive of transport fees, labor or installation costs, and any other cost which are not directly associated to the Product. Such repair or replacement will be rendered by Elitecore at an authorized Elitecore service facility. The replacement of the Product or any part thereof need not be new or of an identical make, model, or part; Elitecore may, at its sole discretion, replace the defective Product or any part thereof with any reconditioned Product that Elitecore reasonably determines is substantially equivalent (or superior) in all material respects to the defective Product or any part thereof. If a material defect is incapable of correction, or if Elitecore determines in its sole discretion, that it is not practical to repair or replace the defective Product, the price paid by the original purchaser for the defective Product will be refunded by Elitecore upon return to Elitecore of the defective Product. In such case, the license granted herein in respect of any Software for which a refund is given shall be terminated automatically. The Product or any part thereof that is replaced by Elitecore, or for which the purchase price is refunded, shall become the property of Elitecore upon replacement or refund.
